Re: [RBW] FS: Size 61 Canti-Romulus, built in 2006. $850

2015-05-19 Thread gordo
Hi All,

I bought Ray's Canti-Rom and have come to the conclusion that it is just a
bit too small. I'd like to offer it for sale for the same amount that I
paid - $850 picked up in San Francisco. I'd prefer to sell the bike
locally but will consider shipping if need be (at buyer's expense).

I will also include the free extras that Ray gave me, including a canvas
Baggins Banana Bag, canvas Nigel Smythe Lil Loafer, original Romulus flyer
from Riv, and spare Ruffy Tuffy tire (brand new).

http://tinyurl.com/q9hf29x

The specs on the bike are as follows:

61 cm Canti-Rom frameset (a few scratches, some areas touched up with
paint, one tiny ding in top tube)
Shimano 105 headset
Nitto quill stem
46 cm Nitto Noodle handlebars
Shimano 8/9 speed bar end shifters (currently set up on friction mode
although I can adjust it to index if you'd like)
Shimano brake levers
Shimano 105 front derailleur
Shimano Deore LX rear derailleur
Sugino XD crank - 175 mm arms with 26/36/46 rings
Ultegra hubs laced to Mavic Open Pro rims (hand-built by Rich at Hands on
Wheels)
lightly used Rivendell Ruffy Tuffy tires 700x28
8 speed cassette (11-32)
Brooks B17 saddle (black)
Nitto S65 seatpost
Tektro Oryx brakes
Shimano A530 pedals (clipless on one side, platform on the other)

Cheers,

Eric

Wow! That was fast. It appears that the Canti-Rom will have a new home locally.
I am 99% certain, so I am calling it a Sell at this point. Thank you all who
expressed an interest.

#yiv1104706249 I am selling the first Rivendell that I ever purchased new.It is
a 61 cm frame, built up in April of 2006. I purchased it on April 8,2006. It
has long been one of my favorite Riv’s, but I have not ridden it toooften in
the past few years, mainly because it still has drop bars. I muchprefer Alba’s
these days, which all my other bikes now have.  I just can’t see this frame
without theNoodles that it came with. It really is a road bike, and most of my
rides thesedays are commutes or fireroads. The RBW descriptive about this frame
was :  “The Romulus is a road frame, virtually interchangeablewith the
Rambouillet, and it rides dreamily. But if you're reasonably skillfuland have

appropriate tires). The cantilver brakes open up the area under thecrown, and
let's a lot of things happen there. When you pick your parts fromthis list,
we'll make sure they all add up to a smart, working bike. Anyquestions, just

fretting about, and most certainly is not a design goof. But some folks can't
live with it, and if you're among 'em don't get one ofthese. SIZING: Refer to
page 76 in the catalogue, to get your PBH. Your framesize is PBH minus 25 to

miles on the frame and drivetrain. I don’tbaby my bikes, so it has reasonable

bikes. However, I don’t wash and cleanthem often, and barely did a cursory

[RBW] FS: Size 61 Canti-Romulus, built in 2006. $850

2015-05-04 Thread r . shine

I am selling the first Rivendell that I ever purchased new. It is a 61 cm
frame, built up in April of 2006. I purchased it on April 8, 2006. It has
long been one of my favorite Riv’s, but I have not ridden it too often in
the past few years, mainly because it still has drop bars. I much prefer
Alba’s these days, which all my other bikes now have. I just can’t see
this frame without the Noodles that it came with. It really is a road bike,
and most of my rides these days are commutes or fireroads.

The RBW descriptive about this frame was :

*“The Romulus is a road frame, virtually interchangeable with the
Rambouillet, and it rides dreamily. But if you're reasonably skillful and
have reasonable judgement, you'll find it a delight on fire trails as well
(with appropriate tires). The cantilver brakes open up the area under the
crown, and let's a lot of things happen there. When you pick your parts
from this list, we'll make sure they all add up to a smart, working bike.
Any questions, just ask, we're happy to answer anything. Toe clip overlap
will happen on 55cm & 57cm frames, depending on your tire, and fenders.
It's not a big deal, not worth fretting about, and most certainly is not a
design goof. But some folks can't live with it, and if you're among 'em
don't get one of these. SIZING: Refer to page 76 in the catalogue, to get
your PBH. Your frame size is PBH minus 25 to 27. If minus 25 lands you on a
61 and minus 27 says a 59.”*

I have about 3800 miles on the frame and drivetrain. I don’t baby my bikes,
so it has reasonable beausage, but no dents. Always garaged. Mechanically,
I take good cars of my bikes. However, I don’t wash and clean them often,
and barely did a cursory wipe-down to prep for this sale. Just not my thing.

The longest single ride I took on this frame was an Oregon coast ride in
2007. I also have ridden it in several local centuries.

I am asking $850 + cost of shipping. If you live within 30 minutes of my
home in San Francisco (near the Golden Gate Bridge) I will bring it to you.
PayPal is OK, otherwise a cashiers check from USPS.
