a flat saddle like a fi'z:k Arione.

Re: [RBW] Re: Glorius and Wilbury available now under the radar sales

2016-01-04 Thread Ryan Fleming
Hi Ryan from the South

Hope you are high and dry...flooding in US sounds dreadful!

My bikes
Early 70's Peugeot PX-10 set up as SS w moustache bars
1997 Rivendell A/R built in Waterford WI w moustache bars
2001 Riv Road Custom - Curt G. w "Dream" bars
1993 Bridgestone X0-1 - w moustaches

Hi GRRLYRIDA - you have the pink mixte custom; am I right? That is
certainly a very lovely bike, and I'm glad to hear that it's as versatile
as I hope and expect. I'm thinking of a deep maroon colour; thought it'll
go nicely with the cream. Thinking 650B wheels with fattish 40-ish tires

I have a custom mixte. You'll love it. I just did a gravel ride during the
Christmas break and took it on a week long bike tour to Utah in September. I'll
travel up to Mount Hollywood this weekend. The bike is so versatile that you
can do a lot of different riding with it. And of course I use it for shopping.

Apparently this has been an "off menu" option for years..it was mentioned
on the Blug some time back. It's too much cash for my shallow pockets, but
I'd love to have a red Wilbury like the one I rode at RBW HQ many years
ago. The lugs are stunning!

[RBW] Re: Glorius and Wilbury available now under the radar sales

2015-12-31 Thread Ryan Fleming
Yupfinally pulled the trigger on a custom mixte and had a fairly long
chat with the boss today (of Rivendell) ...I had been expecting that the
lugs would be like the Glorius/Wilbury, but there are other less ornate
options. Don't get me wrong ,those are gorgeous lugs. I had thought to put
moustache or Albastache bars but Grant gently steered me away from those
and suggested Boscos or the new Moose bars. I allowed as how I like those
bars on the Appaloosa...the Choco bars; actually I really like them.

Point is for a custom, now the wait is not really that long...could have it
by Spring. I was told , though that at some point they may raise their
custom prices; I'm surprised they've stayed at $3500 for as long as they
have...

I will probably have Riv build it, in spite of our tanking dollar. I really
love it that Riv doesn't oversell you , tooI'm sorry, but I am not
mechanically inclined so I'll put myself in the hands of Mark and Grant
though I do have my pet part picks...Whoo-hooo. It'll be different from my
other bikes for sure.

Happy 2016 to all on the list and may all your bikey and lifey dreams come
true!

Ryan Fleming...Super excited in Winnipeg

[RBW] Re: Glorius and Wilbury

2013-03-20 Thread Charlie

I do have an original Rivendell mixte which I never built. I purchased
both an Atlantis and mixte some years ago and later concluded that I would
not be able to raise the handlebars high enough for my very upright age 60+
riding style. I recently sold the Atlantis and would like to sell the
 mixte. It is a 52mm.

The price is $2100 plus shipping. In recent discussions with Kevin about a
custom mountain mixte, he did offer me $1800 toward the custom for the
mixte. This was a bit more than his last offer when we had a similar
discussion about I year ago. (I only mention this because I think
somewhere there is a post about his last offer and I didn't want anyone to
think i was just inflating his offer.) I still may do the custom, but I
want to experience my recently built Yves Gomez mixte from a size
perspective before I make that jump.

Pictures of the mixte here as are pictures of the Yves Gomez (in British
Racing green).

[RBW] Re: Glorius and Wilbury

2013-03-19 Thread rb
I will say that even though the initial cost was very steep, this Glorius
is without a doubt one of the nicest riding bikes I've been on...though
it's way too small for me [it's my wife's]. It's springy and fast; not
sure what the secret is. Everyone who rides it has the same experience,
and they're not swayed by aesthetics either (and this horrible photo
doesn't give one a good aesthetic sense anyway). We've had lots of people
test it out...everyone comes back smiling and shocked that it's so fast and
comfortable.
