2024-02-06 Thread Johnny Alien
I find that pedals like that look wicked but are not a hazard at all. At
least I have never had any issues like I would with some MKS pedals (my
bear traps are great looking but deadly). I haven't tried those specific
pedals but they are similar to the Stamp pedals I love and I can't
recommend them enough. Super grippy.

Re: [RBW] For Sale: Leah’s Stuff

2024-02-05 Thread Kim H.
@Pam -
On my Clem I have the Lambda/ Monarch pedals with pedal extensions, all of
which have pedal spikes. For me to protect my shins and my rain pants, I
bought these:

https://www.amazon.com/Neoprene-Leg-Gaiters-Protection-Windproof/dp/B00YHPGHGU/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=leg+guards=1707193415=8-7

I highly recommend them. I have had them for five months now. They work
very well in protecting both my shins and pants.

[RBW] For Sale: Leah’s Stuff

2024-02-05 Thread Bicycle Belle Ding Ding!
I have my Purple Pocket Platy frame here, waiting for its very unique parts
to arrive. This bike was supposed to get parts I already own, but the
vision has evolved. It went from a fun bike with some pops of color
to….well, full 1980s My Little Pony. Remember when you were a little girl
(ok, mostly the RivSisters will feel me here), and you played dress up, and
there was a stash of princess dresses AND jewelry AND shoes AND tiaras AND
wands? All for the taking? And there was no wrong answer so you WORE IT
ALL? This bike is a version of that. So, what was a simple idea has become
a complex idea, and it bore out in the purchasing of custom parts with lots
of wild anodizing. You’ll have to see it to believe it. But you’ll wait
another 6 weeks, because I’m pretty sure that’s how long it will take for
them to arrive.

Never one to have things in a “parts bin” I want to move along these
treasures. Photos and descriptions coming in second post.

Thanks for looking,

Purchased new in summer of 2020, have worn them a good bit and enjoyed
them while riding. I've found one size smaller fits me better so I'm
 putting these up.

Some wear to the tread, you can see in the photos where the tread has
been worn flat. If you're curious about sizing you can check out the
 Bedrock
 sizing page and even print
 out an actual size template.

 Thanks!

Re: [RBW] For Sale: Bedrock Cairn sandals, Size 13

2023-08-03 Thread Eric Marth
Hey Ted — I wear an 11.5 EEE when sizing allows. A lot of production shoes
don't do it for me. A size 45 regular in Birkenstocks suits me. I'd
recommend printing out the sizing template in my original post to be sure.
I sized up for width and got a footbed that was longer than ideal.

[RBW] PSA Sale on Shimano Deore M591 9-Speed Rear Derailleur

2023-03-07 Thread maxcr
With all the news about Shimano discontinuing lines and what not, I thought
it might be wise to stash a couple of things just in case, but I didn't
want to spend a lot...

I found the Shimano Deore M591 9-Speed Rear Derailleur on sale at REI for
$38.93, that's not bad for good performing RD, it's not silver, but at that
price I'll take it.

https://www.rei.com/product/798943/shimano-deore-m591-9-speed-rear-derailleur

Hope this is helpful

[RBW] For Sale: Classic Dale Saso Tandem Bicycle 53cm/51cm (CTT)

2023-02-26 Thread Brewster Fong
For Sale: Classic Dale Saso Tandem Bicycle 53cm/51cm (CTT)

This is a circa 1988 Dale Saso custom-built tandem with mostly Campagnolo
parts. The fillet-brazed frame itself is in excellent condition with little
signs of wear and no rust or dents. The workmanship is superb as
illustrated in the pictures of the fillet brazing on the head tube and seat
post cluster (photos 4, 5 and 6). The color is a silver-blue fading to
silver, front to rear with a color-matching Silca pump. The components are
mostly Campagnolo. The frame was custom-ordered in the late 1980’s and
built by Dale Saso, a custom bike builder located in San Jose, CA. The bike
is currently located in San Francisco, CA. Would prefer a local sale in the
SF Bay Area. I am listing this for a friend who is an architect as can be
seen by his artful freehand notes

