[RBW] Re: Big Bike Ride Round Town - steel bikes prominently displayed

2013-06-22 Thread Ron Mc
San Antonio is making good progress on their greenways trails with a goal
of eventually tying them all together. They have 68 miles completed
(disjointed) and another 85 miles planned that link them all.
The paths all follow the creeks( and SA River), which provides shade over
much of the distance, and plenty of shady stops.
They have already gone past Austin, in that, their paved paths are twice as
wide, while the skinny Austin paths are falling apart (probably didn't help
funding that Austin named theirs after Lance).

about 40 miles, mostly on dirt. As this was an exploratory ride, we didn't
know what to expect. A few portage sections due to construction, re-routing
a bit due to fences, and significant time spent patching tubes due to goat
heads. But a wonderful day nonetheless (how could it not be)!

downtown is great to ride, easy to get around in traffic, and easy to get
