. It is a different setup than the VO porter stand. I had the Ursus on my Bomba

I have a few other as well

the VO Copenhagen / Massload was ok.

The Hebie Double was good but not as solid as the Ursus.

[RBW] Bike sizing by PBH, and wanting to give drop bars one more chance

2018-10-17 Thread lambbo
Sorry this is slightly OT, but hearing about tight glutes and hamstrings got me
thinking --- I ride my Roadini with the longest possible leg extension, it's
always been how I set up my bikes but I'd never had drops before, and I've been
getting terrible cramps in my legs on anything above 40 or 50 miles... In the
experience of those above who've dropped their saddles, does it reduce
cramping?

More on topic, I'm also 6'1" with long legs ~91 pbh and ride a 61 roadini with
a 100 stem that I just switched to 70 and I now wish was 60 but it works pretty
well, I would recommend tilting your seat slightly down (very slightly) to
reduce the amount you feel you're stretching forward. It may be obvious to
others but, being new to drops, I rode with a saddle that had my hips tilting
back and stretching my back out even more for too many rides.

Thanks! and good luck

I like my CX50s. I envy you your 70s; I think they’re much prettier. The 50s
rears squealed with morning dew, but that seems much less after the last bike
cleaning and pad filing. Braking is great; not better than my Pauls or Mafac
Racers, or Avid V brakes, or Shimano hydros, but not worse, either.

As we graduate to more hauling of stuff and less joyriding I have a 28ish ring

[RBW] Re: Bike sizing by PBH, and wanting to give drop bars one more chance

2018-10-17 Thread tc
Eric,
I'm 6'-0.5" and have a 90.5 PBH. My saddle height for road riding is
typically 1 cm less than what Riv recommends, but that's improved over the
past year or two because I'm more conscious of stretching my hips, hams and
glutes after a workout or a ride. It really does help. I ride a 61
Roadini with a 60mm stem and a 46 Noodle. I had a 58 sam with an 80mm stem
and a 46 Noodle. Also have a 64 Toyo Atlantis with Ahearne+Map bar and
it's very comfortable.

You're taller than me by a smidge, but compared to me, more of your length
is in your upper body. Even with shorter arms, I'd think a 58 Sam with
drops and a short reach stem should fit you fine unless your lower back or
posterior chain is shortened/very tight.

As for stems, you can get a shorty Technomic Deluxe from Ben's, down to a
50mm. See them here

.

I agree. So do most EU road regs. Flashing is OK for a lone biker in car
traffic on roads w//o accommodation for bikes, but I agree and felt like I
was being pushed toward break through seizures when trapped after sunset
with flashing lights.

A handful of riders joined my friend and I Tuesday night and turned our
pleasant night ride into a training ride of no particular interest beyond
steepness, elevation gain and mileage. Not a single picture from me of the
event. Just a bunch of CFRP bikes and riders with flashy lights looking for
parameters to stuff into their Strada and Garmins.

open/removable faceplate) and Sycip JJJ bars (which are similar to Map
Ahearne in shape/sweep but slightly wider and with a larger 31.8mm clamp).
The reach is perfect for me. I'm 5'-9" with long legs for my height.

[RBW] Re: Bike sizing by PBH, and wanting to give drop bars one more chance

2018-10-17 Thread Brent P
I'll add a data point since I learned so much from this group when I was
trying to determine a fit. 6'2" here, measured 93 PBH. Reasonably tight
hips and glutes which make drop bars not a fun experience on most bikes.
Started with a new LHT spring '17 and followed Surly and LBS sizing with a
58. And, after LBS ignored my request and cut the steerer down before I
picked it up, it was too small from day 1. I was new/returning to bikes and
took me months of trial and error to figure that out. Then discovered
Rivendell. One year ago a 62 Appaloosa arrived and it's been happiness ever
since. Jones Loop on the Appaloosa. Nitto Kite bars (similar sweep to
Jones) on a 64 MUSA Atlantis, and a 62 Hillborne joined the fleet this
year. Sam alternates between Noodles and Albatross, depending on the whim
of the week. With a 93 PBH height I've found Grant's recommendation of PBH
- 11cm = saddle height hits damn close. I run 81-82cm saddle on all 3
bikes. Anything over 82 and hips are a rockin' and things fall apart.

Listen to the Riv staff. Amazing fit they set me up with halfway across the
country, sight-unseen. I trust 'em.