 Frame: double diamond configuration (no diagonal “marathon” tubes).
Fillet-brazed.
 Seat tube: measures 53cm (captain) x 51cm (stoker) measured center of
bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube (ctt).
 Top tube: 21” captain’s top tube x 25” stoker’s top tube (measured center
to center).
 Head angle: 73 degrees.
 Fork Rake 1-3/4”
 Bottom Bracket: oval (“boom”) tube connecting both bottom brackets
 Wheel size: 27” clinchers but adjustable for 700c.
 Hubs: Phil Wood hubs
-Front: 108mm (with standard spoke holes with Campagnolo quick release – 40
hole
-Rear: 140 mm (with standard spoke holes) comprised of 26mm brake space,
78mm body and 36mm (6-speed) cluster space. Allen bolt release. 40 hole.
 Rims: Super Champion Competition 27”
 Tires: Specialized Touring 27” clinchers
 Headset: Campagnolo Nuovo Record
 Brakes: Mafac cantilever Campagnolo Record braze-on front and Mafac brake
levers
 Pedals: Campagnolo Superleggero with ALE toe clips and Alfredo Binda

[RBW] For Sale: Rapha touring knickers, black 34 inch waist

2023-01-22 Thread Bill Lindsay
For sale: a used pair of black Rapha Touring Knickers, no size labels, but
I would call them a 34 inch waist. They fit baggy and roomy. The
bagginess is why I'm selling them. They are too baggy for my tastes, and
much baggier than other Rapha riding shorts and knickers that I own and
love. $25 shipped.

Pics:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/45758191@N04/52642527555
https://www.flickr.com/photos/45758191@N04/52642346199

https://www.flickr.com/photos/45758191@N04/52642090161

They are used, and imperfect. Various small blems, and a spot of like red
paint on the backside. Priced accordingly.

Backstory:

I'm a pretty big Rapha guy. I mostly buy Rapha stuff on sale, or second
hand on Poshmark, but I also like to buy at retail from Rapha retail stores
that I find on my travels. Last fall I got some sweet stuff at the
Amsterdam Rapha store.

One of my favorite and most worn Rapha garments is a pair of touring
knickers. I got them on Poshmark so I don't have any idea what vintage
they are. I liked them so much that I wanted to buy more. A lister on
this list or maybe IBob listed two pairs of Rapha Touring Knickers. They
didn''t look quite the same as the ones I loved, but the size as advertised
seemed right, so I bought them. They turned out to be far baggier than I
wanted or expected, so they were low on my priority list for things to
wear. Then, my 2022 became a year of weight gain, and recently these were
the only knickers I fit into. So I used them a fair bit. I committed to
get back to normal weight, and part of the S.M.A.R.T. goal program was to
get rid of these knickers as soon as I can fit into my skinnier ones.
Today is the day! 15 pounds down, 15 to go!

Glad to hear it, Matt!

I went with the Adams cap because among guy who embroider hats (I'm not
one) these are considered to be some of the best. And I have some friends
who've had these over the years and really liked 'em. I could do without
the logo on the strap and the little Eiffel Tower on the closure piece,
myself.

I'm satisfied with the color, bill, fit, crown, etc.

I'm trying to find a cap that is even more plain for the next run. It will
be an unstructured, pigment-dyed, six-panel cap, very similar to this
round.

observe at the moment. I can't guarantee this will be a good fit for you.

[RBW] For Sale: Close-Outs

2022-08-24 Thread Peter White
As "OldGeezerdom" slowly sets in, I'm starting to pair down the variety of
products I sell. I've put all Spanninga and Pitlock products on close-out.
The prices are very low as we want to clear these items out to make room
for more SON and Rohloff hubs, SON, Busch & Müller and Supernova lights,
plus TA and Stronglight products. We sell lots of other stuff too, but
those things don't take up much space, so I'm not closing them out.

Once a product line goes on close-out, we no longer import from that
company, so once an item is gone, it's gone for good.

$150 Shipped CONUS
I am switching to Endurance Plus casing as I will be using my Clem H for
commuting to and from work, while also maintaining the ability for gravel
jaunts. These tires all have about 300 miles on them, and would like to
sell them all as a bundle.
Thanks!

[RBW] For Sale: Shimano Dura Ace 11 Speed bar end shifters

2022-07-12 Thread Ben Adrian
Dura Ace 2/3 x 11 bar end / tri / time trial shifters. Left friction. Right
is index only. should work with 5800, 6800, 7000, 8000 and whatever number
Dura Ace called their 11 speed Rear Derailleurs. It will also work with
Tiagra 4700 RD if paired with an 11 speed cassette.

I got this crazy idea to run an 11 speed setup on my Riv. I started buying
parts. After doing some reconfigurations, I have decided to go in another
direction.

I got these used and never installed them. Shifters, original box, one
housing, one cable, cable stops, other misc. stuff. It's what I got from
the previous seller.
$85 shipped

[RBW] Closet Sale - Nitto Racks and stem, Sugino Crank

2022-07-03 Thread Collin A
Howdy All,

As promised, I have been whittling away at my closet stash and have a
couple interesting bits that I think may be of interest to the Riv group.
Discounts and cheaper/combined shipping for multiple purchases.

