Did a bit more research and as Bill said, it seems all the plastic ones have 
been self destructing.
I guess that's why people are after £85 on ebay for scruffy alloy ones.

It seems it would be worth getting the shear off bolt(s) removed and reusing 
the alloy housing.

That must be a very early Zetec, or somebody fitted a early stat housing.
Only the very first ones had the main housing in alloy, then it was 
switched to the same brown/black plastic as the pipe inlet.


I'm surprised there aren't any plastic ones on Ebay, but they all seem 
to be the later Zetec ones with the push in fittings for the temperature
