As others have already pointed out, some people are extremely sensitive to light while they're sleeping. Others, myself included, are not bothered by this as much. As far as addressing your question about which room my players are in, I currently have a Boom in the master bedroom on my nightstand. The other players are in my family room, game room and home theater. The Radio (which should arrive today :)) will be going in the guest bedroom. Assuming I like the Radio as much as I think I will, I'll probably buy a second one for my kitchen. This would be another scenario where adjustable dimming would come in handy. With the auto adjustment enabled the screen goes really dim. Do not be affraid. I sleep in a dark room, and the screen is so dim that it is getting hard to even read the time. FYI, I designed the dimming circuit for the display, and I'm super paranoid about things keeping me up at night. I made it so that even in a darkened bedroom, the dimmest setting is just readable. The current software does auto-dimming, or manual dimming -- you choose. There is still some optimization that needs to be done on the dimming algorithms, but it's really pretty good as is. I'm glad this has been asked and appears to have been addressed. I am also a sleeper who is extremely sensitive to lights in my room, to the point that I've had to put tape over the lights on many things such as the base to my Harmony remote that is in the bedroom. One of the questions that I have though is regarding the white numbers on black background. Are there plans to provide other colors for the alarm display? I've observed that blue is one of the hardest to sleep with colors and red is one of the easiest to sleep with. I'll forward this question on to the UI designers to see how hard it is to change text color. I imagine it's quite simple. It goes very dim in a dark room. If you turn the knob or touch any buttons, it will light up so you can read the screen and then go back to dim after a short time. If you want it completely dark, you can set off mode to screen off. I'm pretty sure that in this case turning the knob would not turn on the screen.
