Thanks for looking! They are quite something, aren't they? Re: [RBW] Re: Beautiful Japanese bicycle prints. Anyone read Japanese?
I showed the page to one of the staff members of the weekend Japanese School that is housed at my daughter's school and her quick assessment was similar to blakcloud's wife. She said the site read like a personal blog illustrated with seasonal images. There is a linked essay on the page but I didn't want to presume and ask her to read enough to tell me what it was about. I wonder if it the personal site of one of the many passionate Japanese fans of the classic French randonneur tradition. Lovely images. [RBW] Re: Beautiful Japanese bicycle prints. Anyone read Japanese?
I am experienced in Japan shopping - I had a fiberglass fly rod rolled from scratch and finished, and have purchased a good deal of fly tackle, including English bags at a better price that I could get them from the UK. The next thing, is Japanese businesses are prohibited by law from accepting credit cards from banks not based in Japan. For some reason, paypal is an exception. The language barrier is everything. If the shop does not have English, and most don't, then you must have a broker. I have used noppin.com (formerly crescent-shop) with great success for at least a half-dozen purchases. After signing up, you make an inquiry on the shopping contact board. They will need a link to what you're asking about. They will make the contact and give you a quote, their commission is 20%. Payment is by paypal, and you must register your paypal on their site. Again, not a problem. The quote will include shipping to them, but not to the US. When they receive the item, they will send you a shipping invoice. They only ship Express Mail, which is about $35, but you will have the item in 4 days. All transactions are in JY, so use xe.com to determine how much you're spending. There is another brokerage business, rakuten, but their shipping is nowhere near as easy as noppin - with rakuten, you must set up a shipping account with a third-yet party. At noppin, Masamichi and Shimzu have excellent English, and are easy to work with. Wow, those are nice. It looks like the artist in certainly in tune with our style of bicycle culture. I will be interested in the answer to your question.
