Re: [RE-wrenches] Radian, Blue Planet and SMA 21 series AC coupled

Sure if the peak voltage is not getting to the battery then low SOC will
result. Programming may be a result of comms issues poor or due to old
firmware.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Radian, Blue Planet and SMA 21 series AC coupled

2022-04-22 Thread Kirpal via RE-wrenches
William,
You can can set the sell voltage to 54.4 and that will help force a fuller
charge prior to selling. Has worked for me on a site that had the same
symptoms.
You will find that these batteries can be 100% at both 55.2 as well as
54.4due to the flat-ish voltage/soc curve.
Hope that helps.
Happy Friday!

Hi Wrenches,

I recently had a friend install a Fronius Primo inverter in California. When he
submitted for interconnection, PG said it didn't meet the current smart
inverter requirements. Here is the response from Fronius tech support:

"The Fronius Primo and Symo line are not compliant with Rule 21 Phase 3. With
the lack of Phase 3 certification, these inverters can't be installed since
June 22, 2020 in any territory of the big 3 IOUs (PG, SCE, SDGE) or where a
listing on the CEC Grid Support (‘Smart’) Inverter list is required."

Is anyone still using Fronius on this list? Is Fronius pulling out of the US
market?

Best, August

Re: [RE-wrenches] Optics will not accept remote programming

2022-04-22 Thread Maverick Brown via RE-wrenches
I think if the MATE3S is left in the settings screen, OpticsRE can’t edit
remotely. Exit the Settings section on the MATE3 (entered with the LOCK button)
and you should be able to use OpticsRE to make changes.

Since you might be rolling a truck, bring the latest MATE3S firmware with you,
especially the newer AC coupling shift software.

The get above 90%, you can force Bulk charge via the inverter charger and that
will charge to the Bulk voltage helping the batteries get a to 90%. But, the
next day, the inverter will just be idle unless ReBulk is triggered. The
inverter will be in passthru and SunnyBoy does the selling. I added AC relays
between the SunnyBoy and their breaker just in case the battery voltage got too
high during off grid periods and other Radian charger events.

Good luck and have fun!

[RE-wrenches] Radian, Blue Planet and SMA 21 series AC coupled

2022-04-22 Thread William Miller via RE-wrenches
Friends:

We are setting up our first Blue Planet system. It is AC coupled with an

The battery SOC is chronically stuck at 90% as displayed by the Blue Planet
BMU.

I think the problem is the grid sell setting is at 54 VDC. Blue Planet
likes 55.2. I’m going to change that setting this afternoon but due to
some mysterious Optics bug, I have to drive to the site to do so.

If anyone has any experience with this kind of setup and can offer any
advice, well I’d be mighty grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Fronius in the game?

2022-04-22 Thread Jason Szumlanski via RE-wrenches
I don't know the answer to your question specifically, but in Florida we
are light years away from Smart Grid requirements. The latest net metering
law debacle here carries us through the end of the decade. I don't think
smart grid is a battle that anyone is going to fight here anytime soon, so
there are plenty of sales opportunities for non-compliant inverter brands.

What I can tell you is that I am going to diagnose a faulty Fronius IG Plus
right now and customer support is answering the phone reasonably fast and
is offering warranty support after some diagnostics. The brand is not
popular around here, but I'm still seeing them pop up here and there.