Photos Here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/fq8pdK8MorGTXYNN7

1. *Nitto/Riv Basket Rack - $220 plus shipping*: In very good condition,
and was used on my Wife's Homer until she realized she disliked carrying
stuff and then I carried our picnic and beach supplies on my Appaloosa. I
used it on and off with a basket exclusively and it worked very well for
that purpose. The top if the platform's nickel plating is still fully
intact, with almost no sign of a basket every being attached to it. I've
got a slightly modified (I cut a hole in it to make room for my lights)
basket that I can include as well to get you rolling if you don't already
have a basket.

2. *Nitto 32R rear rack - $200 plus shipping*: Again, a beautiful nitto
rack with little use. I used it on a couple tours/trips, but it is in great
condition. Has provisions for a rear light and has a separate deck for a
top load and panniers.

3. *Sugino XD Triple Crank with 50/40/25 chainrings 170mm - $70 shipped: *Older
sugino crank that has been well loved on an old commuter that has long
since been converted to SS (yay flatlands of Sacramento), but with newer
used-but-not-worn chainrings. Tapers and threads are in working condition.
Standard chainring spacing too, not the slightly weird offset ones of the
newer sugino cranks that require sugino-only chainrings.

4. *Nitto Tallux Stem 120mm length and 25.4 clamp - $50 shipped*: Another
well-loved piece of gear that has lived on 3 Rivendells now! That means
that there are some markings along the stem showing previous insertion
heights...not the prettiest, but doesn't affect the function of the stem
obviously. Photos are of it on my commuter still, as I am waiting on
replacement bars and then I should be able to get it shipped out by 7/8.

4/5. Centurion ProTour Frame and Campagnolo wheels - not exactly
riv-themed, but they are posted over on Ibob if interested.

Happy July 4th weekend! Its actually cool enough to go on a mid-day ride
here in sac without collapsing from the heat.

Cheers,
Collin in Sactown

[RBW] For Sale: Riv Nitto Platrack and Sackville Platsack

2022-05-15 Thread WETH

For Sale: a Nitto Platrack and matching Sackville Platsack combination.

I thank Bill Lindsey for the description below taken from his for sale post
last year. He is a far better writer than I, and I thank him for his
permission to quote his text:

"The Platrack is a Nitto tubular steel platform specifically designed to
bolt to the top of your Marks Rack (M1) or your Mini Front Rack (32F). The
Platrack converts your smaller rack into a much larger platform. The
Platrack has its own pair of auxiliary struts, stiffening and strengthening
the assembly.

The Sackville Platsack is a bag designed specifically to attach to the
Platrack.”

I am including Platrack struts that measure 40 cm long.

$180 shipped for both the Platrack and the bag. (Local sale within 30
minutes of 20895 zip code for $160) I prefer to sell them together as they
belong together. If you are desperate to buy one piece and not the other,
let me know. If I can find a buyer for each half then I might elect to
split them up ($100 shipped for the Rack and struts. $120 shipped for the
Bag.)

Please see photos for condition of items here; there is a small hole in the
Platsack above the zipper:

[RBW] For Sale, Kalloy 26.8 post / OvejaNegra frame bag

2022-05-11 Thread Richard Rose
Greetings folks. With the acquisition of my Clem I now how two items for
sale that may be of interest.
I scored a Nitto seatpost so the original Kalloy is available. I know this
is not a high ticket item so just make me an offer.
I know Rivendell folks are fond of their traditional "bike luggage", but I
have this beautiful and brand new OvejaNegra medium frame bag available. I
purchased this for my Jones bicycle a couple of weeks prior to lucking into
my Clem "L". The low top tube Clem is not frame bag compatible & I will
likely be selling the Jones. Asking $140.00 shipped to you. This bag is
currently $155.00 plus shipping from the fine folks at OvejaNegra.
Thanks for looking!

[RBW] For Sale: Riv Silver Triple Crankset

2022-04-22 Thread Bill Lindsay
You just ordered a smallish Rivendell frameset and don't have a crankset
picked out. All you know is that all the Rivendell Silver models are sold
out in the shortest 170mm length. Bummer!

Well, I just parted out a small Rivendell, and so I've got a 170mm triple
crankset available. This one is kind of extra special in Riv-Street-Cred,
because it is not 44/34/24 like the current Rivendell triple. It's got the
rings of the original Rivendell Silver offering: 43/35/24. That's super
weird and awesome. Nobody will know, and you'll forget. Riv themselves
know it doesn't really matter. They did odd chainring sizes just to be
different.