[RBW] Re: Keto next week: how do i not bonk?

2018-10-17 Thread Lum Gim Fong
UPDATE:

Fears unfounded.
Rode great all summer/fall. Never bonked.
I noticed about 2 days where I had no recovery at all during the week I
started keto. I guess that was the transitional period. Once in keto I
found riding was better than ever and didn't feel trashed at all after
rides like when I was a sugar burner.
Seemed like I could ride as much and as hard as I wanted and never felt
trashed the next day like I did when sugar burner.
Lost 32lbs.

Now I am still eating the same keto-ish but a little looser. So I don't
know if I am in keto from day to day but still feel like I am. Mostly just
eat meats and above the ground veggies now. Atkins shakes and bars
sometimes to subdue sweet cravings. Gotta get over that and find better
snacks to eat.

I like keto diet and feel it is better for riding for me than a regular
carby diet.

The M151f bars are shorter reach and drop than Noodles, and easier to reach

I ride with two steady rear lights (one battery/one dynamo) and a steady

They light up the rear wheel in red nicely.
Reflective tape on crank arms.
Orange reflective vest like the ones mentioned above.

I need to get some of those reflective gloves!!!

Would be great to have an amber light for the sides of the frame.

2018-10-17 Thread Lum Gim Fong
I find that *super bright *flashing lights make it harder to see where a
bike is when I am driving a car and see a cyclist.

Front white lights are even worse. Just huge flashes, and then my eyes go
blind and only see blackness in between flashes so I cannot make out
exactly where the bike is.
Steady lights make it easier to see location of bike and are way less
irritating to cyclist riding behind you.

It is Chinese water torture if I am riding behind someone with a blinkie
and cannot get past them.

Alot of diffs people have could be due to differing femur and tib/fib and
knee joint lengths.
Everyone is different and no one fit method will work with everyone I am
guessing.

Riv says 71cm seat height for me.
Lemond and Selle Anatomica say like 72.5 or something around there.
I find my legs happiest in KOPS at 70cm seat height.

My PBH is 92 and I can't imagine riding at the recommended 80-82 saddle
height. My hips rock terribly with it that high. I find about 77-78 works
best for me. I also have tight hamstrings and glutes. I am curious if
your new found yoga practice allowed you to raise your seat.

[RBW] Re: Bike sizing by PBH, and wanting to give drop bars one more chance

2018-10-17 Thread Jeremy Till
My experience closely mimics yours. I'm 6'3" with long legs, and I think
the couple of times Riv has measured my PBH it's been somewhere around
95cm, for which they would recommend a seat height around 85cm, but over
many years of riding I've arrived at 79-80 cm being the ideal seat height
for me, depending on crank length. I think it's most because of tight
hamstrings/glutes and preferring a midfoot riding position with flat
pedals.

When I bought my Surly LHT, I followed the Riv sizing recommendations and
bought a 64cm one. Like your Sam, I originally had Albatrosses on it, then
Boscos, and it was great with both of those bars. About 2.5 years ago I
swapped in drops, and found that short-ish reach drops (Ritchey Biomax)
with a short reach stem (70mm, +17 deg) worked well with that setup. I've
since done some really long rides on that bike, including some 100+ mile
days. I'd say it's probably one of the better fitting drop bar bikes I've
ever owned. It doesn't hurt that in the same time I've done a fair bit of
yoga, working on my core strength and flexibility. Recently, I've been
thinking about swapping in some bars with a flatter ramp. Noodles are a
natural choice but I think their reach would be a bit much. I've got a pair
of Salsa Cowbells in the bin that I'll probably try next.

If I were designing a drop bar bike from scratch I could see that something
with a shorter top tube might open up the reach a bit more and allow for
longer bars like Noodles, Rando bars, or Maes Parallel bars. I've recently
bought a used 64cm Rambouillet that might fit the bill (it's got a 60cm TT
versus the LHT's 62cm), but it came with Albatross bars and I really like
that setup. I doubt that I'd want to go to a smaller stock frame, as I
don't think that I'd want the bars any lower than they currently are. My
eroica bike, a 1980's Medici racing frame, was 62cm and that required a
short and high Technomic stem to get the bars up where I wanted them.

Based on my experience:

Go by their PBH for frame size, and then size down one frame size if you
are going to use drops and the TT and standover are only a 2cm diff or so
on the smaller frame.

