learned that little tidbit while getting the Romulous answer wrong.

[RBW] Re: Legolas/Roadeo Owners: Threadless stem size vs quill

2017-01-23 Thread Call Me Jay
Very helpful. So, comparing:

1) the 56.5 top tube length with 73 seat tube angle of the Legolas;

2) the Homer's 58.5 top tube length, 72 seat tube angle, and current 90mm
stem; and

3) my second-hand Custom's 57.5 top tube length,72 seat tube angle, and
current 90mm stem...

I think I need another 90mm stem. Let me know if I'm missing anything or
my math is off. As always, thanks for the help. This forum continues to
be a great resource.

[RBW] Re: Legolas/Roadeo Owners: Threadless stem size vs quill

2017-01-23 Thread 'Mojo' via RBW Owners Bunch
Jay,

To copy the cockpit position from the Homer to the Legolas, you need to
make one adjustment. Subtract one cm from your Legolas stem before you
compare and compensate for different top tube lengths. In other words, the
one degree steeper seat tube angle on the Legolas has taken up roughly 1 cm
of effective top tube length. In other-other words, your saddle will be
roughly 1 cm further back on the Legolas' seatpost to achieve the same leg
to crank position.

Re: [RBW] Legolas/Roadeo Owners: Threadless stem size vs quill

2017-01-23 Thread Toshi Takeuchi
I use a 9 cm stem on my 650b Homer and went with a 9 cm threadless on my
Roadeo. The top tube is significantly shorter on the Roadeo than Homer,
but this allows me to ride most comfortably in the drops (whereas most
comfortable position on Homer is probably bar tops/hoods, so it works out
great for me and my applications).

I'm not sure about the Legolas top tube length/geometry but if you want to
ride with the same position as on your other bikes, then you can do the
math on that, but assuming you would ride in a racier position, then
keeping the same stem length could make sense like for my Roadeo.

I love a good haul'n thread!! These aren't exactly 'recent' but here's some
of my favourite photos of my loaded atlantis

Here I've got my motorcycle helmet and riding gear, along with some tools
and parts stuffed in my saddle bag for some maintenance down at the shop
across town.

I think these are two moto helmets. Actually come to think of it, I use my
bike quite often to carry motorcycle stuff. Sounds kinda backwards.

Big wald basket, amazing what you can fit!

Winter camping last year, early January I believe.

I'm not sure what's stuffed in that box, but I remember it being a tricky
ride home heh!

You get a lot of nice smiles wheel'n by with a paper bag of fresh produce
in the basket.

Donuts for the office!

As far as lever position goes, that would vary somewhat on the levers being
used I guess. To me I position them so that when my hands are just back on the
forward portion of the "flats" that my forefinger can just hook over the curve
at the bottom of the brake lever. This insures that the brakes are accessible
from most hand positions on the bar & works good regardless of lever model.

Clue should've been high carb / low carB--not "car". And it's a bar we
don't sell anymore. Dove bar. Meat (if a real dove), and ice cream /
chocolate confection for the high carb.

Buckwheat was SOBA bar.

I'll try to post the key--need roman's help converting excel file to JPEG.
Internet was helpful for non-mac, but I'm on mac. I'm sure it's easy, but
I've had it with trying, so I'll get Roman to show me.

sorry for the missing B!

[RBW] Re: Clem-L's first march and rally and a brief 5-month update

2017-01-23 Thread Shoji Takahashi
Very useful update, Linda. Thanks very much for the info on the multisack
and Clem setup. Living in the Boston area, I've tried and still have
studded tires in the bike shed-- I really don't enjoy riding with them,
though. Fortunately, most winter days are clear enough to use regular tires.
