I changed my plea from guilty to not guilty because the DA withdrew his no jail time offer so sentencing was postponed. Re: [QUAD-L] pain pump
Corie, It sounds as though we've been down the same path. I've tried all the meds that you've mentioned, with all the same results. I haven't had any pain medication put into my pump since I've had it. I will inquire about the Prialt. I've read up on it, and it sounds pretty scary, but so did some of the other medicines that I've taken. My Baclofen pump works very well for controlling the spasticity, but it will be an bonus, if I can get pain medication put into my pump that actually helps the pain. Thanks for this information. I will talk to my doctor about it. Naomi C4-incomplete, quadriplegic since July 2005 due to Transverse Myelitis **Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch Cooking with Tyler Florence on AOL Food. [QUAD-L] Urinary Bag Opener
Is anyone using an opener from the leg bag to chair? www.Rdequipment.com http://www.rdequipment.com/ has one but my chair reclines so that electric wires do not reach the switch. I thought perhaps a power chair user might be using something to open their bags. Merrill

Hi Merrill, I personally don't use one, but there are a few who do use them who are on this site. I hope they'll lead you to your questioning. Re: Fw: [QUAD-L] Pain
I have ran into this problem a few times. One time I ended up in the hospital because I drank too much water when I was overheated at a buccaneer football game. That's one of the main reasons why I limit my fluid intake during my day to 2 1/2 liters. I have low sodium and potassium so I take supplements and try to add as much salt to my diet as I can stand. For those of you about to ask, I have been checked for diabetes with negative results. I just have an insatiable appetite for fluids, especially when it's warm. My daily intake is usually around 4 1/2 liters to 5 L, but 5 L is my maximum. At one time I thought that no one could drink too much water without any problems. I was wrong. One year when I was having some blood tests done... my sodium level was down showing that I was washing out too many of the electrolytes in my body. My doctor just suggested that I cut down a little bit on my water intake. I was flushing out too many electrolytes that one's body needs. If someone has problems with electrolyte balance... that can be big-time trouble. Re: [QUAD-L] drainage bag
Where do you find bags that hold that much?
Re: [QUAD-L] drainage bag
I get them from the VA, but I did find them online. They're quite pricey, however, one of them will last me anywhere from four to six weeks. I usually clean it nightly with water and a small portion of bleach mixed in. http://www.homecaredelivered.com/catalog/4167/bard/153509-ea1/bard_large-capacity_center-entry_urine_drainage_bag.htm http://www.sportaid.com/catalog/page57a.shtml http://www.medicalsupplygroup.com/UROL_COLLECTION_DEVICES/BEDSIDE_DRAINAGE/BRD154002/product.aspx?srccode=cii_13736960cpncode=19-922689-2 You can probably find it cheaper somewhere else. Re: [QUAD-L] Purchasing an air mattress
I would definitely look at some local charities. One you might consider, even though you're not a part of the population, is The ALS Society. I have donated to them in the past and know they have beds and other accessories. It doesn't hurt to ask. I first learned of them through our non-profit community food bank. If your community has a low-income food bank or similar volunteer organization they might be your best bet for beginning a search. As an example, two years ago I was able to rent an electric hospital bed frame plus a low air loss matress for a total of $120/mo. It was a $5000 air matress, hardly used at all. Not long after I finished renting it (they clean service between users) they sold it for less than $800. Good luck in your search! It's called a low leak mattress by drive medical. It really isn't anything special. I'm doing a 70/30 rental split with Medicare. My monthly fee is $270. That's outrageous. They're getting over $900 a month just to rent me this mattress. I asked the company how much it would cost for me to buy one outright. They said after they had received approximately $14,000 in rental fees I would own the mattress. What an absolute joke! So I'm going to try to find an air mattress to buy and thought maybe someone on the list could help me. There's got to be some used ones out there or something way cheaper that would still help with pressure sores. Debbie C4 incomplete/April 2005
