[RBW] Re: The last of the phenomenal Clem H’s

2020-01-14 Thread Jason Fuller
Sorry for the slow response, but thanks for the kind words Tom. It's an
FSA Comet crankset / BB with external bearings, which uses an annoyingly
rare chainring interface - but I discovered through internet sleuthing that
it is the same as a Cannondale spec, which Wolf Tooth makes a spider
adapter for, so I have that plus a Wolf Tooth 38t ring to replace the stock
32t. Not sure what the spindle length would work out to on this setup
since it's all integrated.

Seatpost is the stock one, S65 sounds right? It's about 20mm from being
maxed out. I don't love the look, but the ample standover is nice! I
prefer the look over a step-thru so I'll take the compromise.

Very nice build. What bb, bb width, and chainring do you have there? Your
seat post must be maxed out - is that the 300mm S65?

2020-01-06 Thread Reid Echols
Not designed for it, but I for one (and others I know of) have run 650b on 26”
frames with no real problems, other than higher bb/slightly reduced tire
clearance. Even the cheapest Shimano b brakes have plenty of vertical
adjustment to make such a thing happen. So, not “authorised” but likely
possible to make that conversion (as opposed to the other direction, 700c to
650b, which is much more difficult with a canti frame).

Thanks for the input everyone!

Last question about the Clem. Can I run 650b/27.5 on the 45cm? I already
have a bunch of tires and 27.5 is kind of a sweet spot for me. I assume
even with 27.5s, I’d have clearance for a 2.0 mob tire.

John C,

You're about my height, maybe a smidge shorter, so the 52 is a definite maybe.
I need a bolt-upright style and my 52 H was too stretched out for me with the

how much forward lean you prefer.

$750 for the 45s, just so people don't get their receipt and think something
went wrong. Which is still a crazy price for a great frame.

If you're in the market pay close attention to the current geometry page and
ignore the height recs on the Clem pages, the 45cm has more toptube length than
the first gens. I thought my 45 L might be a smidge small for me (5'-7") but
it's perfect. Go buy one!