[RBW] Re: Quick removal of full-coverage fenders

I have the front fender on my commuter set up for quick removal. I
threaded machine screws through the drop out bosses (pan head) and fork
crown and use thumb nuts to fasten the fender.

[RBW] Re: Bike sizing by PBH, and wanting to give drop bars one more chance

2018-10-17 Thread Dave Grossman
You and I are almost the same proportions. I have a surgically repaired
L5-S1 which limits my comfort in the long and low position and similarly
cleared house as well.

I recently picked up a 1980 Trek 413 off Ibob to build as a bigger, better
fitting bike. That is still in progress. Hopefully that will work, but I
really just want an all day slightly spry roadish bike to ride without
fenders on pavement generally for hours at a time. Drops included. I
recently bought a BMC Monstercross and didn't cut the steerer and put dirt
drops on and I love it. But I always ask for reach and stack these days as
I know what wheelhouse I want to be in and if it doesn't fit I don't even
bother approaching anymore. A few years ago, I wouldn't have even thought
about things the same.

2018-10-17 Thread Mat Grewe
Hey, I am darn near the same proportions. I cannot recall exactly, but my
saddle height is somewhere between 74-76. However, I use thin'ish soled
shoes and pedal with my foot far forward on the pedals (midfoot
).

The best advice I have found on figuring out saddle height

is from Steve Hogg. Both articles are on the long side, but there is great
fit information in there.

[RBW] Re: Clem L 59 -- Considering a purchase

2018-10-17 Thread Matt Argomaniz
If this helps anyone, I'm 5'11, 85 PBH, and the 52 Clem L was just right
for me. As some others have already noted, a 59 would work too but the seat
post would be quite low.

Tire size can also be a deciding factor, since the 59 jumps up to 700c. So
if you have some pretty 700c wheels you're dying to use, that could be a
point for the 59.

[RBW] Bike sizing by PBH, and wanting to give drop bars one more chance

2018-10-17 Thread 'Eric Myers' via RBW Owners Bunch

Up until about a month ago I rode 58cm sized bikes, in varying degrees of
(dis)comfort. Then I started riding my new significantly larger Sam
Hillborne and realized all my older bikes are too small, so I've basically
decided to replace one of my old bikes with something similar (mid-80s
sport tourer) in a larger size, and sell the rest. Now I'm trying to
figure out that sizing.

I'm a little over 6'1" (187cm) and long in the torso but with only normal
length arms, according to my dress shirts. So to paraphrase an old joke,
my arms aren't quite long enough to reach the handlebars, and I need an
extra couple cm of handlebar/stem height to compensate.

My PBH is 89.5 cm. According to Rivendell, my saddle height should be
78-79cm, and my starting frame size should be 62-64 cm (The Sam is
different because it is an expanded frame). For whatever reason, that
saddle height is not comfortable and I tend to use something a couple cm
shorter. (Possibly because I keep my feet further forward on the pedal?)

On the Sam I have Albatross bars and love them, but would like to have a
second bike with a different cockpit. Stretching forward has generally not
been as comfortable to me as riding in the drops against a headwind, so I
am hoping that a larger frame, plus a short reach stem (I'd try one of
Analog's w(Right) stems if they were cheaper), and short reach drops like
the Soma Highway 1 bar might add up to something comfortable.

If you have a similar body challenges, or a preference for a slightly
shorter saddle height, I'd love to hear about your thoughts and experience
on bike sizing. Ditto for drop bars. I know I'm going to have to try
riding a number of different bikes, but I'd like to start out trying the
right size.

Best regards,

Eric

[RBW] Re: CX70 Brakes OR Typically late to the party

2018-10-17 Thread DarinM
I used these brakes on a loaded tour through the Washington Cascades this
summer and swapped the front pads only for black Kool Stop pads. Honestly,
I didn't notice a huge difference. I still have stock Shimano pads in the
rear and braking is great. I haven't used them at all in the rain though.

Be careful with your ascension, and if it becomes too much, I'm sure the
brakes will stop it.

[RBW] Re: CX70 Brakes OR Typically late to the party

2018-10-17 Thread DarinM
Justin,

The CX-50's are identical in geometry to CX-70's as best as I can tell. Any
differences are minor and likely do not make for any difference in
performance. The actual differences comes down to finish and stock pads,
70's come with OK pads in shoes and 50's come with OK bare pads. I prefer
the finish/looks of the 50's myself and have have found that there are
Shimano pad shoes (for BR-6700) with the same finish.

