[qubes-users] Re: Q4RC3 - win7 install problems
I played a bit with the VM parameters, as some suggested, disabling the dynamic memory management (4GB allocated statically) and allocating more disk (10GB private and 20GB ystem), but nothing changes. I get the same window, it closes quickly, the VM halts. At this stage I guess this is not related to windows, as I have no proof that the VM has even attempted to boot on the windows image/cdrom. Does this mean that at the moment the creation of StandAlone VM is broken in Qubes 4 ? Because at this very early stage of VM creation, I have done nothing fancy yet. [qubes-users] Q4RC3 - win7 install problems
Hi Qubists This is my first attempt to install Windows 7 in my Qubes system (Q4RC3): --- [jl@dom0 ~](0) qvm-create win7 --class StandaloneVM --label yellow [jl@dom0 ~](0) qvm-ls NAME STATECLASS LABEL TEMPLATE NETVM ... win7 Halted StandaloneVM yellow - sys-firewall [jl@dom0 ~](0) qvm-block BACKEND:DEVID DESCRIPTION USED BY dom0:sr0 CDDVDW_GP70N (GSP1RMCHPXFRER_FR_DVD) [jl@dom0 ~](0) qvm-start win7 --crom dom0:sr0 --- I get a console terminal from the win7 VM with a brief message and it closes after a few seconds (see attached sreenshot). I also tried with a .iso file but the same issue occurs. Am I doing things wrong ? Of course I checked the Win7 DVD and it is readable and fine. Any clue appreciated. Thanks. The drive is itself encrypted (LUKS+ext4), I take this extra care is taken because it is stored outside my home. So as a first step I mount mount it and enter the LUKS key, and I make sure I can browse and read the backup files normally. Re: [qubes-users] qvm-backup-restore --verify-only broken ?
Thanks for your feedback. Same issue when I try to verify the backup on a freshly installed 4RC3 system. More annoyingly, the standard restore does not work neither with the same error, so at this time we cannot restore any backup in a Qubes 4 based system. So I am going to be careful and save my AppVM datas with an alternate method in the meantime. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] qvm-backup-restore --verify-only broken ?
Hello Qubists I currently use Qubes R4 RC2, and would like to upgrade to RC3 after a backup. But I experience problems with the qvm-restore-backup --verify-only command. Should I worry about the quality of my backup ? [qubes-users] Upgrade from R4-RC2 to R4 final
New to Qubes OS but veteran Linux user, I am currently building a R4-RC2 config for my day-to-day personal desktop. I gave a try to R3.2 but my Intel HD 630 integrated GPU was not supported, so I went for the beta. I have begun to create a few AppVMs and imported my data in the Qubes. I feel confident enough to start using it right now as it is quite stable. Before I make the big step to ditch my previous OS, I would like to know what will be the procedure to switch from R4-RC2 to R4 stable. Shall I be forced into a reinstall of Qubes OS from scratch, or will it be something easier like a dom0 update, which will preserve the Templates/AppVMs ? What should I expect for the upgrade ?
