What a beauty! Congrats to the buyer. I would have been very tempted had I
seen this an hour ago.

To whoever bought this, if you don't fancy that crankset, I'd be interested
in buying it. (I know, I know, it's a long shot.)

2021-07-09 Thread Cyclofiend Jim
Two quick points -

Please let's keep this post on topic. It is a for sale post for a specific
bike, not a general Rambouillet thread (which I'd love to see discussed - I
removed several posts here which deserved a separate thread topic.)

If you are interested, please contact the seller directly.

Sure looks like a 56 or, maybe 58, to me. Remember that the Rams were
proportioned to encourage people to size "up" from what they typically
believed they needed. Even more so than other Rivs of the era, they had
proprtionally shorter top tubes and lower bottom brackets.

Re: [RBW] Re: FS - Rivendell Rambouillet

2021-07-07 Thread Bruce Herbitter
The green was my favorite color, but only the blue was made in the smaller
sizes I need. I still have my first year Riv Road. (The Road has a level TT,
the Road Standard has an upslope TT.). It is a wonderful bike and gets most of
the miles. I converted it to 650B so I can get 38 mm tires in. It is quicker
handling than the Ram is and I truly enjoy whichever one I am on. Congrats on
your acquisition. I know whoever gets the green Ram in this original thread
is going to love it too.

Reading posts kvelling over the Rambouillet delights me for a special new
reason - I’m the very lucky guy who bought the NOS 56cm Ram frameset that
Gerard Gunhouse sold here less than a fortnight ago.

As someone who owned an original Waterford-built Riv Road Standard, bought
during the company’s first year, and regrets selling it a few years ago,
this new and perhaps better chance (fatter tires are better) at Riv
All-Roadism - in perfect emerald green no less! - is a source of unexpected
joy.

I’ll post some photos as the build goes along. And thanks again Gunner,

the bike is GREEN?

Very nice, top shelf components, a steal for $2300, IMO.

I would love to buy it and it would fit me perfect but I fear would lead to S-1.

Re: [RBW] Re: FS: Rivendell Rambouillet

2014-11-20 Thread bingomck
Hi all, I've gotten a few sizing questions. Normally I could answer
quickly! But unfortunately bike is with the mechanic in Keene, NH while I'm
in the Bay Area. I can call him to do measurements if necessary, but I'll
also ask if anyone in the group with a 56 Ram could take a measurement or
two and confirm?

The center of bottom bracket to top of seat tube measurement is ~56.5cm.
From my research online, that means this is a 56 Ram. This is the geo chart
from RIv for that size.

*Size*

*Seat Angle*

*Head Angle*

*Fork Rake*

*Top Tube*

*Chain Stay*

*BB Drop*

*Stand Over*

*56*

*72.0*

*72.5*

*4.5*

*55.5*

*43.5*

*7.7*

*80.8*

I'm not sure what the 80.8 stand over refers to (what size tires). Maybe
someone with 28s can measure?

Also, I'm sorry to say I'm not interested in a trade and am only selling
complete.

Here's a link to the pictures
again: https://www.flickr.com/photos/88267393@N02/sets/72157649103109202/

This was pre Tektro brakes, pre-tune up (obviously as you can tell from the
lack of brakes and loose cables!).

Hope this helps! Thanks all. The price is $950 + sp.

complete bike tuned and ready to ride- 9sp Dura Ace brifters, Ultegra
derailleur, Ritchey 110bcd compact crank, new Tektro brakes, new BB, new
cassette, new chain, re-packed headset, and new brake cables. Shifts great,
as it should with new drive train parts.

And of course the price includes the Ram!

Thanks all. Hoping to avoid the Bay, but realizing now I might need to go
that route to get some more exposure.

Re: [RBW] Re: fs: Rivendell Rambouillet - 58cm blue

2013-11-15 Thread Patrick Moore
To elaborate on this: I love mine because it is an ideal bike for fun
riding unladen but one that takes 40 lb in the rear (stiff rack) without
undue complaint. This is the particular niche that it fills in my stable.
Much more fun running errands on it than it was on the Fargo (with 35 mm
Kojaks), tho' the Fargo has its own very well fitting niche.

I'd love a Ram that could take 60 mm tires.

Hi Chris --

I think it's absolutely crazy that your bike hasn't sold yet. I would get
it in a heartbeat, but am actually just building up a 47cm Saluki frame for
myself; I'm around 5'3, and besides not needing another bike (will shortly
be getting rid of the 48cm Hillborne frame that was always ridiculously
large for me and pretty much never got ridden), know that 50cm would be too
large.

Just out of curiosity, though, what's the top-tube length? I may know
someone that it could fit and may be interested...

Best,

Liz

2013-09-02 Thread Bruce Herbitter
Chris: The Pasela 1 1/4 is 32 mm. The max size w/o fenders per RBW is 37mm
which in a Pasela is 1 1/2. My 52 cm Ram runs on these 1 1/2 Paselas.
Kenda calls its 40 mm tire a 1 1/2 also. I just got a lightly used pair
for $10 and intend to see if they'll go on. Depends on what the actual size
is after inflation. The fork has more clearance than the brake bridge does.
I am sure 38mm will fit, though I know of none made for a 559 wheel size.

Re: [RBW] Re: FS: Rivendell Rambouillet 50cm

2013-08-24 Thread Patrick Moore
I'd say that $1,750 for a baby is a pretty good deal. I've got one myself
(tho' she turned 12 recently, much to my surprise) and she is definitely
worth it, tho' annoying at times.

Since professional packing and shipping will run $150 or so, I'd say $1,600
is a great deal for a great bike. I love mine -- third owner, turned 8
months old (my ownership) this month. Mine fills a peculiar niche role as
my sole derailleur road bike (I have two Riv road fixed customs and a
Fargo) for longer rides as well as grocery and other errand runs.

What is the build?

Get that saddle tilted right!!!

 Hello All!

Sorry for the post with no pictures- family visiting and didn't have a
chance. I dont know what to say except this is a great opportunity to get a
basically brand new complete Ram for less than the price of a Rodeo frame.
I need to sell this to fund a new project- a baby!!! I have done some
research and think my original price is on the high side (though worth it
IMO). How about $1750 or BO shipped CONUS. I will have it professionally
packed and shipped. Any questions please let me know. I am in Bismarck,
North Dakota if anyone is interested in a local sale. Of course no pedals,
 saddle, or cages.

Re: [RBW] Re: FS: Rivendell Rambouillet 50cm

2013-08-24 Thread Christopher Murray
Thanks Patrick. The bike is stock as it came from Rivendell- a mix of nitto and
higer end shimano(ultegra mostly). This bike has 26 inch wheels like small
bikes should IMO. The saddle was put on quickly for a short ride and that was
it- it wasn't ridden again. Grad school, baby, work, and another new baby on
the way changed priorities pretty quickly. There is no way this bike has 30
miles on it and has always been stored in my heated garage. I hope someone buys
it, rides it like crazy, and gives it the love it deserves.

I figure $150 for shipping boxing and $1600 for the bike. I think this is a
great deal especially considering I know it's history and condition. Calling
this bike used is a stretch.

More info on the Ram:

And here is the flyer from Rivendell:

Thanks,
Chris

My green Ram does not have braze-ons. I have seen a green Ram that the
owner said was purchased right at the end of the model run - it did have
braze-ons.
