Re: [qubes-users] Re: I can't disable ipv6 on Debian Template
Hello Andrew, How are you ? Thank you for your time, I appreciate your help. I don't know if I went full paranoid mode but I just wanted to apologize having been so aggressive. It's not the way I behave myself in real, I am really the opposite kind, being sensitive and trying to stay polite with people. I clearly failed there so I just wanted to let you know that I truly respect Qubes development team and that I am sorry having letting myself ending up being nasty... What bothers me is that I really love the American culture and I don't understand why on the political part NSA is making a war nowadays on the entire world on privacy rights. Well, as anyone I have been really shocked by 9/11 terrorist attacks. Even though I understand the US politics reacted because they have been hurt on a power symbol, I really want these paranoid policies by NSA against every privacy rights of citizen to end. Human dignity is based on privacy respect. I can tell you about it, I lost a huge part of my dignity in psychiatry, going there for wrong reasons (got fascists perverts in my family). And I mean, who doesn't love the US ? If I had to move to a desert island and only take 5 of my favorite movies ever, I would probably take 3 American one's : "Mulholland Drive", "Forrest Gump" and "Changeling". What's fascinating is that all those 3 outstanding movies express in a very different way the same universal feeling : love. I feel so grateful to the US when I watch them because actually my life sucks, got no friends, no family left. I feel like receiving a bit of love I missed. Well, all that being said, thank you for your support. I'll try your solutions when I'll wake up :) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Performance under Intel Skylake?
Does anyone use a CPU from the current Skylake-Generation, or maybe even a i7 6700k? I bought the hardware a couple weeks ago, and just tested it with Qubes 3.2, and it quit works. Just the performance is a mess. There are constantly small laggs, which I don't have with an older Core i5 in my notebook. Also the Qubes VM Manager often completely freezes or crashes. I just tried to install Kernel 4.7.5 from fedora 24 repos following the instructions from marek in one of the mailinglist threads, which are linked in the qubes documentation under "Kernel upgrade in dom0". So installing the kernel works quit good, but it makes things even worse. Even more laggs and short freezes. So if someone also has a skylake CPU, do you have the same problems? Or does anyone has ideas what I could also try, beside updating the kernel? -Fabian -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] A computer with read-only firmware..?
Does anyone know of any computer that has read-only firmware..? I'm talking, just about anything that could have a virus written to it. Stuff like 1. BIOS 2. GPU 3. Ethernet 4. Mouse 5. Keyboard etc I want this system because then if it is infected, then all I need to do is wipe the HDD and then it's clean again. Ideally the system should only have HDD as persistently writable. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Re: SIMPLE Fily Copy Counter?
Hello, I can adapt the columns in the file manager (right mouse click on the header of this table) and choose accessed. If I (or someone) will copy this or all files, than the accessed date (accessed time seams missing), is now shown. But this could be reading, writing, or copying the file. I was more interessed in the copy-event, because this should be quite unique and can allert me, if there all files show yesterday, but I was on the beach all the day. Kind Regards -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] SIMPLE Fily Copy Counter?
Hello, assume you have a top secret document with only one digial orignal file (just for an easy imagination). If there was a counter, which shows how many copies have been made from this file, than for every simple user it will be obvious, is some file was copied or not, or more precise how many times copies have been made. If I look to the meta-data inside the file manager I can find the last access. Yes some system tells me the last logon-time, I can get quite easy a guess, if I really was logged on the last sunday at 3 o'clock at night - or if this looks totlay odd. How I can use this simple security trick also for file copy counters, which get displayed straigt away in a simple consumable manner? Can I do this with QubesOS? Which filemanager will support this feature? Which configuration will help me to gain this tiny but fancy feature? Re: [qubes-users] Re: I can't disable ipv6 on Debian Template
nishiwak...@gmail.com: > I won't wait another week with my HDD disabled by this OS. I'm trying to figure out if this is a veiled threat of some kind...? FWIW, I've booted from USB drives while Qubes was installed internally before. I'm under the impression that lots of people here have done so. So perhaps you might want to consider the likely possibility that there is something different about your setup compared to mine (and everyone else's whose setup works fine), rather than this being a deliberate attempt by Qubes developers to "make [sic] hostages". Then again, based on your other posts in this thread, it's likely that I'm wasting time trying to reason with someone who has an entirely different agenda than getting an actual bug fixed. I won't be bothering to engage further if additional posts support that conclusion. Cheers, -Jeremy -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group.
