Already getting abuse, er, love, in the field! https://www.flickr.com/photos/32311885@N07/17409335341/ I have to say after a slightly longer than S24O that the ballance between lightweight and hearty is perfect. The double wall is brilliant. It kept my morning coffee a near steady temp with it at 35˚F out, so I could slow sip and warm up to the morning. I brew 20oz of coffee into my Klean Kanteen double walled thermous, then have three cups in this, all piping hot. Great job getting everything just right, Brad! My new ACW mug made it in to the office today. Should have commuted on the orange XOXO I suppose, to be matchy, but Riv content preserved with SH in the background, sporting its new ACW pin on the handlebar bag no less. -Jeff Silver Spring, MD On Tue, May 5, 2015 at 9:27 PM, Philip Williamson philip.william...@gmail.com wrote: I got mine today! Got mine too! Very fast shipping. It's a great looking cup, definitely 'petite' size compared to my normal in house mug's but I think it'll do nicely w/ my Helix as sweet pour over kit. Stay tuned for it to star in some coffee outdoors shots coming to the list soon! :) Patrick and others, are you using a piece of cloth instead of filters for your pour over? I've heard about it but never tried. Can you taste a difference or is it just a cheaper/less impactful way of brewing up? Re: [RBW] Re: New ACW mugs inspired by the orange...
Tony, I've not done a taste test of our organic cotton bandana material my wife sews the filters from, but they sure work great. Or, yes, just use a bandana and don't mess with sewing it into the cone shape (but a bandana is a lot bigger than the Helix needs, or a full sized drip cone for that matter). She also made me a tea infusion bag for my Scottish breakfast tea, so I'm all set! Grin. Glad it arrived quick for you! The aeropress works fine if you use the base/funnel and is very sturdy. I too prefer a pourover while on the bike. I've been using a collapsable silicone jobbie, but want to get a helix. I MUCH prefer the shape and insulation too. Stainless should be far tougher than the enamel, but obviously not impervious to damage from crashing a bike on it. [RBW] Re: New ACW mugs inspired by the orange...
In an interesting and related development, I'll actually be drinking caffeinated coffee or tea (Scottish Breakfast!) in this, as my recent baby-step healing included caffein helping rather than blowing up my brain. Fascinating! So I'll be living up to the ACW name! Grin. I ordered this one because my kids pilfered the two blue ones from me. They love them!
