Have a look at http://www.ik-telecom.com/catalog/ They have their own 'Ham Radio' section where they apparently have 6m duplexers. Hi Chuck, I did make some enquiries about the price of the ali tubing but gave up when 4 lenghs of 8 diameter tubing alone was £750 (about $1500) Then there is all the insides and engineering costs! I'm prepared to pay $1000 for a good set of cans. Those High $ Wacom duplexers were made from aluminum irrigation pipe that was cadmium and silver plated. The tuning rods were invar. One of the most difficult items was mechanical stability of the crown at the top of the cavity. Wonder if there is some plumbing supplies that may be used to fabricate cavities? As far as expense - there seem to be some give and take - Our healthcare costs here in the states are pretty scarry. I understand as I have worked in the old kingdom ( been in Australia 30 years) but I wonder at the cost of used copper down pipe or similar , someone in the club will have access to a simple lathe and an hours work evenif you pay will see the machining done , the problems are solvable as it appears to me you have little choice . If I could get hold of around 30 feet of LDF 750 I would make am heliax one but even getting it second hand is proving very difficult. I have attempted making a cable one using small dia cable no use best I get is around 6dB per leg, so still big rx desense. Can you get aluminum sheet stock? Take it to a shop, roll it and weld. Or you can use square stock bent, but that's an additional weld per can. Or use large sheet stock and groove it for dividers that you place between sections. Looks like you're going to need to get creative. Thanks for the suggestion Erik but 2 site working isn't really an option as there is only one tower in the area that I have access to. Come to think of it I don't think there's even a tall building nearby. I would like to try and use single aerial working so there is a good balance between tx and rx paths. TX on separate location from the RX and a wireline/microwave/ham band RF -link between them. We run our 6m repeater with split site and it truly saves nerves as there is not much filtering to be bothered about. I've tested the licence-free 2.4GHz video transmitter sets to transit two-channel audio from the RX location to TX location and it works ok too. TX information is added as CTCSS tone to the transmission. These low-power transmitters are located in a weatherproof box in the tower, and feeded by +12V, audio and control signals. So put the receiver up on the tower located antenna. Place the transmitter at your ground level house antenna and use linking or slave the 6 meter side to another band repeater. The nice part about 6 and 10 meters is the distance between tx rx doesn't seem to be the critical animal.
