Good call Don!  It isn't a matter of PC, the terms wheelchair bound and
confined to a wheelchair
are journalistically incorrect.  Anybody that works in media in the U.S.
*should* abide by The Associated
Press Stylebook and Libel Manual, a book that is the bottom line on countless
phrases etc.  The AP manual
specifically states do not use 'wheelchair bound' or 'confined to a
wheelchair'. The correct term is
wheelchair user.

Bottom line, anytime you see wheelchair bound in a news article, the writer and
editer didn't properly proof read,
just as bad a spelling errors like have a glass of shampain.

Sorry, but that phrase makes me laugh. Really, it should be avoided whenever
possible, no offense intended. Maybe I'm being too P.C.?

Its the same issue with the terms handicao and disabled, I once worked at an
ILC and the Executive director refereed to the consumers as disabled and not
handicapped, it was a difference in the definition and disabled was pc
correct.

I've been watching the commercials for this new fall program and had to
wonder as well. Has Blair, once a fine actor, hit bottom? I haven't seen
Blair anywhere in the last decade. Is TV Programming going to portray Blair
... as a where that can go anywhere? Last time I watched IronSide, was when
Raymond Burr played a lawyer in a manual wheelchair and back then, he had
his limits in a courtroom. Should be interesting.
