[qubes-users] off topic - invite codes to 'riseup'

2017-02-15 Thread eandriano
Sorry to bump something long dead, but I've recently started an activist group
on my campus and while I know their canary hasn't been updated in some time and
this means anything on riseup is potentially compromised, but I have a sizable
group of undergraduates (most PoC, LGBTQ, and/or immigrants) that are
interested in getting riseup email addresses. There has been a lot of doxxing
and harassment on our campus and even if the authorities might have access to
them it isn't likely that local neo-nazis will.

I am looking for invite codes to give out to them so if you happen to have any
extras please PM me and send them my way. Thanks!

I just installed Qubes on an Thinkpad x230, but I installed from a DVD. I
didn't have any luck booting from USB.

Hope this helps!

Well yes, except that it's clear form the thread that Marc knows what
the issue is (Path not set), and I doubt execsnoop would add more
insight to that.

I'm not quite clear on what you are asking.

You don't need to add the drivers during the install.
Run through the install, and you will have a sys-net qube to which
should be allocated your network devices.

You should add the firmware to the Template on which the sys-net qube is
based. (Changing that to Debian-8 if you prefer.)

I've been able to use my Yubikey 4 on a debian 8 qube successfully. (Remember
to patch the libccid_Info.plist). Might be worth giving it a try?

Running execsnoop [1] in the AppVM while trying to start chromium may
give you more insight into what is actually happening. Tracing
observed behavior is often easier than digging through the source.

Does somebody have this problem before me? Thank you! Bernhard

You can use a Debian template instead. It has media players and codecs
readily available in its repository.

[qubes-users] Adding NIC drivers to install

2017-02-15 Thread Chris Willard
Hello All,

I'm still having problems installing Qubes. Debian works apart from
having to add firmware-bnx2_0.43_all.deb to the firmware directory
when installing.

As my issue with Qubes is networking is it possible for me to do the
same with the Qubes install media?

I am running a GTX570. On first boot I have the same stolen region error.
(albeit with a different region specified).

Switching to onboard VGA has bypassed the issue.
