[RBW] FS - saddles, bags, remaining shifters

2019-09-23 Thread Michael Mann
More stuff from the parts stash I know I'm probably never going to use.
4 saddles:
2 kind of ugly but comfortable (if Flite saddles fit you) Selle Italia
Flite saddles with titanium rails. $20/$25
1 Wrights W3N saddle. Good smooth leather, plenty of tension. $35
1 white Bridgestone saddle - take-off from 86 Mile 112. A little dirty, a
little scuffed, but could be just right for your period restoration? $10

3 assorted funky bags. Nothing artisanal, no waxed canvas.

still have the Suntour DT shifters and Shimano friction bar-ends.
Prices do not include shipping.

Re: [RBW] Re: Cheviot Wool Sweater Preorder - Anyone In?

2019-09-23 Thread Joe Bernard
Yep, that's how it works. What you can't do is make a full order for delivery
now with the sweater as a "to be delivered later" part of that order.

Get your pre-order locked in and paid for now, then ad to the cart when the
sweater is ready.

Re: [RBW] Re: Cheviot Wool Sweater Preorder - Anyone In?

2019-09-23 Thread Sean McAtee
David,
That way that I understand this pre-order, is that I purchased and paid-for
a sweater. A delivery charged was added to my order. If I understand this
process correctly (and I may not!), Riv will contact those who have
pre-ordered when the sweaters arrive. At that point (I believe / hope . .
. ) we will have the opportunity to add additional items to the order -
taking us beyond the total purchase needed to earn free shipping.

Hopefully list members who have done this before can chime-in and let me
(us) know whether I am correct in my understanding.

Probably too high for this one. I'll take pics but it's fraying near the
zipper and the strap that goes around the stem pulled off long ago but I
still have it. The map case is pristine though! This may be the first
Rivendell product I ever owned and everyone was gushing over it when I
visited Riv back in 2013 to buy my Sam.

That is a NICE looking build! I especially approve of all that mud caked on the

Enjoy!

Re: [RBW] Re: Want to Buy: Rivendell Brand V handlebar bag

2019-09-23 Thread Bill Lindsay
It's not exactly what I have, but it's very close. I'd pay my price for
the one in the picture or one to match the one I already have.

I guess smallish is in the eye of the beholder. I'd characterize a normal
traditional handlebar bag as "medium". A normal traditional handlebar bag
requires a rack and a decaleur. I would characterize a porteur bag as
"large", which requires a large flat porteur rack. Anything that hangs
from the bars with no rack is 'smallish' in my book. :)

Thanks for that link, but that's too small. I have three different
handlebar bags on-hand that are small like that.

Bill,

I don't have a brand v bag but was looking for something similar and found
this:

https://thecyclelist.co/product/outer-shell-adventure-drawcord-handlebar-bag/

I might be an alternative should you not be able to track down and Brand V.

[RBW] Build + Small Ride Report: Testing out my new Hillborne!

2019-09-23 Thread Nathan F

Hello all! I recently purchased my first Rivendell, the last 55cm Hillborne
in sage green from Rivelo, and have been loving it. Everyone’s builds here
have been a huge inspiration and I’ve learned a lot reading this group the
past few months, so I figured I’d share my build and a mini-ride report.

Roman’s Hillborne build was really inspirational, including his use of
black components which y’all don’t use too often. The cockpit is Nitto with
Paul Mini-Moto brakes, a White Industries crankset, and Ultegra brifters
paired to an RX derailleur. Wheels were built by me and are soon to be set
up tubeless: 32H White Industries Mi5 laced to polished Velocity Quills,
with 43mm Gravelking SK+. I totally forgot about fenders in my initial
parts order, but the rainy season has started so I snagged a pair of P50s
and am currently installing them.

It might need a shorter stem because the reach with the noodles is quite
long, and I hugely underestimated the length of the technomic and should’ve
gone with a Pearl. The steerer tube likely needs to be cut for aesthetic
reasons. And I could see myself buying a dynamo setup sometime soon…. but
other than those very minor issues it’s all done, and I'm loving it : )

To break the bike in, I took in on a nice stroll through Forrest Park here
in Portland. Initially I had planned on doing a harder, much more intense
ride in the park but my stomach was not up to it and I returned home. I
went back the next day to do this ride, which at 40 miles door-to-door and
2000 ft of climbing is much more relaxed. It’s really beautiful out there
now that the rainy season has begun. The ground is softening up and it’s
getting cold and moist enough in the park that you can see your breath in
the air. I bet it’d be even nicer in the early morning. If you’re ever in
Portland and have time for a ride, I’d recommend it. And if you’re in
Portland and haven’t done it, what are you waiting for! Get out there!

[RBW] Want to Buy: Rivendell Brand V handlebar bag

2019-09-23 Thread Bill Lindsay
Riv has offered in the past a line of "vegan" bags with no leather. This
sub-line of bags was called "Brand V" with the classic double-meaning
slogan "Holier than Cow".

One of the Brand-V products was a handlebar bag. It's got two velcro loops
around the drop handlebar top, and two webbing loops that loop around the
brakelevers. It's a tan smallish rectangular boxy handlebar bag.

I have one of these and want one more. I'm not desperate, but I will put
my virtual cash money on the barrelhead for you to claim it. My offer is
$60 shipped to Union City CA, for one of these. If you've got one and want
to convert it to money, let me know.

[RBW] WTT: Zefal HpX 4 for decent mini-minipump

2019-09-23 Thread Patrick Moore
I'd like to replace the tiny miniminiminiminipump that I stupidly sold or
gave away, and I'm looking for something about 6" or 7" long, if such
things exist. Something like this would do:

https://www.amazon.com/Topeak-Micro-Rocket-MasterBlaster-Aluminum/dp/B000FICCO4/ref=asc_df_B000FICCO4/?tag=hyprod-20=df0=309768114180=1o2=g=14448585921652422385c===9030452=pla-364393851807=1

Said minipump would be for very occasional use for my Dahon Hon Solo,
because the seatpost pump looks fragile and I have a little Acorn (I think)
cylindrical bag on the handlebar with room for said mini.

Note: Must work! I've bought minipumps that were nothing but pump-shaped
objects.

For $3 toward postage I'll throw in a $4.99 NIP rebuild kit.

Thanks.

[RBW] Re: Charlie H Gallop!

2019-09-23 Thread Mark Roland
Not sure what it will look like (other than a bike) but it sounds like
"Clemeeni."

But the Bombora has 73 degree seat tube and 42.5cm chainstay and even the
Roadini is slacker and longer, so a love child will presumably have at
least those numbers, with some additional DNA influence from the Clem.

"Sounds like a tigged Sam with longer chainstays."

Which would be a Clem with a shorter toptube for dropbars. Makes sense.
