[RBW] Custom, not a custom

2020-02-24 Thread Chris Balaschak
I'm really looking forward to what comes out of this. I am looking to buy a
US-made frame, built up and complete, in the next year or so. With most
builders, it seems a complete comes out around 5000, maybe only in stock
dimensions, which feels out of reach. (Not to mention so few options for rim
brakes anymore.) On the other hand, non-US made frames, with quality parts,
come in the 2000-3000 range. Nobilette's frames are super reasonable at about
$2800 F/F/HS. I ride a Mark-built Legolas, and have owned a second hand
Nobilette road bike, they are some fine bikes.

[RBW] Re: FS - Tires, misc

2019-08-27 Thread Chris Balaschak
I'm sorry to say I did not measure the width when mounted. I will say based on
my experience, the Gravelking 38s were slightly wider than the Soma 38s. Both
were used on my Legolas, and the gravelkings were a tight fit.

They are great tires, but in the end I've preferred more narrow tires - 28s or
32s.

[RBW] Re: Dropbar width

2019-08-20 Thread Chris Balaschak
Appreciate all the feedback so far. I've got an old pair of Nitto Mod. 165
in 42 that I am going to give a try, as well as a friend's Nitto "classic"
in 45.

My concern about reach is that as I've gotten older, and started riding
longer, I always getting this feeling I need to stretch my back/shoulders
out further as I'm riding. I'll be playing around with stem and handlebars,
and reporting back!

[RBW] Dropbar width

2019-08-19 Thread Chris Balaschak
I am wondering the consensus on handlebar width for a midsized human (PBH
85).

I have been riding 400m Nitto B132s, but feel they are much too narrow at
the brake hoods (maybe 370mm?). However, I appreciate the swoop and dip and
drop - the multiple hand positions. I would like a drop bar with at least
420m at the hoods, and plenty of reach (there are some wider bars out
there, but have very shallow reach<80). What are you riding that is
comfortable, wide, multi-positional?

My main consideration right now, are these, which are kind of wacko-wide.

[RBW] FS - Custom Nobilette road bike (56)

2019-08-13 Thread Chris Balaschak
Hi everyone -
Up for sale is my custom Nobilette road bike, in candy apple red, with
Columbus SLX tubing.
TT is 56cm
I am 5-10, PBH of 85cm, and this bike fits just right. I'd be happy to give
any other measurements if you'd like.

All components included other than: saddle, pedals, pump, bottle holders.
Ultegra brifters, triple, with 10sp in the rear.
Mavic Kysrium SL wheelset
Campy headset

This bike is lightweight, fast, fun; all good things.
Its been up and down the A1A in Florida many times, and over a number of
notches in Maine.
Bike is super clean. As you can probably tell, its a well taken-care-of and
well-loved bike, but I have been putting many more miles on my Mark-built
Legolas.

Asking $1800 plus boxing at the LBS and actual cost of shipping (S
probably $150 max).

Feel free to message me with any questions.
All proceeds going to more bike stuff!

Photos - https://photos.app.goo.gl/AJPxXevGvjpX8vKFA

Thanks!
-Chris
