Recently I have seen a lot of reference to face book. I am with a local historical society and we are going down that road. In my limited research I believe there are many do's and don'ts. I would appreciate hearing comments from those that have set up face book accounts for organizations. Thanks, Glenn Henry

It would probably be a good idea to start a group on Facebook as opposed to communicating with each other normally. I don't like putting too much personal information out there without having some sort of protection. RE: [QUAD-L] facebook
The truth is, Facebook is just about as insecure with respect to personal information as this list is. The bottom line is be careful about what you share about yourself online. If you would not say it in a speech in public, don't post it to this list or anywhere on Facebook. The internet is a great thing to have and share, but the downside to it is the releasing of too much personal info that can be retrieved by others for unlawful purposes. I would hasten to warn anyone against exposing too much information that can be combined with other supported information for others to use. Re: [QUAD-L] Facebook profile
Don't believe all the negative hype about Facebook or Myspace etc. Of course you're not going to put your bank account or SS number on any non-secure site. But these sites - Facebook, Myspace, etc. sites are just like this list only you can post pictures and YOU control it. It's funny how some people are afraid of doing business using the Internet. My brother is one of them. He's afraid to use his banks' website to pay his bills because someone might steal his info. Instead, he prefers to send a check with all of his bank info as well as his address and phone number through the mail! Talk about insecure! Who says the info given has to be correct? Mine at Yahoo is false KK People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. Anonymous
Re: [QUAD-L] Facebook profile
The operative word is due caution. In some cases its for stealing info. And in other cases its for personal protection, especially if one is home by themselves a good portion of the day. Maybe its just because I've returned from a meeting with the United States Attorney Office, for the Northern District and learned from the Feds what is happening on a nationwide basis. Just use caution in what you decide to post and once it is posted on the internet, its there for the world to see. I was amazed to learn that White, Educated, Males, make up the greatest portion of internet fraud, injury and theat using the computer. How do you like dem apples.. wink wink. You are right. There is a better chance of your banking info getting stolen using a store unless you intend on paying in cash everywhere. I saw on 60 mins that there are computer programs that can download store information from their parking lot. Many have had their identities stolen that way.