They really are great brakes. The spacers and fixed straddle length take
away almost all error associated in cant setup.

So I’ve shied away from cantis for a while because I just couldn’t do it.
Something was always off. Stopping power, lever feel, lever travel or
something else. Went so far as to put Paul MiniMotos on my SimpleOne when I
briefly had it.

But when building a 90s MTB to haul a kid you gotta go with what you get.
Luckily I found a set of CX70s in NOS condition on the local Craigslist and the

isn’t worth it these days.

Yesterday I did my first dirt ride with my daughter (Bort Meadow for the
locals) and it was a blast. However at the end I took a path I’ve ridden before
that’s alongside the fire road not remembering that it’s both a fairly steep
single track climb and has a couple small descents. When navigating this with a
9.5 month old in a seat in front of you all that’s keeping you from a CPS call
is your brakes. And WOW. The CX70s were AMAZING. I would actually say they

hydros (that need tons of maintenance). Great modulation, perfect stopping
power for my 180 + 20 + bike + baby seat + diaper bag in the Carradice.

It’s really a shame they’ve been discontinued and blown out everywhere. Are the

[RBW] Re: Brisk start to Coffeeneuring 2018

2018-10-17 Thread 'Deacon Patrick' via RBW Owners Bunch
G.E., those are gaters, double ventile from Hilltrek (modified to work with
minimalist footwear). A core concept to staying warm is moisture management,
and a great way to do that is highly breathable insulative layers over a
fishnet underlayer (no sweat next to the skin that way, and vapor escapes
easier than liquid), and when needed an outer wind layer that is highly
breathable. Also, part of the secret to warm feet is warm legs as well as
oversized shoes so insulative socks don’t compress circulation. Feet should
easily slide inside the shoe a bit on the pedal.

In this case, I rode up, intentionally slightly underdressed to “test” where I
was in heat generation, as well as my tweed breeks, temps dropped faster than
usual as I climbed as the coldfront settled in. When I reached the writing nook
I was delighted to put on the extra layers I’d shoved into my panniers “just in
case” as I was new to the season.

With abandon,
Patrick

[RBW] Re: Clem L 59 -- Considering a purchase

2018-10-17 Thread DadDadDaddio
I ride a green Clem L 59. I have no idea what my PBH is, but I'm 5'9" and
it fits fine. I've been in too-small frames before and decided to go big
this time with the bail out being the step through frame. It's perfect for
me; the big frame rides/handles better than any medium size frame I've ever
owned, and the Clem package overall just feels like a much more expensive
bike. I'm extremely happy with it. I don't bother with a water bottle cage;
I have a tube sack on the handlebars and a basket on the rear wheel rack; I
throw my water bottle in one of those, and drink when I'm stopped for a
break. The green is beautiful in person, especially on a sunny day. I added
a Brooks B67 saddle and RIV's MKS Grip King pedals to mine ... both are
terrific.

Some observations that may help you down the road.

   1. The 59 frame is larger is almost every dimension ... it's not just
"taller." That means the frame is wider in the chain stay/rear fork area.
The Clem rack fits fine but you have to mount the rack's support stays to
the outside of the rack to attach to the frame without tension. This makes
the pannier bars a little awkward to mount. I think they could be ganged on
the outside of the support stays using longer screws, but they look funny
   hanging out there.
   2. Because of the wider rear frame, the frame lock sold by RIV doesn't
fit the frame's mounting screws without widening the frame lock's slotted
mounting holes. The slots are designed to allow the lock to fit a variety
of frame widths, but it doesn't go quite wide enough to handle the Clem 59.
Its an easy job to widen the frame-lock's slotted holes using a
Dremel/grinder bit, but its a surprise when you first dry fit the lock and
   things don't line up.
   3. The kickstand that comes with the 59 is way to short to handle the
bike. I've changed out the stock kickstand for a Pletscher I could cut to
   the correct length.

For me, the Clem was the perfect choice. I ride paved trails and light
desert trails (no mountain climbing or rock hopping) and its very easy to
ride and comfortable on either. Good luck with your decision!

