But, assuming that your obsessive, compulsive personality (I have one of

logical conclusions, I believe that there are some choices out there. As
with our bicycles, they would not be obtained through standard outlets.

Just my opinion, but I think that as an Atlantis, A. Homer Hilsen, or Sam
Hillborne owner, you might gravitate to this.

Note that the owner has a beard (working on that for myself). I heard
that the owner managed to convert the Seagrave fire truck engine to
propane, so perhaps that helps with fuel costs.

There is really only one choice for the owner of a Hunqapillar. The
Hummer would be much too yesterday's trendy. To hades with the cost of
fuel or effort. It must be a Dodge Power Wagon.

This bad boy will go anywhere you want, albeit with an unsynchonized
manual transmission. Well, heck, we don't need no stinking SIS, do we?

Betty Foy and Cheviot are more subtle. They demonstrate a certain amount
of class and an attitude of nonchalance about girl's bike/boy's bike. They
are nevertheless robust vehicles. Not having one, my suggestion would be
 the following.

I can only imagine Vancouver librarians rolling up to the book

51 sage green Sam. Best bike ever. Get's used every day.
54 orange quickbeam. Super duper fun.
Cannondale Adventure 2 step through hybrid. Permanent baby seat gets used
 a lot.
Electra Townie 7d. My wife's ride which is super fun.
1969 Schwinn Twinn-which my oldest daughter (8) thinks is the coolest bike
ever. Mostly because she doesn't have to pedal. And it has baskets for all
 her dolls.
Jamis Capri 24 that's my oldest daughters ride. Fine little bike. First
one she got to pick out all by herself. I asked her why she likes it
best-she said it makes me feel like I'm a teenager-I'm in trouble.
Surly LHT which usually sees super nasty weather duty. I'm not sure if
I'll hang on to that one but it's a good bike so I probably will.

Needless to say we have never had a car in our garage. My wife stopped
complaining a while ago. So I guess it's ok.

 I hope others play along.

ok. i checked the wires and it looks like i was crimping the wire to the
tail light somehow. when i unbundled the excess wire to the taillight, the
system fires up immediately. i made a bigger loop and that has solved my
problem.!!
thanks guys!

Bumping this. Maybe my asking price is too high? I’m not sure what a used

The original wheelset is high flange suzue front and rear. The rear has
threads on both sides so mine has a 16t freewheel and a 14t fixed cog. The
long dropouts allow this to work. I remember Paul or white industries made
a 2 cog freewheel and I always thought it would be funny to put one on each
side, like a 15-17 and a 16-18 or whatever but honestly the novelty does
wear off of manually shifting even 2 gears plus those freewheels were mega
expensive.
Anyway the 5sp is a sunshine brand from Japan ( probably) I got off a list
member here and the dyno hub is sp brand I think. Whatever affordable hub
they were selling to years ago just can’t remember. I bought velocity twin
hollow rims with non machined sidewalls (crazy to think I can’t remember
Wednesdays lunch but that detail is firmly lodged in my brain) and had them
built at Baer wheels here in Columbus. I don’t remember if the spokes were
butted, who knows 路‍♂️.

[RBW] Re: FS: 60 cm Quickbeam

2024-01-08 Thread 'joe kelly' via RBW Owners Bunch
Update
The ff/hs/bb has sold along with the crank, the original wheels, post and
the 5sp rear wheel. This leaves me with a pile o’ parts!
I have sks fenders, downtube shifters on bar end pods, albatross bars,
technomic stem, campee front rack, two wald baskets lg and sm, eyc front
light, Bm rear light, brooks b.17, randi jo cover, Mks sneaker pedals, Jack
brown green tires and the front dyno wheel.
For pricing I’m asking half of what Rivendell sells the item for new.
Everything is in good used condition. On the dyno wheel I used my best
guess got what a hand built wheel is worth.
For shipping I would ask that buyer and I split the actual cost. I would
ask for payment of items then a second payment that would be half of
shipping. Clunky perhaps but I think it’s at least a fair way to do it.
I’ll attach a pic of the price list.
Thanks
Joe

[RBW] FS; SP Dyno wheel bundle

2024-01-14 Thread 'joe kelly' via RBW Owners Bunch
Sold almost everything from the quickbeam even kept a few things to put on
my old Bridgestone. What is left is the Sp dyno wheel and the Jack brown
green tires.
So I’m gonna try selling them as a bundle. Wheel is a SP dyno hub laced to
a Velocity Twin Hollow rim. I bought the parts from Rivendell and had the
wheel built here in Columbus at Baer Wheels. I’m pretty sure the spokes are
double butted but I can’t remember so assume they aren’t and be pleasantly
if they are. It was the last thing I added to the quickbeam before cycling
faded out for me so very probably less than 500 miles. The tires are in
good shape, the one from the front has more tread than the other but both
still have the checkerboard intact with lots of life left.
Asking $250 for the bundle. Asking buyer to pay half the shipping as a
separate payment once it is determined.
Thank you
Joe

[RBW] FS; Pile o’ parts! Dyno wheel, lights, brooks, nitto etc

2024-01-11 Thread 'joe kelly' via RBW Owners Bunch
Update
The Quickbeam ff/hs/bb has sold along with the crank, the original wheels,
post and the 5sp rear wheel.
Thanks
Joe

Sorry for that clunkiness of this for sale post. The Google group machine
seems especially cranky this morning and would not let me make one post
with everything in it.
Finally, extra special bonus for buyers of multiple items. First you will
save a little on shipping, who doesn’t love that, but also you wil get to
pick from one of the following bonus items; 1.hunquapillar post card,
unsent, 2. Old man Peterson’s ferrous velocipede sticker, 3.entmoot 14
patch.
Thanks
Joe

2024-01-11 Thread 'joe kelly' via RBW Owners Bunch
Update. Bars and stem sold! Fast!
Dyno wheel is a SP SV-8 that I bought from Rivendell when they sold them.
Laced to a velocity twin hollow. Hand built here in Columbus at Baer
wheels. I am almost certain the spokes are double butted, I can’t imagine I
wouldn’t have sprung for that but it has been a decade. Assume they aren’t
and be pleasantly surprised if they are I guess. Wheel was the last
addition to the quickbeam so very low miles before cycling faded out for
me. Less than 500 miles?
Thanks
Joe

[RBW] FS: 60 cm Quickbeam

2023-12-08 Thread 'joe kelly' via RBW Owners Bunch
Hello
I have decided to sell my 60 cm quickbeam. I bought it used and customized
it with lots of stuff from Rivendell. I had a wheelset made that is a 5sp
120 rear hub and a dyno front hub I got from Rivendell with velocity twin
hollow wheels. It has lightsfront and rear, a sackville small, fenders,
campee front rack with wall basket and net. Nitto stem with albatross bars,
nitto post with broooks b17 and randi jo cover. Sugino crank with mkx
pedals. Original wheelset included too. Bar end shifters and cheapy
derailers.
$1750 obo
Thanks
Joe

[RBW] Re: FS: 60 cm Quickbeam

2023-12-08 Thread 'joe kelly' via RBW Owners Bunch

Stuff I forgot to mention; it’s orange, I don’t want to ship it but would
be willing to drive to meet up, I’m in Columbus Ohio, it has set for a few
years now since cycling faded away and golf took over as favorite hobby.
Has jack brown green tires, front one is flat needs a new tube probably, it
won’t pump up. Has a brass bell.
I loved assembling and riding this bike but I just haven’t touched it in a
few years. Just writing this for sale post brought back so many nice
memories. Maybe it can make nice memories for the next owner too. Hope so
anyway.
Thanks
Joe