Wait for the next shipment of Silver cranks and pay $250 (or whatever they
actually cost) -OR- buy mine for $200 shipped in the US.

Pics prove they are essentially un-used. I didn't even wipe 'em off yet.
Here's the link to my "stuff for sale" flickr album. Scroll to the
bottom. https://www.flickr.com/photos/45758191@N04/albums/72157634724093620

ALSO, if you have a Riv Silver crankset in 173mm and just want to trade
arms for arms, let me know and I'll do that.

[RBW] For Sale 52cm Yves Gomez, plus WTB and/or trade

2022-04-11 Thread Bill Lindsay
The Yves Gomez keeps coming up in the context of a forever bike,
particularly among those who don't dig long chainstays. I have a 52cm Yves
Gomez, and I'm willing to set up a different bike for that role in the
stable. I'm offering the 52cm Yves Gomez frame/fork/headset for $1000,
plus shipping.

Old-timers like me remember that the Yves Gomez retailed for $1000 or
thereabouts. Is it fair or reasonable to ask $1000 for a 10-year old
frameset that retailed for $1000? We'll find out, because I'm also
offering $1000 plus shipping for a 58cm Yves Gomez frame, fork and
headset. If my price is low, somebody will buy mine. If my price is high,
somebody will sell me one. The fact is that the functional equivalent is
the $1750 Platypus, and a vocal subset of listers claim to prefer the short
chainstay models.

I'm also totally open to a zero dollar trade: My 52cm Yves Gomez for your
58cm Yves Gomez.

These fit nicely with Rivendell Silver 1 and Silver 2 shifters and I use
them on both. Solid brass. Number 12 brass cup washers, also known as
countersunk washers.

13. Microshift RD-R47 R10 rear derailer – $35
The box rates this as max 28t in the rear but other members have reported
it’ll shift up to 32t. Brand new in the box. Use with a double or triple.

14. Blue Lug reflective triangles – $15/each
New with tags removed, never installed. Willing to sell separately. One
blue and dark gray. One green and purple. Rare opportunity to know which
colors you’re getting!

15. Dia Compe 981 cantilever brakes – $20
Pads are shot! Could use a nice once over with some Simple Green and a
brush. No hanger wires or clamps.

16. Wald 137 basket — $10
Black, slightly warped and bent, a few spots of rust. Still a good,
functional basket.

17. Suntour Accushift barcons – $50
Some scrapes and scratches as shown. Seems they were dressed up a bit with
Sharpie (notice the purple hues), both levers are like this. Nice movement,
for friction or indexing but by all accounts work best for friction
shifting.

18. Shimano BR-AT50 cantilever brakes — $20
Pads are shot! Could use a nice once over with some Simple Green and a
brush.

[RBW] For Sale: 65cm Specialized Sequoia frame, fork, seat post, and FSA head set

2022-01-17 Thread Julian Westerhout
For Sale: 65cm Specialized Sequoia frame, fork, seat post, and FSA head set
. Blue. I believe it to be a 1983 model.

This would make a great poor man's Rivendell Rambouillet. I've owned both
and they feel like siblings to me.

This is a really nice Sequoia, with one semi-major caveat. It came from
specialized with two bottle mounts — one on the top of the down tube, the
other underneath the down tube. Someone prior to me in this bike’s life
drilled two holes in the seat tube for a third bottle, but they are not
quite straight, nor are they nut-serted or tapped. I put tape over the
holes and then put a Velo-Orange bottle mount in the proper spot (covers
the holes) — you can see it in the photos.

Overall I’d call the paint pretty good — there are a few scuffs and on one
fork leg and one seat stay the chrome is showing through a scrape. I am
including the seep-down cable end for the rear derailleur cable mount on
the chain stay.

This is a wonderful riding bike — I had one and sold it a few years
ago, missed it, so bought this one, and have recently acquired another
frame in the 68.5 cm size which fits me better. Due to the water bottle
mount issue I’m selling this at what I consider to be a bargain price.

$100 plus actual cost shipping (I’ll pack it carefully at no cost) within
the CONUS.

PayPal F preferred.

Yes, you read the sizing correctly. It’s a 57cm frame and I included the

I hope the pricing is considered fair. I’m not personally a fan of price

[RBW] For Sale :: TK [long]

2021-12-18 Thread David Hallerman

Hello!

