Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio reboots often, Out of Memory
Mine does also report 48% on the radio, while the top output is 50%, so I guess that would go together. But then the device only shows the memory usage from the jive process and not the complete memory. I run my radio on mains too, sometimes on battery when I move it round. icebreaker's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66875 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117307 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio reboots often, Out of Memory
I have stopped the sync and did a reboot. When it came back online, no stream was running and the jive process uses about 42% memory. Another 12% goes to the jive_alsa process. So half the memory is used even when it's in "standby / ready" mode. icebreaker's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66875 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117307 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

And I guess it's not simple to remove that. I just wonder what happens when does url are not available anymore. I mean I have seen it now, but that would make it not fun anymore to use it. I don't think mine reboots so often, but now I will keep an eye on that uptime. slartibartfast wrote: > Hmm how much memory is free after a reboot of your radio? But I need to say, that my players are all synced. Not sure that makes a difference. Also I thought, that everything would come from the server, which is not true as I figured out now. After disable the firewall rule, the artwork is back on the screen. That would tell me, it comes from the internet direct and not from the server. icebreaker's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66875 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117307 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

This was my own fault, as I had my firewall settings really strong. I have changed it now and those messages are gone. Hopefully that will help it. At least, the free memory is around 15% now, instead of being at 5%. Do you know, why it's important to connect "home"? Because I think I had that blocking rule in a long time and maybe had a crash one a month or so. icebreaker's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66875 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117307 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio reboots often, Out of Memory
I'm on communitiy firmware already and have turned aac off. The screensaver I didn't use but have still deactivated it on the server. Even after the change of aac, it keeps crashing. Would it be possible to add a swap partition? icebreaker's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66875 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117307 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Sadly it has crashed again twice this afternoon, both times out of memory. Any other ideas, what to try? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio reboots often, Out of Memory
I have disabled the AAC now and also the screensaver plugin. Sofar it looks a lot better. Image screensaver it not that plugin, which would show the picture on the radio? I mean the picture you can see on the server (like covers or logos). Because befor the bbc plugin, that has worked but now on only shows black on the radio, while on the server it's still there. I'll keep monitoring it over the next time. Yes 64MB of RAM is not a lot. icebreaker's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66875 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117307 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Radio reboots often, Out of Memory
Hi all I had this problem befor, but not as much as now (more like once per month). Since of the change in bbc radio, I have to use the bbc sounds plugin, which works sofar fine. But more often with this, the radio "freezes" and will reboot itself then. After a bit diging around, I have found the crashlogs on the device, which everytime the reasen is, out of memory. Then I connected to the device and had a look with top command, which to me shows a very high mem and cpu usage. Is that normal? I have also tried the community firmware, but didn't get any better. Factory reset also didn't bring anything. Any idea of how to fix this? top output (while runninig bbc sounds): Mem: 60088K used, 2024K free, 0K shrd, 6704K buff, 18312K cached CPU: 65% usr 6% sys 0% nic 26% idle 0% io 1% irq 0% sirq Load average: 2.16 2.24 1.76 1/68 2503 PID PPID USER STAT VSZ %MEM %CPU COMMAND 755 1 root S35236 57% 53% /usr/bin/jive 788 755 root S 7300 12% 12% jive_alsa -d default -c dac -b 2 -p 2 -s 16 -f 3 crashlog: Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.422520] Mem-info: Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.424823] DMA per-cpu: Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.427389] CPU0: hi:0, btch: 1 usd: 0 Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.432208] Normal per-cpu: Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.435045] CPU0: hi:6, btch: 1 usd: 5 Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.439887] Active:11971 inactive:1399 dirty:0 writeback:0 unstable:0 Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.439911] free:313 slab:1009 mapped:2191 pagetables:81 bounce:0 Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.452597] DMA free:600kB min:380kB low:472kB high:568kB active:19024kB inactive:624kB present:24384kB pages_scanned:14710 all_unreclaimable? no Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.465704] lowmem_reserve[]: 0 39 39 Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.469467] Normal free:652kB min:632kB low:788kB high:948kB active:28860kB inactive:4972kB present:40640kB pages_scanned:25350 all_unreclaimable? no Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.482912] lowmem_reserve[]: 0 0 0 Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.486505] DMA: 16*4kB 1*8kB 1*16kB 0*32kB 0*64kB 0*128kB 0*256kB 1*512kB 0*1024kB 0*2048kB 0*4096kB = 600kB Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.496703] Normal: 5*4kB 1*8kB 1*16kB 1*32kB 1*64kB 0*128kB 0*256kB 1*512kB 0*1024kB 0*2048kB 0*4096kB = 652kB Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.507043] 2282 total pagecache pages Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.510826] Swap cache: add 0, delete 0, find 0/0 Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.515571] Free swap = 0kB Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.518477] Total swap = 0kB Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.524852] 16384 pages of RAM Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.527945] 426 free pages Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.530756] 1023 reserved pages Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.533936] 1009 slab pages Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.536758] 4827 pages shared Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.539742] 0 pages swap cached Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.542916] Out of memory: kill process 780 (jive) score 848 or a child Dec 30 09:20:11 kernel: [ 3719.549625] Killed process 780 (jive) Dec 30 09:20:17 watchdog[687]: pinging process 750 (/var/run/squeezeplay.pid) gave errno = 3 = 'No such process' Dec 30 09:20:17 root: watchdog error 3 icebreaker's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66875 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117307 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
