[RBW] Re: Anyone run 700x50 tires on a Sam Hillborne?

2022-08-22 Thread Pancake
On my 56cm Sam I rode 700x50mm Schwabel G-One Allround tires (VO Voyager
rims which are slightly wider than Atlas rims) - no problems. But I
wouldn’t have ridden any wider tires. 2mm+ gap between tires and frame. But
I was just as happy riding 44mm Snoqualme pass tires before that.

2022-08-21 Thread Joe Bernard
You may want to ask yourself why you care if a person with a bicycle wants
the biggest possible tires on said bicycle. Your "irrational" may be
another person's "perfectly rational", such are the vagaries of life.
HAHA!!!

Well you're only about the 5000th person to ask this over the years ..

Just ask yourself, what are you really gaining, is a few mm's really going
to make a notable difference ? Where does this irrational urge to max out
tires come from anyways ? You might at first, then you'll quickly forget
about that tire too, and you're right back to where you started, just
riding along ! Frankly, tires of themselves don't make as much difference
as imagined and promised to do. I understand . The urge to defend our
choices is often irresistible.

700x50 Gravelkings rubbed, but just barely, on my old size 60 Waterford
built Sam H. 48 were the best I could do.
