Re: Modems, LC520
You should be able to go up to (theoretically) 56k, although in reality it will be ~48k. These will be connected to the serial port (not a PC parallel). -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, February 24, 2003 11:54 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject:Modems, LC520 I have several LC520s and other LC-series 68040 machines I am trying to get ready for families who have never owned computers. I need to know which 3 of the 68, or so, small pins on the Mobo edge are the CD Audio In. OK, got the LC575 apart, down to the connecting harness. For reference, since the edge connector is not numbered that I can see, looking from the SCSI port end of the logic board, at the top of the board: There are three sets of pins. A set of 20, a gap of an inch or so, a set of 50, another gap, and then a set of 5 power pins. Referencing the 50 pin set, numbering from the left end of the set. The LC 575 has a 7 wire ribbon from the CD audio connector adapter to the edge connector. Using an ohmmeter from the CD audio connector adapter to the edge connector, I see: Pin 1 is right channel. Pins 2-6 are ground and connect to the two middle pins on the CD sound adapter. Pin 7 is left channel. I hope this is clear and useful. It is the proper way to do it. Just because you haven't heard of problems doesn't mean that there weren't any. When the URL is long like some of the ones that span two or three lines it really makes a difference. Re: ADB Optical
Yes; I think a few were available for NeXT boxen, and there may have been one or two for the Mac as well. They require special mousepads with reflective patterns, however; there aren't any modern LED-style optical mice for the ADB. what are the pins in ADB used for? would it be possible to modify a modern USB or PS/2 mouse to work with it? or repace some of the circuitry in the ADB mouse (and the whole area with the ball, possibly a new case) with that of a optical mouse so that it would work -- Quadlist is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
