Re: [RE-wrenches] outback GSLC parts

2017-11-09 Thread Lones Tuss
Hello Wrenchers
On the buss bar question.
There is the stripped down version of the GSLC.
Please see page 7 in the manual (Link Below).
http://www.outbackpower.com/downloads/documents/Make_the_Power/radian_gs_load_center/gs_loadcenter_install.pdf

It comes with the pictured items but also included are the positive buss plate
and the 2 positive buss bars for the power modules positive dc connections.
The part number is simply GSLC

Below is a link to the spec sheet.

I hope this helps

HI All,

Does anyone know if its possible to buy the inverter positive DC bus bars
separately?
( its the part that goes from the breakers to the power modules)

And if so where?

My next GSLC I’m looking to use the most striped down version but if I can’t
get the bus bars its hard to mount the main inverter breakers.

thanks
jay

Re: [RE-wrenches] outback GSLC parts

2017-11-08 Thread Dana
CED electrical supply in at least 4 states has gotten for me.
I think the aluminum bar is actually a "ground bar" & typically can be ordered
with a variety of wire spaces. I keep a couple of pairs of Red & Black end
pairs in my onsite trailer & add the appropriate sized grounding screw bar(?)
as needed.
I want to say AEE may have them in their catalogue, but I am not sure on that.

Re: [RE-wrenches] outback GSLC parts

2017-11-08 Thread William Miller
Jay:

Excellent question. This is an issue we have wrestled with on every Radian
job. Here's the situation:

1. The empty GSLC cabinets are supposed to come standard with all the
parts you described.

2. The cabinets are all too often shipped without some of these parts.

3. There should be a total of six bus bar parts and some hardware.

4. There are four parts for the positive circuit and two for the
negative.

5. Three of the positive bus bars are to connect the inverter positives
to the breakers. The other one is a flat plat with six or more holes to
connect the battery side of the breakers together.

6. The two negative bus bars are shipped attached at one end to the
negative shunt and unsupported on the other. The weight of this assembly
is such that if the cabinet is dropped even the slightest in shipping, the
moment arm of the assembly will crack the plastic base of the shunt.
Outback shunts used to have a solid Bakelite base. Now they are hollow
plastic. (Order one or two extra shunts for your FNDC circuits. They do
not come with the FNDC.)

7. You need to verify you received the four bolts to thread into the
inverter DC plus and minus terminals.

8. You need at least one metric nut and lock washer to assemble the
positive bus bars.

9.When you receive your GSLC cabinets, you should open them up and
verify you have all the parts. I recommend you pull the shunt and inspect
the back of it for cracks.

10. Install the upper positive bus bars while the shunt and
negative bus bars are out of the cabinet. This will allow more room for
fingers and wrenches.

11. I have attached a photograph of the parts you should find
with each GSLC.

12. The stainless covers are often covered in greasy
fingerprints that are hard to clean. You may want to bring stainless
cleaner.

I have complained about these problems to Outback many times. I have not
ordered a GSLC for about 6 months, so I don’t know the current likelihood
for problems. I’d be curious about your experience. I cultivated some
contacts at the factory so I have someone to call to get missing parts sent.

By the way, my supplier has been promised lead times of 1-2 weeks for
orders. Actual times are double. Plan accordingly.

I applaud the decision to avoid pre-wired GSLC cabinets. The prewired
cabinets are a total mess. I cannot recommend installing any breakers in
the removable dead-front. We have relocated all of these breakers to PV
recombiners and AC load centers. We fabricate our own interlocks. Contact
me off-list if you have more questions.

I hope the above level of detail helps. I’ve been in the field with no
cell coverage, a deadline, tight budget and then opened the boxes to find
parts missing. I wish to help my colleagues avoid that headache. Good
luck.