Re: [RBW] Re: Mounting Supernova E3

Hayden-

I assume you are trying to use the full "adjustable gooseneck" mount on the
Supernova? The one that is designed to bolt straight into the fork crown
(where the M-1 needs to go)?
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y8SpOK-zJgI/TnOA2UFSUhI/AE8/c8ChnbJXyjc/s320/dynolight%2B005.jpg

I would replace either the lower or upper bolt of the "gooseneck" mount
with a longer bolt (and nut, maybe), and then go into the side of the fork
eyelet or rack eyelet.

This guy removed the gooseneck entirely and just bolted the Supernova to
the eyelet on the side of his rack.

[RBW] Re: Mounting Supernova E3

2018-10-17 Thread Hayden
Hey all,

I just received my bike and it came with a Supernova E3 pro and I am also
running a Riv Nitto Mark's M-1 rack.

The light's mount seems to want to only mount on something forward facing,
I do not want to mount to handlebars. Right now I have it directly to an
upper braze-on on my fork lower then my rack but the light is turned 90
degrees so the beam to not hit the road correctly. Was wondering if anyone
found a way to mount this light to a rack or a fork braze on and work
correctly.

Thanks
-H

[RBW] A Boy, A Bike, and A Benefactor

2018-10-17 Thread Christopher Murray
What an amazing story! Several years back, my girlfriend (now wife) and I rode
from Seattle, WA to Cape Cod, MA. It was just the two of us and we camped
almost every night and cooked all of our meals on a small backpacking stove.
The thing that stays with me all these years later (18 years to be exact) is
the incredible kindness of complete strangers. Despite what you see and hear on
the news, people went out of their way to be kind and generous to us— from
little things like a smile and a wave to big things like home cooked meals and
safe refuge from crazy storms.

We live in a crazy world but 99.99% of the people I’ve come in contact with are
caring and generous and thoughtful and giving. Your story is a great example.
Thank so much for sharing it.

[RBW] Schwalbe g-one speed 2.35 on MIT Atlantis?

2018-10-17 Thread Todd Jones
I can't speak from experience yet, but I talked with Will about the 700c
version, and he said that both the G-One Speed (2.35) and Allround will fit the
59 MIT Atlantis frame I just ordered. That's on Cliffhangers.

As general clearance info, when the new Atlantis was released, I called Riv to
ask about it and was told that it will take up to 55mm nobbies or 58mm slickish
tires.

Oddly black and modern, I agree. My Sam is black, so I figure the black
will be somewhat less jarring (to my eyes, anyway) than if it were orange
or blue, but I kind of think it's cool, too. Some of the Blue Lug builds of
Rivs and, especially, Crusts are inspiring me. No complaints about the
current square taper BB, Silver crank, satin Nitto stuff I have on now, but
still curious. Anybody seen Rivs running external bearing BBs? Is the one
at Analog set up that way?

Re: [RBW] Re: Quick removal of full-coverage fenders

2018-10-17 Thread Tim Gavin
Joe-

Watch the video on that page, and it's clear that the rear fender uses
clips at the seat tube and brake bridge. So the rear fender could be
removed with relative ease.

The front fender, however, attaches to the bracket *before* you bolt it to
the fork crown, so it would require removal of that bolt to be removed
(Sheldon's nut would make that relatively easy.

However, these PDW Sodapop fenders don't provide that much coverage, and
since they have no stays they would likely vibrate all over the place and
create a noisy racket.

difficult time finding anything that shows how it's done.

Could you measure the armpit to armpit distance on the Ibex jersey? Also,
what is the length of the front and back, from the seam on the neck? Thank
you! - Cody

Dig those boot covers! Might need to look into something like that as the
snow seems to be coming, whether I'm ready or not. :)

Looks like a fun start to the Coffeeneuring challenge!!

Re: [RBW] Re: Quick removal of full-coverage fenders

2018-10-17 Thread Takashi
Tully,

Several years ago I saw a photo in a bike magazine which showed a
quick-release rear fender.
I think I threw the magazine away, but I remember that it had a latch catch
clip where it attaches to chainstay bridge.

When you create your quick release fenders, please post pictures!

[RBW] FS: 47cm Rivendell Roadini

2018-10-17 Thread G.E.
After purchasing a Rivendell Roadini, I quickly realized that it is a
near-duplicate of another bike I own. Since I've been clearing things out
and trying to get to a reasonable number of bikes, this one is on the
chopping block.

