Re: [RBW] Stuff stolen from bike
I'm in Charlotte, NC. Not usually a problem. I don't usually u lock my helmet to make sure others can lock to the rack in case space is limited. I found out after the fact that a shoplifter was apprehended at that location and time. So I filed a police report in case any property was recovered. Pam, where do you live? Here in Eugene, which seems to be the bike pilfering capitol of North America, bikes get picked clean in about 5 minutes of inattention. It's about twice as bad here as it was when I lived in the Seattle area & it was bad there. Re: [RBW] Stuff stolen from bike
It probably won’t happen again. I leave stuff in my saddle bag all the time here in Philadelphia and only once did someone rummage through it in 10 plus years. Still a bummer though. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] Stuff stolen from bike
Sorry to hear of the theft. Odd, though very fortunate, that they left so much good stuff behind. I've rarely had to park a bike in a dangerous location, but I do park outside some of our local grocery stores, with my kit in saddle wedges or frame bag and, so far, so good. I even have a HpX frame pump on 1 bike, in full view. However, I very often just wheel my bike through the store in lieu of a shopping cart. Besides the daily kit bags -- repair bits and small daily items -- I use easy on/off luggage: Ortliebs or Carradices with the SQR system, so that if I carry expensive stuff, I can easily take it with me. Bulk package of 52 tp rolls on a rear rack? I'd like to see a photo! [RBW] Stuff stolen from bike
Sorry to hear that news. I’ve had a few lights grabbed in the past. Very inconvenient but also gets your attention as to how exposed a bike can be. I tend to hook my helmet onto the u-lock for safe keeping. In some areas I’ve gone as far as removing my seat post with saddle and bag and carrying it in with me. I did the math and it came to about $400-500 (the Sackville also got me compliments in the local REI). Even if I don’t remove the seat, I do grab my multitool and take it with me. At least if someone wanted to take my seat and bag, they’ll have to bring their own tools. John -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] Stuff stolen from bike
I'm really sorry to hear about your experience. Maybe it was a fluke, since it was the first time in 12 years. I certainly hope so! [RBW] Stuff stolen from bike
I've been riding for 12 years and for the first time ever having parked my bike in various cities all over, someone stole my helmet, went through my bags and stole a little bag w/my patch kit and my multitool. They didn't steal lots of other stuff. I carry everything. But I guess I may start packing everything up and carrying it around. I keep hoping it was a prank and my stuff will be returned. It's just stuff. I'd give it to them if they really needed it but it's the total lack of disrepect that bothers me. I usually leave the 52 rolls of toilet paper on the rack while I run into Trader Joe's but now how do I run all my errands? May need to take the trailer and pull it around the store. But they may think I'm stealing stuff. Gladly they didn't steal my USB werks, my cheapie blinkies, seat cover tucked under the seat, my $20 cash for change, my bamboo straw, my folding scissors, my reading glasses, my small roll of electrical tape, my tire lever, my spare zip ties, laminated maps, cable for u lock. I think I still have my sunglasses but may need to check. Thankfully my dyno lights are bolted on. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
