Re: [RBW] Re: Has a product review or comment system on the Riv site ever been considered?

I would say to Riv's business model that they strive on carrying 1-2
variations of an item and they pick those because they think they are the
best. Sort of eliminates the need for a star system.

HOWEVER! Having review/comment space about ride quality, or a place for
people to post their builds would be cool as it really speaks to showing
off the flexibility each model has!

Re: [RBW] Wider Bars, Shorter Stem? Switched to 48cm Noodles.

2018-05-21 Thread Forrest Harvey
David,
Just finished building up my BMC and I went with 3.5" of spacer, 18* 90mm
stem and a pair of the albastache.
This is mated to a nitto 65 but I may need to switch to a 0 setback
seatpost as I still feel a little stretched for ALL hand positions.

Re: [RBW] Re: Wednesday Musings: Are We A Swap Meet?

2018-05-16 Thread Forrest Harvey
As someone who is new (but has been a non subscribed looker :) ) I
appreciate both the FS and NON FS posts.
What is nice about the FS posts on here vs. places like craigslist/bay, is
that I trust the seller a lot more and the pricers are far more fair. I
would much rather support someone who appreciates bikes vs. someone who
flips something for a high dollar because it says nitto.

I also enjoy reading all of the conversation threads, lots of knowledgeable
people on here and it's great to learn!

Re: [RBW] Re: Canti Sam vs BMC monstercross

2018-05-14 Thread Forrest Harvey
I had the pleasure of picking a 5.3 frame from Mike a month or so ago.
Almost done with the build and will report back on the ride.
I know the wheelbase isn't has long as most Riv bikes. Mike doesn't
recommend the bike for extending touring over 1.5/2 weeks
.It is a no nonsense bike though and everything has a purpose
FD cable stop with barrel adjuster (pulley as well so you can Top or Bottom
Pull)
Rear Canti Stop (Nice to have but obviously not needed with V brakes)
All cables run on the top tube (Cleanest looking IMO and easy to service)
Welds are super clean!

*Build*
Chris King HS
XTR 9 speed FD
XTR 9 speed rapid rise RD (not positive this is going to work)
DA 9 speed bar end shifters
Tektro Brake levers
Nitto Albastache bars
Velo Orange 90mm stem 18* rise
Nitto seatpost
Paul Mini moto's
White Industries G30 crankset with a wide low set up (44/24)
Atlas Rims to WI MI5 Hubs with Firecross tires
King Water cages (the bike has mounts for 3 bottles which is nice!)

[RBW] Re: Sim Works Getaround Bar clamp diameter?

The coating is both a gift and a curse.
Provides a nice finish/doesn't wear very nicely!

2018-05-08 Thread Forrest Harvey
Local Pickup Hopefully! (SF Bayarea)

Looking for something to mount a smaller wald basket on. plus some other
gear.

Needs to work with Mini Moto brakes (I know some of the nitto racks don't
play well unless the brakes are canti)

Open to most options (silver preferred)
