[RBW] Re: New ride video.

2022-03-19 Thread brendonoid
Thanks Eric! The local trail networks have received a lot of funding and
work over the last few years. Mountain Bike Parks have received the
majority of funding but the trail networks linking them have also benefited.
It has been a great time to be a Riv rider!

It's weird but the description is written like he knows exactly what he
has. If he's the original owner and knocking the selling price down from
what he paid all those years ago it could make sense. Especially if his

[RBW] FS: 56cm 650B Atlantis frameset

2022-03-19 Thread Bill Lindsay
A while back I attempted to do a downsize by moving a couple bikes out. I
made a list of Nine bikes, each with prices. I ended up selling one bike
off the list, which partially solved my storage problem. Search for the
thread titled "Raid Bill's Stable" to see the list I had offered.

One of those bikes was my 650B 56cm MIT Atlantis. I got several inquiries
but only from people who wanted the frameset only. I turned away those
potential buyers because taking apart a bike would make my storage problem
worse, not better.

It appears I -MAY- have an interested party in the wheelset only, which
puts me in position where I can just the frameset. So, this is a PENDING
pre-sale, for sale post. If that wheelset purchase consummates, THEN I
will be offering this frame+fork+headset+seatpost for $1150 plus shipping.

This version of the MIT Atlantis was a brief one. It's got 650B wheels,
and a short enough top tube that a drop bar build makes sense. Shortly
after this, the Atlantis got longer in the top tube, making it better for
swept back bar builds for most people, and went to 700C wheels in the
equivalent size.

The bike lives up in Gold Country, but if the wheels sell, then I'll go
retrieve it and prep the frame. So, if you are dying to pull off a drop
bar Atlantis build, let me know and I'll keep you posted.

Flickr album showing my build: 650B Atlantis | Flickr

My saddle height is 75.5cm

Johnny, the Platy/Cheviot sizing is a bit different in the middle size. The
55 Cheviot is 650b wheel size, but the 55 Platy is 700c.
I have a 55 Cheviot and I am 81cm pbh, but I would have been better off on

Will mentioned the size difference somewhere

I'm a bit curious how many were made, but always assumed they rarely go

I talked to them so more about it but it just doesn't make sense for me
financially right now. Parting it or selling the parts that I had set aside
for this build would end up with me paying more for the frame then I would
for a new one. But for someone needing a complete its a fair deal.

[RBW] Re: Flat Pedal Users: Favorite size/shape?

2022-03-19 Thread Kainalu V. -Brooklyn NY
I love V.P. pedals until they start going bad, which is pretty quick in my
experience. Needing to rebuild a pedal regularly gets in the way of my
minimal maintenance schedule, so I decided to try these Fookers-
https://photos.app.goo.gl/NXPs7HwaAgJwDU8V9 because they’re
cheap/disposable. To my surprise, they’re not disposable. They’re long
lasting, totally great (and cheap!). Maybe not the most stylish, but I
usually can’t see them…

I got a hot tip from Leah on a Platy in Cambridge however it is being sold
as a complete and the price is fair but since I have so many parts its a
pain to pay the higher price and try and offload a bunch of parts to
compensate. If anyone is interested shoot me a message and I will give you
the info. Or if someone wants to buy a bike load of nice Riv pats/wheels
etc let me know and maybe we can partner up. Otherwise I am still on the
hunt. :)

[RBW] Re: Let's talk about the All Rounder

2022-03-19 Thread Chris Zegers
Hi Sean,
I had a an early Waterford A/R which was ordered in 1994 and I recieved it
in 1995 (Burnt orange with gray flannel). One of the best bikes I owned and
the one bike I wish I would've kept. In fact, I have a Nobilette built
Rivendell influenced by that A/R w/700c wheels, which reminds me alot of
that first one, yet is quit a bit better with regard to fit, wheel size,
tire clearance and ride. If you can find one, go for it, I think they are
a classic riding, all road bike that was ahead of the time. In fact, Jan
Haine's ultimate all-road bike is very similarly styled, albeit with
clearance for bigger tires as the early A/R's. Good luck.
Chris