TK – short for “to come” – is a publishing staple I learned about in my
computer magazine editing days. As you worked on a piece, you might
insert “TK” in place of a word, name, phrase, sentence, or paragraph as
a reminder to indicate you hadn’t forgotten anything, but you just
hadn’t fleshed it out yet.

So with the holidays here, I do not want to dive into my boxes of bike
things, take photos and write up descriptions, pack said boxes, and then
deal with or further burden the busy national shipping system. Instead,
come the new year, I’ll be looking to sell some of the following
categories of parts and such, a mix of new and mildly used, but now all
just TK, to be fleshed out in 2022.

*pedals*: mainly Shimano mt. SPD, new & used
*derailleurs*: mainly Shimano 9-speed mt. & road
*brakes*: cantilevers, sidepulls, levers
*bottom brackets*: all British thread, mainly new
*clothing*: some wool, including new gabardine knickers
*tires*: three pairs 700x35, plus some new road
*cassettes*: mainly Shimano 9-speed, some 8-speed, mainly new
*chains*: mainly Shimano 9-speed, high-end 7/8-speed, all new
*bar tape*: leather and not-leather, many colors, several brands, all new
*tools*: got some more, plus some nice price drops
*chainrings*: 110/74s from TA, Sugino, Vuelta, RaceFace, Salsa, more,
all new

*headsets*: threaded 1-inch, mainly new
*books*: some classics and other cycling publications I think you’ll enjoy
*forks*: 1-inch and 1-1/8 inch, carbon with metal steerers
*seatposts*: mainly 27.2mm, plus others
*stems*: mainly threadless, some quill, both 26.0 & 31.8 clamps
*bicycles*: about 6 steel and titanium road bikes and framesets from
Bridgestone, Ibis, Burley, and Litespeed, all sized around 56cm

Please think of this post as a friendly head’s up. Or as the cycling
stuff equivalent of “save the date.” And if you’re looking for something
particular in any of those 17 categories, send me a note; it could be
mutually helpful.

For now, happy solstice season to you all! May your days be well-stocked
with more light.

Smiles,

Dave, who if he had a tagline in this peer-to-peer world of buying and
selling bike stuff it would be “Let my overbuying become your bargain”
which is especially true as he and his cycling wife downsize

+ + + + + + + +
Hudson Valley NY

P.S. We’re just downsizing. We’re still cycling. Even when these sales
are done, we will still have many pedals, derailleurs, brakes, bottom
brackets, clothing, tires, cassettes, chains, bar tape, tools,
chainrings, headsets, forks, seatposts, stems, and bicycles.

P.P.S. If you’ve read this far, thanks! Plus, maybe you can help me. I
want to buy a Brooks B.17 titanium-rail saddle, antique brown or honey,
new or near-new. I’ll pay a good price and/or I have a black ti-rail
B.17 to trade.

[RBW] ¡¡Garage Sale!! Frameset, Nitto, Paul, Rene Herse, bags, etc.

2021-11-01 Thread Andrew Turner
Here's the link to all the images. I'll try and stay on top of it and
delete the ones that sell. https://photos.app.goo.gl/dyDZAVfj6t6ppzNa8

*1: FW Evans Frameset: $400 + half shipping *
*This is an English-made frameset made in the late 80s, early 90's with 531
tubing. Great for touring, commuting, randonneuring, even 'cross. The
frameset sports a fresh powdercoat, custom decals and brass head badge
made by yours truly. The frame had some modifications done to it by Amigo
Frameworks here in Nashville, including but not limited to some brazeons
for fenders, a pump peg, extra waterbottle cage brazeon, etc. Small but
helpful stuff. There's been some chipping here and there but nothing too
crazy.*

*F**rame size: (C-C): 63ST, 58TT *
*Steerer has been recently extended for 1" threadless use *

*Color coordinated NOS Cane Creek 1" headset + bike jerks stem cap I'll
include all the 1" headset spacers I have, carbon and silver alloy. *
*Also includes the 1" to 1-1/8" shim for modern stems *
*Max tire size: 35mm slicks. Those bald spots inside the chainstays are due
to the rear QR coming loose and the Bon Jon's rubbing, so it's a very snug
fit. 32-33 is a much much better fit. 38's WILL NOT FIT. *

*2: Tubus Lowrider racks + vintage REI Novara small panniers: $60 + free
shipping**I bought these for the FW Evans but never ended up using them.
Both are clearly worn but I figured if anyone's pannier-curious, these are
a good entry-level option. *

*3: Ruthworks Black Ultralight Brevet Handlebar Bag: $90 + free shipping *
*Very lightly used, there is a subtle stain on the inside pocket but
otherwise pretty darn immaculate. I did remove the stabilizing elastic
chords, but I found they weren't all that necessary. *

