Re: [QUAD-L] Chair Repair

2010-11-03 Thread Don Price
Greg,

Can you use another wheelchair provider, or are you stuck using Preferred?
I've
had my delays with them too so I may use United Seating [Phoenix] next time.

AZ's Medicaid long term care program [ALTCS] contracts with Preferred [and a
few
others] to do durable medical and equipment repair.  Not long ago the State
Independent Living Commision [SILC] did a review of these providers and found
they were being paid a lump amount each month/year so had no incentive to
provide helpful and timely customer care.  I think SILC was working with the
state to change that policy to payment per service.  I don't know where that
stands.

I know you're not going through insurance instead of Medicaid, but you
definitely should have remedy for your terrible service.  I'd threaten to
report
them to the Better Business Bureau, the State Attorney General, SILC, local tv
stations, Permobil national, etc.  Whatever agencies you can think of.

You have been getting screwed!

If you need any advocacy help give me a call.  We have an Advocacy Unit here at
the IL Center.
Don.

Re: [QUAD-L] how many of you have home healthcare for culture's or blood work

2010-11-03 Thread ladynotes

Dana, I have Medicare as my primary insurance and blue cross as my secondary. I
have a home healthcare nurse, who comes out every three weeks to change my
Foley catheter. I'm pretty sure that Medicare is the one who covers the cost.
Or maybe they just covered there 80% and Blue Cross covers the other 20%.
However it's done, I'm not billed for it. I have been doing this for the past
five years. If I suspect I have a urinary tract infection, the nurse takes a
urine sample and has the results that my primary care doctor.

Have a Blessed Day, Naomi

I have a fairly new doctor that doesn't think I need home healthcare like I've
had with all my previous doctors. I was given this doctor when my internist
became a hospitalist.

Can you imagine why a doctor would not want a patient to have home healthcare?

I've tried to make calls for other doctors and most don't take Medicaid. Even
though I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare right now, my insurance will
be changing and Medicare will be first in Blue Cross Blue Shield second in
February when my stepmom retires. I've been at this same same group or an quite
a number of years and they accept because of long-standing patient. Most
doctors are no longer accepting. Right now it doesn't matter because Blue Cross
covers most of my bill. I don't even know what Medicare will pick up. I need
your input about this problem.

Thank you,
Dana
