Re: [Quantum Owners] Xtreme scuttle / dash moulding

2014-10-22 Thread Chris Young
I just tilt the scuttle up to get access rather than remove.

on my red extreme the scuttle was held down in 3 places. engine bay middle
and down each side.

on the v8 there are 2 more on the inside of the car, just in toward the foot
wells, but I had them removed as I was lifting the dash so much! no rattles.

I am just trying to change my wing mirrors and at the same time sort a
 Rattle.
In order to get the nuts off the rear of the mirrors I need to get behind
the dash. In order to get behind the dash the whole moulding has to come
out. In order to get the moulding out you have to remove the column
 shroud, stalks and steering wheel.
Even then all the wiring looks like it will have to be pulled about to get
 my hand in there.
 am I missing a trick?
There are only actually 4 fasteners holding this whole moulding in place.
2 in the scuttle area and 2 on the dash rail of the chassis across the
cockpit. When you go over bumps, it rattles about and bounces a bit at the
rear like it should be screwed down more?

[Quantum Owners] Re: Quantum Mk1 destruction.

There has been a considerable effort behind the scenes to save the shell.
However, the purchaser will not work with us and claims that the Quantums
are a 'nice' cheap way of getting parts to restore early Fiestas, and that
the parts alone will net him more than the purchase price.
We have been able to trace back and find that the purchaser in question
has bought other Quantum's for the same reason.
I know my feelings about this,I leave you to make yours.

Re: [Quantum Owners] Extreme fuel pump

2014-10-22 Thread Nigel Plant
As chris says, take the rear tub off, it seems a big job, but is actually
quite easy. When you put a new one on, put it on the bulkhead behind the
passenger seat, per Chris above, ghen you can easily access with just taking
the rear NS wheel off.

Is your car injection or carb? Mine is injection and the tank outlet is on the
tank bottom, so am a little puzzled why the pump is on top, unless this is how
earlier ones were plumbed with carbs and low pressure pump.

Note also when removing the tub, you will likely have to remove harnesses at
the top, where they attach throigh the tub and also there maybe two self
tappers behind the seats holding the tub panel against frame. There are also
two fasteners at the front botyom of the wheel arch, to stop it flapping around.