Here are the quick stats, for anyone who may be interested:

47cm Rivendell Roadini frame/fork
Pacenti Brevet 650B wheelset
Continental 650Bx32 tires
Bar-end shifters, 3x9 drivetrain with Sugino 170 crank
Tektro mid-reach brake calipers; Origin 8 brake levers
Ultegra front derailleur
Deore rear derailleur

Frame/fork and wheels have less than 100 miles.

Photos can be seen
here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/54032207@N04/albums/72157702339545464

Asking $1100 for the full build (minus pedals, saddle and bottle cage) +
$100 for continental US shipping.

Thanks! :)

[RBW] Re: Quick removal of full-coverage fenders

2018-10-17 Thread Takashi
Thank you Erl.

Front fender is attached with ordinary bolts.
I did this to the rear fender for rinko-ability. (Bringing my bike into
train)
I need to remove rear fender, but not front fender.
https://flic.kr/p/gJAK24
When I pack my bike, I remove whole front fork from the frame. Front fender
and rack stays on the fork.
Technically you can bring your bike into train by simply removing both
wheels from your bike, but I have front fender and front rack, so removing
whole fork is easier for me.

My upcoming Clem will pull occasional MTB duty. Our trails tend to have

Has anyone rigged up a way to attach fender brackets in some sort of
quick-release fashion? Perhaps hardware like this

  has
potential, if the right sizes are available...

(I'm aware of Speed-Ez and other truly QR fenders, but they lack both
 width and overall coverage.)

[RBW] Re: iBob cross post: Which would you choose as a long distance road bike / rando-ish bike?

2018-10-17 Thread Lum Gim Fong
I woukd take the bike:
A) that takes less effort to pedal uphill
and
B) is the most comfortable.

One thing I noticed about rando rides are the hills.
On these long distance rides you repeatedly will go up 7% plus steeper grades
and this will beat you up over the course of the ride. So whatever you take, it
better get up hills as easy as poss, which may even be the Defy. Try a Flyer
sprung saddle on it to make it more comfy and reduce road vibration. Inspect
Defy composite seatpost monthy for cracks as I busted two of them on my Defy.

[RBW] Re: Therapeutic effects of night riding and eating

2018-10-17 Thread Jon Spangler
Andy and all,

Most of us (cyclists, pedestrians -- even drivers) seriously underestimate
our visibility to others, no matter what time of day or year it is.
Your mention of wearing "reflective vests" is worth adding some additional
details.

CLASS 2 SAFETY VESTS -- NOT RUNNER'S VESTS
I use and recommend wearing an ANSI "Class 2" reflective vest at night, in
traffic, or
wherever visibility is compromised (rain, fog, sleet, etc.). Combining a
neon lime or international orange vest made of
mesh or polyester fabric with wide reflective stripes visible 360 degrees
around (including vertically) works very well.
(Avoid cotton, vinyl, or canvas-like fabrics to ensure you won't drown in
your own sweat.)
My latest vest cost me $16 at Economy Lumber in Oakland, CA just three
months ago.

Your local hardware store, Home Despot/Lowe's, or safety supply outlet, as
well as U-Line, Grainger's, and other
business supply houses will have what you need. Make sure there is room
underneath for any
extra layers needed in very cold weather.

VISIBLE WORK GLOVES
I wear Custom Leather Craft (CLC) *#128 "High Visibility" *gloves (orange
with lime yellow and reflective accents, plus
device-friendly fingertips for those so inclined) year-round on my town
bike. In colder weather, I wear light liners or
fingerless cycling gloves underneath my CLC 128s. (Washing them regularly
renews their brightness, BTW.)
SEE: https://cdn.goclc.com/pdf/2018/work-gear-catalog.pdf (scroll down to
page 71) They are made of synthetic and breathable
materials so they work well in heat or cold.

CLC now has LIGHTED gloves, too: see p.74 of their catalog for their *# L
146 "Safety Viz Pro"* gloves,
a great way to "light up the night."

Wear a brightly-colored helmet and decorate it with liots of reflective
neon stickers.

Reflective legbands (available at many bike shops) are another year-round
essential for adequate "conspicuity."

Multiple flashing red lights (I lover my Planet Bike "Superflash" lights
and my even-brighter rechargeable 50-65 lumen tail light.
And don't forget one flashing white light and one steady white light up
front and/or on your helmet.

Safe travels to you all every night!
