I really would like to get another one (I have three already), and since there is very little space below injury level left on my skin... I've heard from some people (2) that they go dysreflexic, others say they wouldn't even try it. What do you guys think of the whole idea? My 13th year is on the 31st, that means that everyday after that one will be over half of my life like this, ventilator dependent quadriplegic from a spinal cord injury at the levels of C1 and C2. All because some füker wasn't paying attention to his turn signal and the road in front of him. I know everyone's reason for being paralyzed, especially when the reason is because of someone else, is awful. I'm not trying to one up anybody. I'm just trying to ignore, (but have a need to acknowledge), that after the 31st of August, every day is going to be one more day that outnumbers the 13 years, two months, two weeks, and a few days that I was able bodied. Hi Danny. I am not a quad but my boyfriend is. I know he had a terrible time when he first got hurt. That was 5 years ago. Sometimes he still has periods that are hard. Just hang in there. What is good for me, may not be good for you or any one else... for that matter. I'm sorry for you and those around you, that you are an incomplete quad. I'm also sure that you have a great history to share with all of us, when the time is right. Where did you do your rehab and how long were you in rehab? Welcome to this list. Granted there are others. But I don't think you will find an equal list of so many qualified quads offering some great advise based on their personal experiences. Ok . First some background . Im from southern California. Im 24, I had a good career going for me before my injury . I was a sr. network engineer for a good data/telecom company. I have a fiancé and family that takes care of me. I was in a horrible car accident. I broke c2,c6 and c7 and was on a vent for a while. I went to rehab at craig hospital and had most my surgerys there. I have a colostomy, and a super pubic catheter . I was originaly fused from skull to t1. I use a quadjoy and dragon naturally speaking/onscreen keyboard to use the computer and vonage for a phone. For fun I play video games with my family/friends. I use Netflix to rent watch movies I want a HD tv tunner card so I can watch tv on my computer. -Danny

Danny, i'm so sorry to see you joining this list - it can mean only one thing - you broke your freeking neck my 1wst couple years were the toughest for sure. i started out thinking - i'll walk away from this like my brother did - he shattered c5 and had c5-6-7 fused together - no paralysis. doc said mine was 'different' - i said 'ok, i can do DIFFERENT' he said , 'no- REAL different.' little did i know what he meant. he meant - no walking (and of course no dancing, no swimming, no playing, no shitting, no pissing like a normal man.. ok i hope you get the point. the thing is - there is still a lot of things i CAN do. i had and raised 3 kids ---( _kidspage_ (http://members.aol.com/mmmo7734/kidspage.html) ) who have THEIR KIDS -- ( _Dave Patty's Grandkids_ (http://ocgrands.com/) ) i have a story -- (_Dave's story_ (http://www.users.qwest.net/~daveoc/story.html) ) AND a life --( _Dave's Broken Van_ (http://www.users.qwest.net/~daveoc/dv/) ).
