Re: [Repeater-Builder] hand held 800mhz...which one
You are correct Mike, However the MTS2000 can be easier to program being able to enter direct frequency entry in the programming screens and can be setup to be menu driven (scan, scan list programming, power level, simplex operation) and so on. The 480 uses a channel list so a lookup/channel conversion chart is needed when programming. Both radios weigh about the same and perform similiar. Re: [Repeater-Builder] Unidentified EF Johnson Repeater
Check the back of each chassis, receiver and transmitter for the applicable model numbers, the radio you have is probably a CR1000, CR1010, or CR1100 made up of basically 2 mobile radios hung on pull out rails. The later ones have the chassis in pull out boxes, sort of like small rack units. I may have what you need if you can give me more info, or a photo of the insides... Lance, There iis only one unit in the cabinet, It does have the pullout shelf similar to the GE Mastr II. This rig has two channel capability, (only one is used) w/ *common xtals*, no modules or icoms as some like to call them. With a manual, new xtals, and a tx rx retune, it should be a piece of cake. Re: [Repeater-Builder] Unidentified EF Johnson Repeater
Sound like maybe a base station that has been converted. If it has volume and Squelch controls on the radio, it is probably a Fleetcom 2. If it doesn't, its a Transcom 2. Same cystals as the PPL series. Lift the top cover, receiver and transmitter should be separate. [Repeater-Builder] MICOR 800 MHz station VHF Hi mobile questions
I have never messed with a Micor, but I do have a lot of these radios (at least 10, all bands) and lots of Micor parts and plan to make a ham repeater or two (or three) with, if what I have test good. I have some VHF 110W mobiles, and I have a couple of 800 MHz station/repeaters. I have no use for the 800s. I want to strip out the 800s, so I can strip the mobiles and have a VHF station. I want to strip out the 800 PA (continuous duty), and replace it with the VHF PA (so that it is now continuous duty). Has anyone ever done this before? Will I be better off leaving the VHF mobile as a mobile and just convert it to repeater? Can a 800 be converted to 900 amateur? Thanks Terry KM5UQ

If so, I need a favor. The first implementation of PL used about 20 tones. The 32-tone standard list didn't come until later. Does anybody have a copy of that early tone list? It would have been somewhere in the 1950-1955 time frame. Thanks in advance. Mike WA6ILQ No virus found in this incoming message.
