[qubes-users] v4.0.3 install hangs at "Creating ext4 at .../qubes_dom0-root" then fails
Hi, I wasn't sure how to send the bug report from my installation attempt (to a ftp or whatever). If someone tells me how to do that I will. The details of the error message are too numerous to copy by hand and then type in here! If nothing else maybe I could capture the text using OCR on my phone. I've been trying to install v4.0.3 from one USB 3 stick (SanDisk) to another USB stick (Alcor) on my Lenovo Ideapad 310 laptop (meets all requirements except SSD). The install appears to progress normally until the status message above the progress bar reads "Creating ext4 at .../qubes_dom0-root," at which point the install hangs for a long time. Finally there is a generic error message. The details of that message lead me to believe that at least part of the problem is a failure to format the destination USB drive. Interestingly, at first when I booted from the installation USB stick a page of "boot text" would appear, beginning with "Xen," etc. before the install GUI became visible, but this no longer happens. I've been using the Legacy BIOS boot option, not UEFI. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated! TC -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Install Qubes in Odroid H2,
Qubes must be installed “bare metal”. Nothing underneath it.I have not done so, I. believe Ubuntu could be a guest OS. Those error messages presume Qubes was installed first. Beware Qubes can want to take over the entirety of drives on computer. Might not be mandatory with the latest Qubes. As you can guess. Security mandates not having any thing else on computer. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Build USB install with kernel 5+
Hi everyone, Any help appreciated. I managed to install a Qubes 4.0.3 on an Intel NUC10FNK. No VM's can start due to an error like: Internal error: Unable to reset PCI device :00:1f:6:no FLR, PM rset or bus reset available. Se log for details. The logs states unable to read console tty path /local/domain/[1,2,3,4]/console/tty resource temporary available. The kernel in QubesOS seems quite old and not supporting a lot of new stuff in the NUC. I was trying to copy the kernel 5.5.7-1 and other rpm's from the yum site(https://yum.qubes-os.org/r4.0/current/dom0/fc25/rpm/kernel-latest-5.5.7-1.qubes.x86_64.rpm) to the installation, but a lot of dependencies is making it harder than it might could be. Any great ideas to build a new USB installer? Or any advise in other directions? Sincerely Max -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] thinkpad x220: ," unsupported hardware error" during install, black screen after install
Another work around is to burn the Qubes iso onto a DVD. Boot from that DVD and install. Seems to work every time. I get an error message but the resulting Linux seems to work. I am not satisfied. I will work on this some more next week. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group.
