Re: [RE-wrenches] Apollo charge controller

2015-10-11 Thread louis
Howie,A Fan Test is described in the T80 user Manual;Page 26;5M(misc.section).This is a simple Fan test to toggle Fan ON/OFF;Most likely it will turn Fan ON to full speed.(Based on their Manual). For a Real-World test(If there is enough current passing through C.C.);Cover heat-sink/C.C. to prevent airflow through heat-sink.Wait for temperatures to rise and monitor;Fan will come on and ramp-up from a low speed to it's highest speed. If this is left in this condition long enough;once the Fan has reached it's highest speed the C.C. should go into a Derate mode and start backing-off the amount of current moving through it.When C.C. is in Derate mode there should be some type of indication of this presented on the C.C. display. If time does not permit;use a Heat-gun and gradually heat-up the heat-sink.Use caution;do not overheat any components etc.If you do not have experience in doing this type of "experiment" I would not advice doing this.Hope this helps.Louis SegarraTech.Department/Field ServiceSolar CowboyzCell#916-212-0282

Does anyone have a decent way of checking whether the cooling fan in an Apollo T80 is working properly?  It is a variable speed fan, but appears to be a bit challenged (making noise, moving somewhat slowly...Thanks,Howie ___

[RE-wrenches] Pg meter reading

2015-10-11 Thread Jay
I have a client who added some extra solar to an existing permitted approved
install and didn't tell the utility.

They don't think they are getting the added amount of $/kWh.

Pg said that's true that they have to calibrate the meter for maximum sell
back watts and it's set to low.

I don't believe it. But anyone have anything to add?
