Anyone have any grounding kits available for use on the Andrews 7/8"
hardline? Need about 8 of them. Let me know what you have and price
shipped to Indiana. Thanks.

[Repeater-Builder] RE: Ralph Hogan's website...

2005-04-20 Thread William E. Janes

Ihave gone to the website. I was able to access the
initial Micor Page, however the link labeled:  " Ordering a UHF
Micor Crystal for repeater service"  goes nowhere.

The Properties for the link goes to:
file:///E:/webpages/w4xe/rpt/tech/uhfxtal.htm.

Clicking on the link does nothing.

I like EMR stuff, but it is a tad expensive. You may be able to find
used stuff made by Microwave Associates that should work ok.

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Ralph Hogan's website...

2005-04-20 Thread Ken Arck

Ok...

Kevin posted a link:

and he said "While links in your Mastr Pro pages work, your Micor and Mastr
II pages do not."

I took that to mean that the links from the above url TO the Micor and
Mastr II pages don't work (and in fact, they do).

Once you get to those pages however, the links on THOSE pages don't work
(yes, they do point to a local file).

Sorry for the confusion.

[Repeater-Builder] Re: GE Mastr PRO deskmate power supply question.

2005-04-20 Thread skipp025

The forward bias mic diode switch was not well covered
in the manual (how to deal with it). I found it after
scratching my head over the distored repeater audio
through the tx-af external input. The resistor was
just a logical choice to forward bias the diode with
enough current.

The reason for the switch (if I can remember) is to
keep the mic from going live during an external line
input ptt... or the converse.

chow for now...

Thanks for the fast replies!

I will have to see what I can find on that resistor for the mic hi
connection.

[Repeater-Builder] Re: GE Mastr PRO deskmate power supply question.

2005-04-20 Thread skipp025

Hi Dennis,

Everything you need is right on the top row of screw
connections (plus a number of things you don't need).

I labeled all the connections on the top with a fine
point sharpie marker.

There is a small 600 ohm (telephone) line driver board
option, which most often lives on the chassis where
supplied... many people use it for the controller
receive audio source [it can supply sub tone filtered
(PL, CG or CTCSS) de-emph and gated receiver audio
to the external controller] when properly terminated
to a resistor.

If you don't have the line driver board, you end up
using the (terminated) speaker audio or ungated -
unfiltered discriminator audio.

COS is available on the screw terminals... be carefull
as the AC Mains screws are nearby. You should add some
type of safe shield or cover over the AC Mains ("mains"
makes you think I'm from England/Europe... eh?) unless
you're really carefull and trust yourself near exposed
ac contacts.

TX Audio is a bit tricky, there is a diode switch in
the tx audio path that needs a resistor to + positive
voltage to turn it on (bias). The answer is just a
resistor from the 10 or 12 volt supply to the proper
mic-hi terminal connection... it's been more than 5 min
so I'd have to go find a Master Pro in the way back...
to tell you the exact resistor value & connection I used.

If you don't make the mentioned resistor/bias connection,
the tx line in audio will sound distorted.

A small fan moving light air over the power supply
back side will make the filter capacitors much
happier as they live near some very hot bleeder
resistors.

Good luck, enjoy the Master Pro and pray you're not
paying the electric bill.

cheers,

[Repeater-Builder] Re: GE Mastr PRO deskmate power supply question.

2005-04-20 Thread John Burch

Dennis - to the best of my knowledge (and faulty memory!),
the three supplies (4EP38A10, A11, and A12) all have the
same connections on the top barrier strips. The differences
between the supplies are circuitry upgrades and the inclusion
of stuff like line amps and the like in the later versions.

Holler if I can be of further assistance.

[Repeater-Builder] GE Mastr PRO deskmate power supply question.

2005-04-20 Thread Dennis Adams

Greetings,

I have a GE Mastr Pro Deskmate with the 4EP38A10 Power Supply. The
question I have... are the barrier strips at the top the same pinouts
for the TX/RX strips as the 4EP38A12 power supply? I have the 4EP38A12
Schematic.

I am wanting to hookup a controller and wanted to make sure I have the
COS, audio, PTT, etc correct for wiring.

Better yet if someone has a schematic for this unit that would also
detail the barrier strip designations, please contatct me. I will pay
for a schematic of this power supply.

Thanks,
Dennis / KB8YGC

[Repeater-Builder] Kenwood TKR 850

2005-04-20 Thread wa9ba

>>
One final question...I didn't think to ask the tech...will my
current software work with the upgrade or will I need to upgrade it
as well?

Kenwood hasn't changed the software as far as I know since it was
written, it will work fine.

We Bought a TKR 750, we had it for 5 or 6 years and it worked
flawlessly so when it came time for a UHF repeater, it was a no
brainer on what to buy. We bought both of them from member of this
list server. About a year ago, the 850 didn't seem to be working
right so a couple of us went to the repeater site. When I checked
the power out from the TX to a dummy load, we had only 7 watts out,
I thought something was wrong with my Bird so I checked with another
watt meter, it was about the same. We contaced our local Kenwood
dealer and they replaced the PA with the update, no charge, It now
runs 25 watts out, they said we could run it a little higher, maybe
30 watts but we chose to keep it at 25.
If I remember correctly, when you program it for a repeater with the
software, it automaticly sets the power at 25 watts, if you set it
up as a base radio, 40 watts, but this is just from memory.
I have the service bullitens on the PA update, if anyone wants it, I
can email it to them, it is 4 pages.
