[Repeater-Builder] Re: Anyone using the RS 12-249 WX Radio ?
Yep I did for about 6 months to, about 37 years ago. I'm not bashing anyone Mathew. Too bad about not carring any parts. That's the only reason that I go. I dont know about now but parts once was the one product with the highest mark up of anything else in the store about two to five times as high. I know this to be a fact. Where else will a lot of hams or kids learning electronics get their parts. Again TOO bad for us and for them. IT WILL BE THE LAST TIME I GO THERE. Unfortunately, most of us know too much about the inner workings of companies like RS. IF it is not burning the shelves up from sales, it has to go. the bean counters and MBAs are screwing up the world.and all for the bottom line...I know, they have screwed up the MAGIC at the most fun place in the world. --- In Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com, Mathew Quaife <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Bashing Radioshack won't help, I've been a manager of one for over 6 years. RE: [Repeater-Builder] Re: Anyone using the RS 12-249 WX Radio ?
Yes, I've noticed the trend for several years; it looks like they are going to be carrying mainly home entertainment and cell phones. It's a shame, really, but they have to go where the market is, and people just don't repair or build things anymore. One point I agree with is that the store personnel have little knowledge of the merchandise they sell, except maybe for cell phones and batteries. This has been the case for many years. When I go to Radio Shack to buy a part, sometimes, when they ask, I'll tell them what I need it for (a repeater, two-way radio, etc), just for the satisfaction of seeing the confused looks or to impress them. When Radio Shack stops selling parts, I'll have to mail order everything.