*4: Nitto Bar End plugs, Blue: $20 + free shipping *
*Mostly been living their lives in my small parts bin and they deserve
better *

*5: "NOS" Ultegra 1" threaded headset + brass spacer: $70 + free shipping*
*I bought this NOS in the box from Analog a while back, mounted it once but
quickly replaced it...I don't even think it's seen any mileage. some slight
wear marks on the logo from storage but otherwise in great condition. Sorry
for the grease pics, I'll clean it all up before shipping it. I did one
modification, I cut a little notch out of the crown race as it was crazy
hard to install...doesn't affect performance whatsoever, just makes it a
little easier to install. *

*6: Paul Funky Monkey 7/8" Cable Hanger + fancy brass barrel adjuster: $50
+ free shipping *
*Fits around a quill stem, great condition. Mostly lived it's life on a
bike that never got ridden. *

*7: Rene Herse Front Cable Hanger, Grooved + Ferrule: $50 + free shipping
**Brand
new just out of it's packaging, never used. *

*8: Pair of Rene Herse Bon Jon Pass Extralight tan tires: $105 + free
shipping *
*These have less than 300 miles on them, a little dirty but tons and tons
of life left. The gnarliest thing the rear tire faced was 2 pinch flats on
a gravel ride resulting in a humiliating walk back to the car with a flat
tire, so that one got a little worn down on the sidewalls where it meets
the rubber. Doesn't look like any serious damage was done and it still
holds air fine. I don't recommend running these tubeless though. I never
did on these but on a previous pair, they didn't hold air very well and
took a ton of sealant to seal the thin sidewalls. But man are they fast. *

[RBW] For sale 53cm Rivendell Frank Jones Sr

2021-07-31 Thread A. Douglas M.
Hello all!

I’ve got my FJS up for sale. You may have seen that I bought it under the
pretense that it was a 55cm. Alas, it’s a 53cm. Full geometry is on the
blug/blahg/blog, but Riv advises this is for PBHs of 79.5 to 83.

Currently set up with a Sugino crank Wolftooth/Willow 40/32 (Phil BB) and a
White Industries 16t freewheel and Surly 18t fixed cog on Velocity A23 rims
laced to formula (origin8) hubs. Low mileage Gravelking SS+ 35s.

Velo Orange 80mm stem, Nitto B115 45cm bars, newbaums, TRP levers with new
Ultegra cables and housing. Brakes are Tektro 556.

Nitto S83 seat post with a Brooks Pro. Pedals not included.

Chain has 20 miles on it.

This was my first time riding a long chainstay Riv. I’m a fan. It feels
just as nimble on the street and trail. I believe 3 of these were made in
this color and size.

Price is $2300 shipped obo. Photos at
https://photos.app.goo.gl/S1K7dDWiZmMcWKSs5

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you!

[RBW] For Sale: Riv Nitto Platrack and Sackville Platsack

2021-06-29 Thread Bill Lindsay
I'm selling a Nitto Platrack and matching Sackville Platsack combination.
Newcomers won't know what this thing is, so I'll explain briefly

The Platrack is a Nitto tubular steel platform specifically designed to
bolt to the top of your Marks Rack (M1) or your Mini Front Rack (32F). The
Platrack converts your smaller rack into a much larger platform. The
Platrack has its own pair of auxiliary struts, stiffening and strengthening
the assembly.

The Sackville Platsack is a bag designed specifically to attach to the
Platrack.

I bought this Platrack/Platsack assembly from Riv in ~2013. It has lived
on my Hillborne, my Bombadil, and most recently on my wife's Yves Gomez.
It's been used on several S24Os but almost exclusively was an 'event'
setup. The vast majority of its life has been spent on the shelf.

So, if you already have a Mark's Rack -OR- a Mini Front Rack and want a way
to massively expand its platform temporarily (or forever), this may be your
thing. If you are an old timer and have kicked yourself for missing out on
this Rivendell exclusive, here's your chance again.

The Platrack struts have been cut to the right length for an Yves Gomez,
which is a 650B wheel with medium tires. If your bike runs 700c wheels,
you will almost certainly need to buy longer struts. Some people have set
up their Platrack to reach the mid-fork braze-ons, and if that is your
strategy, these struts will be plenty long.

$90 plus shipping for the Rack. $110 plus shipping for the Bag. $175 plus
shipping for both the rack and the bag. I want to sell them together, but
if you are dying to buy one part and not the other, let me know. If I can
find a taker for each half then I will elect to split them up.

