Re: [Repeater-Builder] Radio Tone Control
Dear Gareth, We are using VX-4200 series and ICOM IC-F521 or F621 radio. Would like to know more how you do it. We know the VX-4200 has a DB15. How do we control the radio via the audio line? We utilise a UHF link radio (VX-2200 or 4200) to send 5 Tone commands that can be addressed via a configurable BCD output that can change the frequency and of course pass through the appropriate audio. Let me know if this is the down the track that you are interested in, and I can supply you more info. _ _ _ _ _ Gareth Bennett This e-mail is confidential, if you received this message in error, or you are not the intended recipient, please return it to the sender and destroy any copies. [Repeater-Builder] Re: Battery backup
The best arrangement I have seen so far is the Powergate PW40S which has the built-in 3 stage charger. I have used them and they are really good with a zero time switchover so none of the little electrons in the controller get confused and reset or worse, lockup the controller. It also charges the battery the RIGHT way, with a 3 stage charger. It can be duplicated I am sure, but at the price, I just would buy it and spend the time tinkering with the RF for a good repeater. So this is the reason I want to try a 66 split and see if it will do any better. Mathew How about taking the L.O./multiplier board(s) out of a 66 and swap 'em into the 56? -- Jim Barbour WD8CHL You'd also have to swap the helical assemblies, as the LO coils are different. Bob NO6B Yup-that's right, I forgot about that. The whole reason I mentioned that was to have the low split front end with the LO that works well for high side injection... :c/ -- Jim Barbour WD8CHL

The two meter band is FULL in most areas - locally the waiting list here is measured in decades. Right now in SoCal the waiting list for 2 meter coordinations has only 1 system on it, it's been on the list for less than a year. Perhaps the other bands are more impacted, or the coordinators for those bands are less efficient - I don't know. At any rate, if you only need a low or mid-level site coordinated that's not too close to the ocean, we can probably find you something in short order. Bob NO6B

This will prevent the power supply from placing a dead short on the battery when a power line spike causes the crowbar to fire. Most Astron linear power supplies have such a circuit. It's also a good idea to have fuses in each power lead and in each jumper between batteries. Better yet, just put a fuse right at the battery. If the crowbar fires, the fuse blows. [Repeater-Builder] Re: Doug Hall Voter
Re: [Repeater-Builder] Re: Doug Hall Voter It may not be real obvious, but the valley follower, after the log amplifier, follows the noise floor, not the channel rectifier as you call it. I put a plain-jane label on the precision (and/or possible high speed) rectifier circuit after the log amp. Call it what ever you like... Yes, there is some very intentional audio spectral focus to avoid being sensitive to CTCSS and DCS components, and to emphasize where the noise spectrum is best for voting, but it is not relying on the high frequency component alone. My use of the high frequency label is/was meant to be generic. The larger picture is where the audio spectral focus is intended to be placed and what other components to some major or less degree effect the operational performance. skipp

Hi Don, I can also do the work for you. I am also looking for an eprom for mine. I could program you a new one and that would also help me out. I'd send it back and would not cost you anything but shipping it to me. 73 Martin, KD4HLV w5dk_don w5dk@ wrote: This brings up a need I have also. [Repeater-Builder] UPDATE FOR A 70-1000 MIDLAND PROGRAMER
Hello everybody: I have an 70-1000 programer , it has the H1 system in it and I would like to update it with the L3 system. To the best of my knowledge it is a 28 legger IC and the number on that is IC 4. I am also looking for 70-1071,70-1072 eprom adapters ( for the z-383, z-350 proms) I am also keeping a watch on e-bay for the adapters. If anyone might know where I can pick up the IC 4 L3 28 legger please let me know. Thank you Mark F. Cosgrove (N8TSK) [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Want to start your own business? Learn how on Yahoo! [Repeater-Builder] Re: UPDATE FOR A 70-1000 MIDLAND PROGRAMER
Hi Mark, There is a yahoo group for midland radio people: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MidlandLMR/ I'm not sure what you mean by the H1 and H3 system but I and many of the group members have the various Midland programmers. Possibly you mean the firmware inside the programmer? Finding the 70-1000 program adapters is going to be a lot of work. They do not pop up on the web/ebay as single units that often. One good bit of news... it is quite possible to make some of the adapters. One of the adapters you seek has been reverse engineered and the circuit diagram for it is available in the yahoo group files section. Otherwise I can program midland radio stuff for ham use at no cost, just pay return postage. cheers, skipp Mark Cindy Cosgrove [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello everybody: I have an 70-1000 programer , it has the H1 system in it and I would like to update it with the L3 system. RE: [Repeater-Builder] Re: Eprom Programmer Wanted (please)
Thanks Marty, I have a local friend that can do it, we plan to read and save the original file then edit and burn my new parameters. I will send you a copy of my file when I am done. Pester me for it if I don't send it to you first. I didn't realize it but that controller does not deal with voice audio, it will ID for you and handle a link but no audio unless I'm clueless. 73 Don W5DK _ From: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Marty Sent: Wednesday, January 10, 2007 3:07 PM To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Repeater-Builder] Re: Eprom Programmer Wanted (please) Hi Don, I can also do the work for you. Hi Doug, I found what I believe to be the Powergate web site at http://www.powergatellc.com/ but could not find the PW40S under any of the categories listed nor through product no. search. Am I at the right web site? Any hints on finding this model?
