I AM BACK AGAIN, WITH THE SQUEALING REAPEATER PROBLEM.JUST BY CHANCE
, I HAPPEN TO NOTICE THE AMP METER ON THE POWER SUPPLY WAS DECREASING
IN AMPS FROM WHAT IT WAS PULLING, IT WAS DROPPING BACK TO 5--AMPS OR
LESS, AND WHAT IS HAPPENING IT IS DROPPING BACK IN OUTPUT POWER WHEN
IT IS SQUEALING,WE HAVE IT SET FOR 50--WATTS, AND NOW IT HAD DROPPED
BACK TO 40-WATTS, BUT NO SWR ON THE ANTENNA.AND PUT A DUMMY LOAD ON
THE TRANSMIT SIDE OF MICOR, AND IT IS STILL DOING IT.ANY IDEAS ON
THIS PROBLEM AND HOW TO SOLVE IT?

Have you tried a large capacitor, on the DC input?
Maybe 10,000uF or better, low impedance type. (low esr)

If I was there, I'd hang a scope on your DC supply line, but I can't do that
remotely :)

Hi

have you measured the DC volts on load. It maybe the regulator in the psu
has gone. As our friend says look at
the DC output with a scope and see if it is clean and not
have loads of AC .

we have a backup REAPEATER spectrum and it is put out 75 W VHF no
problems same power supply? and no SQUEALING REAPEATER anymore ID,s
thanks for previous replies ANTHONY W4NCR

I'd still check the supply. One bunch of hardware may be more tolerant of
that type of problem than another..

Yet never keys up on it owen ?

---Yep, sounds exactly like a mix that involves your own repeater's
transmitter. Obviously, there's something else out there that, on an
occasional basis, that is figuring into the equation.

Now the hard part

You need to do the math, based on your xmt and rcv freqs and a 3rd (or
maybe even 4th and 5th) source of mixing freqs, that result in products on
your receive frequency.

2005-07-21 Thread Ron Wright
Anthony,

Does sound like intermod. Micor has tight front end, but if problem is
with intermod the undesired signal could end up near or on your freq.
Would be nice to be able to disconnect antenna when the problem occurs to
see if from external or internal to Micor.

Wonder if you are using preamp before the Micor???

they're GOOD conditions repeater RF feedback gets in The receiver the
antenna is 175 feet on tower SWR is 1.2 I was thinking taken the
receiver out put in another RF shielded box with use Feed Thru
Through Capacitors to choke the RF feedback from getting in?? ANTHONY
PURSLEY W4NCR anybody tried this before??

Conditions would have nothing to do with it, at least with
something internal to the radio. Since it doesn't happen all the time, I
believe you're wasting your time with this line of fixing the problem.

I'd look more for mixes from other sources before you start blaming the
problem on RF feedback.

Exactly WHAT type of RF feedback are you experiencing in the first place
and why do you believe moving the receiver to another enclosure would solve
it?

Hmmm, sounds like a band opening to a reverse split repeater. Could be
conditions! Happened to me before...search the repeater directory!

If you haven't changed anything since it worked right---tighten all co-ax
connectors before you do anything else---a loose connector in either the
transmitter or receiver lines to the duplexer can be the cause of problems
just as you describe. Good luck.

Get a receiver and go off of your input channel either up or down by
10.7, 10.8 or 11.7MHz and tell me what you hear.