[RBW] For Sale: My last stashed CX70 brakeset

2021-06-02 Thread Bill Lindsay
I pulled together this CX70 brakeset for another lister's WTB build.
Before they go back into the parts box, I'll give the group a shot at
them.

Up for sale is an almost totally complete Shimano CX70 cantilever
brakeset. You get

Both calipers and their mounting bolts
Both stock straddles
The original and unused Shimano compound inserts reinstalled for this sale
All four Long spacers and bolts
SIX Medium spacers and bolts (two extra). Four installed + two extra
TWO Short spacers and bolts
The original installation manual which has the map of spacer and washer
configuration for your cantilever post width and your rim width

These brakes have been on a couple of my builds over the years, so they've
had some use, but I'd call them mechanically spot-on. $90 shipped.

[RBW] For Sale. Two rarities: CX70 brakes and R14 rack

2021-05-04 Thread Bill Lindsay
While rummaging through my inventory I found two things that are long gone
and essentially ungettable at any price.

Shimano CX70 Cantilever brakes. I have an extra set that I can live
without. Lightly used. You'll get both calipers (one whole bike's worth),
both link wires. All the spacers and bolts to work with a wide array of
post spacing and rim width. I'll provide them with stock Shimano inserts
or salmon koolstops. $100 shipped

Nitto R-14 rack. This is the rear rack with the tombstone that was/is
ideal for large Sackville saddlebags. You'll receive the top platform, a
full set of the Nitto Daruma bolt hardware assemblies for grabbing both
sets of stays. You will receive one pair of stays, medium length,
straight. You will need to buy another set of long stays from Riv to make
it complete. $100 shipped to me. This is the item you'll buy from
Rivendell: Nitto Rack Hardware - 35cm straight struts, pair – Rivendell
Bicycle Works (rivbike.com)

[RBW] For Sale: Sugino XD2 172.5mm crankset with options

2021-04-15 Thread Bill Lindsay
Up for sale is a used Sugino XD2 triple crankset with 172.5mm arms. I
bought this who knows how many years back from Rivendell. I've become a
devoted low-Q zealot, and these cranks are not low-Q (~165mm).

If you want the arms only, $70 shipped. If you want me to make a crankset
for you, just let me know what you are after. I'll pull something together
send you photos and quote you a price. I could make you a super compact
double with a guard, a triple, or a road double. If your forthcoming
project needs a bottom bracket, I can probably help you there as well.

[RBW] For Sale: Saddles, Drive Train from Joe Appaloosa, other small items

2021-04-11 Thread Roberta
The saddles were all great, but I found B67 and B68s, purchased from RBW
members better for me, so I'm selling all the saddles I've tried over the
last four years. Shipping not included, but RBW and iBob forum members get
10% off CL price of saddles, which would probably cover most of the
shipping.

Brooks B17 Black Excellent Condition. $100

Brooks Flyer Black Excellent Condition. $100
https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bop/d/philadelphia-brooks-flyer-black/7305270595.html

Brooks Flyer Black Good condition on riding surface but scuffed in back.

Selle Anatomica NSX Black Excellent Condition. $100
https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bop/d/philadelphia-selle-anatomica-nsx-black/7305278060.html

(I really liked this saddle and thought it superior to B17 for comfort.)

Selle Anatomica X2 Excellent Condition. $100

Selle Anatomica Saddle Sauce $10
https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bop/d/philadelphia-selle-anatomica-saddle/7305284974.html

Other items:
Fuchsia color handlebar Tape--2 rolls. New. I think it's Green Grips
Brand. $15 for the pair. Perk up those handlebars!
https://analogcycles.com/product/green-grips-bar-tape/

Possum Merino Neckie--Raspberry. New. Sold out at Riv. It's beautiful,
but I think this will be too warm for me. $30.
https://www.rivbike.com/products/possum-wool-neckie-cable-charcoal?_pos=1&_sid=99669a798&_ss=r

Sackville Strap $10. New. I bought this for my Banana Sack, but it is too
wide. I'd also do an exchange for a 10-14" strap that is not as wide so I
can use it as intended.
https://www.rivbike.com/collections/bags/products/long-buckle-sackville-leather-strap-15-each

Pedals that came with Joe Appaloosa. $15. One pedal is perfect. The
other has minor lateral movement, so the pedal "clicks" at the top of the
stroke. I've sold the Joe A and the new owner put on his own pedals.

Pedals I purchased from a wonderful list member because I was getting a new
bike and needed something within a few days. These are very nice touring
pedals, no issues. I ended up replacing them with the Clem pedals, just
because they were thinner. $5 (These have good reviews on Amazon, but I
just cannot find the pedal.)

