Re: [RBW] What drop bar do you use on your Riv?

2024-02-08 Thread saintruggler
I don't presently own a Riv (gasp!) but since others have responded about
non-Riv frames I'll presume I am still welcome to respond.

I recently swapped from a 46cm Nitto 177 (Noodle) on one bike, which I
sold, to a 52cm Nitto M137 on my new touring bike. The M137 appears to be
similar (or the same?) as the Crust x Shaka, but in a slightly narrower
width. The 52cm measures out to around 47cm at the hoods, but to me it
feels pretty darn similar to the width of my old Noodle. The difference is
definitely in the backsweep (less) and flare (more) of the M137.

Happy to share this non-scientific comparison!

available for $900 shipped CONUS.

I'm planning to keep the other parts, since no one nabbed the complete

Re: [RBW] Re: Shimano Deore XT BR-M750 Direct Pull V Brakes

2023-03-10 Thread saintruggler
Replying to say that I'm in the same boat--currently have a set of Paul
Canti levers installed, but I'm planning a switch to long-pull brake
calipers.

Ideally, I'll trade the Canti levers for someone else's Love levers.
However, I may just try out the Canti/long-pull brake combo this weekend.
Y'know, for science!

2022-03-24 Thread saintruggler
Crosspost from i-bob list:

For sale is a like-new (2 rides, fewer than 10 miles) silver Soma Highway
One bar in 38cm width with 31.8mm clamp size. This was installed and set up
on my partner's touring bike, but she decided drops are not for her and we
promptly switched back to a swept back bar.

This is the smallest size offered for this compact, shallow drop bar. Check
out the specs at https://www.somafab.com/archives/product/highway-1-bar.
$50 plus actual shipping takes the bar, shipped from Willamette Valley, OR.

For someone seeking a *complete 3x9 touring cockpit*, I will sell the bar
as it's currently set up in the attached photos for $150 plus actual
shipping.

Additional components include:

   - Dimension 125-degree, 70mm stem (silver)
   - Tektro R100 (short reach, short pull) brake lever (black)
   - Tektro in-line cross levers, for braking from the flats (black)
   - Microshift 3x9 bar end shifter set (black, with black pods)
   - ESI thick and comfy bar wrap (black)

Bumping this. In addition to seeking a set of Paul Canti or Paul Love
levers, I'd be willing to trade for any quality (vintage or otherwise) long
pull lever in glossy black finish, suitable for pulling V-brakes.

Additional notes: the Paul Cross levers are capable of being run as
standalone levers, in addition to their intended in-line functionality.

[RBW] FS: Dirt Drop bars + stems

2021-04-26 Thread saintruggler
Cross post from ibob list:

After years of hoarding and re-configuring several builds for myself, my
spouse, and a friend, I've decided to "catch and release" several 'dirt
drop' style handlebars and some accompanying stems. Prices do not reflect a
+3% PayPal fee, and actual shipping will cost extra. Items are located in
W. Oregon for those who are inclined toward local pickup.

Take $10 off a handlebar's asking price if you "bundle" a bar/stem combo.

Photos and general condition can be viewed
here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/pajbL3vDU6nyWsGE7. More photos will be
added today, so hang tight if some items aren't showing yet.

Handlebars:
Specialized WTB RM-2 dirt drop bar (26.0mm x 585mm end to end) - Fair-Good,
zigzag marks around clamp area - $55 or $45 with stem purchase

Soma Portola bar (26.0mm x 530mm end to end) - Very Good, tape residue and
brake lever marks - $40 or $30 with stem purchase

Original Salsa Woodchipper bar 7075-T6 AL version (31.8mm x 46cm at the
hoods) - Good-Very Good, minimal wear - $25 or $15 with stem purchase

Salsa Woodchipper 2 bar 7050-T7 AL version (31.8mm x 46cm at the hoods) -
Good-Very Good, decals starting to fade away behind stem clamp area,
includes blue Lizard Skins tape but *not* the brake levers or barcon
shifters in photos - $30 or $20 with stem purchase

Stems:
Specialized Dirt Drop quill (26.0mm x 100mm, short insert) - Fair-Good,
matches the vintage RM-2 bar nicely - $25

Nitto Dirt Drop quill (26.0mm x 80mm, longer insert) - Very Good - $50

[RBW] WTT: My Fleecer Ridge Standard tires for Endurance casing

2021-04-08 Thread saintruggler
Cross post from ibob list -

I have a lightly used set of Rene Herse Fleecer Ridge (700x55) tires in the
Standard casing. These have less than 200 miles on them, with little to no
sign of residual sealant from having been set up tubeless.

In my continuing saga to trade with other ibobs instead of buy/sell, I'm
seeking a set of either Fleecer Ridge or Antelope Hill tires in the more
burly Endurance or Endurance Plus casing.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with my tires, cosmetically or otherwise.
In fact, they are fantastic tires and I highly recommend them for anyone
whose bike can fit them! I bought these to try out, realized I *really*
love the tread design and size, but I ultimately want a more durable tire
for long-distance mixed terrain bikepacking on gravel forest roads and some
single track.

Help me find the peace of mind I seek by upgrading to more durable tire
casing. I'm willing to cover the ~15-20% difference in sticker price
between my Standards and your Endurance/Endurance Plus.

Incidentally, I have a brand new-in-box, never installed Brooks B72 that I’ve

the merits of the B72 versus the sprung B67, which I’ve had installed on my

[RBW] Re: Compass Antelope Pass 700 x 55: the fat tire arms race continues

2019-05-27 Thread saintruggler
Resurrecting this thread. I am searching for a Compass/RH Antelope Hill
tire to make a pair. (I already have one--looking for a match). I'd be
willing to trade for a brand new Schwalbe tire of your choice.

PM me,

Eric

Ryan,

Can you please share photos and details (rim width, etc) of how the Antelope

Looking to install a modern 1-1/8" stem and associated handlebar (31.8mm clamp

experience or advice to share?

Secondly, anyone have a black one to sell, such as Nitto MTC-04 in black?

[RBW] FS: Blackspire Sub4 pedals

2015-07-06 Thread saintruggler
I am selling a lightly used pair of flats made by Blackspire. I bought the
Sub4's to try out as an SPD alternative for a 6-day mini-tour this Spring. I
must say, these pedals are even gripper than I expected, especially with a pair
of rubber soled shoes. I did not miss my SPDs on the hills at all, which is a
complete affront to everything I've been led to believe about riding clipless.

I ultimately decided I like riding in my old school Shimano SPD shoes better
than sneakers. I'm selling the Blackspires for $70 shipped CONUS.

E-mail the_struggler AT hotmail DOT com to nab them.

Cargo racks for $75 more to whomever buys the bike, or $100 separately.
Make an offer on the frameset + wheelset only.

I will make a deal for a local (PDX) cash buyer.
