[RBW] Re: Silver Hupe love
After I gouged my Bleriot, I took a careful look at the Silver Hupe while mounted on the bike and concluded the arms were designed too close together around the mounting points, which makes it have a tendency to pop off inwards when riding on bumpy roads. I took the Hupe off, placed it in a vice, and carefully bent one of the arms outward a small bit and voila! It fits perfectly now and never pops off. If only I had noticed this prior to gouging my frame. With the Silver Hupe, for me the seat stay diameter made a difference. On the Quickbeam, with single tapered seat-stays it gouged the paint a bit and didn't want to fit around the larger diameter seat stays. On the Rambouillet with double tapered seat-stays, noticeable smaller diameter, it fit just fine. Man, I am so glad to read this thread. I kept thinking it was just me. Now I can throw mine away w/o guilt. I agree that it should not be sold or resold. Nice people don't do stuff like that.