Cork Grips. $15. These are nice in they have the barrel shape (very
comfy) and I had them on Joe Appaloosa for awhile. I bought this extra set
since changing handlebars means ruining the grips and I liked these. Since
sold the bike, so no need for these.

Drive Train takeoffs from Joe Appaloosa, from when I changed it to 1x11.
Ridden almost exclusively on pavement, never in rain. Always stored
indoors. Approx 3000 miles, used for three years. Since don't have the
proper degreasers, these come with plenty of dirt (no extra charge :) )
and need to be cleaned.

Rear Derailleur. Shimano Deore M591 $30
Front Derailleur. Shimano FD-CX70 $25
Cassette with hardware. Shimano HG. $20 . 36, 32, 28, 24, 21, 18, 16, 14.
Chain. $10.

Shipping not included, and it could take me up to a week to pack and ship,
so please let me know if you're in a hurry.

[RBW] For sale: 54cm Roadini

2021-03-02 Thread nlerner
Hi, all. On an impulse last summer, I went for a 54cm Roadini, built it up
with a variety of components I had on hand (except for the TRP brakes in
silver, which had to come from Germany, I believe), took it for a few
rides, and, now, realize that I just have too many bikes. My excess is your
gain! I'd like to sell the complete bike for $1,300, shipping incuded in
the CONUS from zip 02446. Here's the component list other than the stock
headset, bottom bracket, and seat post that came with the frame from
Rivendell:

   - Wheels: Shimano XTR hubs and Mavic MA40 rims (dark anodized though the
anodization is worn off of the braking surface), Soma/Panaracer NewXpress
   700 x 35mm tires
   - Drivetrain: Shimano 105 drivetrain/brifters, 9-speed Shimano cassette
(which is actually a 10-speed drivetrain, but I've found it shifts more
smoothly with a 9-speed cassette and chain)
   - TRP brakes in silver
   - Andel 46/30t crankset (brand new; installed but not yet used)
   - Nitto technomic stem
   - Soma Highway One bars
   - Camp-and-go-slow eastern rattler bar tape
   - Brooks B17 w/ Ti rails in green
   - MKS GR-9 platform pedals
   - Crane bell
   - V-O Moderniste bottle cages

Pics here: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmQXsDos

Let me know if you have questions or want additional pics.
Thanks,

Neal Lerner

[RBW] For sale: Nitto racks, Nitto and Clockwork Stems, Silver Shifters

2021-02-04 Thread John M

I recently “re-homed” my Hunqapillar frameset and need to sell off some
parts before my innate urge to hoard overwhelms my latent good sense.
Paypal friends and family is preferred. Thanks!

Photos here: PHOTOS!

*Silver Shifters v1*. Excellent condition. Used on the Hunq for about
year before switching over to bar-ends. $40 shipped.

*Clockwork custom quill stem. *31.8 clamp diameter, removable faceplate,
80mm extension and some upward angle (20 degrees?). Bought from a list
member who had it built for his Hunqapillar and Jones Bar combination.
Think of it as a chromed (and cheaper!) version of Riv’s new “Faceplater”
stems. Good condition. Some scratches and signs of wear on the chrome
and small amount of rusting in the clamp area. $65 shipped.

*Nitto Pearl quill stem.* Fair condition—some scratches and dings from
use. 100mm extension and 25.4 clamp diameter. This seems like an older
version with lovely knurling on the two bolts and a disc “plug” instead of
the typical wedge to expand the stem in the steering tube. $40 + shipping.

*Nitto Mini Front Rack 32F.* Good condition. This is a small front rack
that mounts to fork braze-ons (or “P-clamps”) and through the fork crown.
As seen here:
https://www.rivbike.com/collections/racks/products/nitto-mini-front-rack-32f-20020.

This version has the front light mount. $85 shipped.

*Nitto R-14 Rear Rack.* Good condition. Long rack struts are
approximately 34cm while the shorts are about 13cm and bent. This was
attached to my 54cm Hunqapillar frame using the upper and mid seat-stay
mounts and cleared the 2.25 knobby tire I was using. $95 shipped.

Thanks for looking!

John

contacted me first).

Regards,
Bones

Re: [RBW] For Sale: Saddle, Shifters, Crankset, Dynamo

2021-01-06 Thread Philip Barrett
David Hays - you just sent me money, I'm the buyer of the saddle not the
seller! Paypal will not let me reject the transfer, please rescind your end.

Bones - I think there's confusion going on here? Did I buy the Brooks or
not?
