[RBW] Brooks and Tectron
Any problems If I use Tectron Sno-Seal (beeswax paste) on a new, previously unsealed Brooks honey-colored saddle? I'm out of both Proofide and Obeneuf wax. The local REI only has the Tectron and I don't want to pay for shipping for a small container. Thanks for your advice. [RBW] OT: apartment hunting near El Segundo, CA
Reaching out here...my son (23, recent mechanical engineering graduate of Georgia Tech) is taking a job in El Segundo. He's been online searching a few sites for apartments in the nearby areas. His job site is right at a train stop and he's looking for a place which will let him do mass transit and bicycle and not drive. Anyone have any advice/leads/recommendations? The shorts would be for motorcycling, to be worn under leathers. The bicycle shorts I wear for bicycling and sometimes wear for motorcycling don't have the front opening. Makes for a challenging situation at pee breaks. And, shorts-with-a-fly would make bicycling pit stops a little easier, I skuppose. My LL dates from 1999, built by Joe Starck, painted by Joe Bell (sage green, contrasting head tube and insets) My desire was for a sport-touring bike, meaning that every once in a while I'd load up with more than the Carradice bag off the saddle, option to fit fenders (which I did) with wider tires (running 700 x 30 now) using the long reach sidepull brakes. Its a joy to ride, as I suppose all Rivendell bikes are. I think when I ordered the frameset in 1998 the cost was $1200. I'm not sure when this model was phased-out but at the time it was the decision between the LL custom or standard size/standard paint Heron.
