Re: [Repeater-Builder] Identify this antenna manufacturer
Upon further examination of Derek's picture, I have noticed some differences. Though these are very similar, his picture is not identical to the Hy-Gain j-pole I have here. What I have is in fact a Hy-Gain j-pole. That's what they called them; j-poles. See the picture at http://www.qsl.net/aa5sg/hy-gain.jpg. 73, Steve, AA5SG - Original Message - From: Steve Grantham [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, January 09, 2004 11:06 AM Subject: Re: [Repeater-Builder] Identify this antenna manufacturer This antenna was manufactured by Hy-Gain. It was sold as a four-pole antenna with harness, but without the mast. Good performer! I believe they stopped making these a decade or so ago. I will look and see if I can find the instruction sheet. 73, Steve, AA5SG - Original Message - From: JJ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2004 10:36 PM Subject: Re: [Repeater-Builder] Identify this antenna manufacturer Intriguingmakes me think of a jpole but the dimensions are not right. Both Butternut and Hy-Gain made j-pole arrays for VHF and UHF. It's hard to tell from the picture - does it appear to be ham-grade construction or something more significant? -Original Message- From: Mike Perryman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, January 08, 2004 12:44 PM To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Repeater-Builder] Identify this antenna manufacturer Looks like a DB-201 that is missing the radial kit... see attached PDF and tell me if you agree.. mike At 04:07 AM 01/08/2004 +, you wrote: Replaced a commercial antenna with electrical characteristics of a Decibel DB-224 or Celwave PD-340, four dipole array. If you are looking for a name it was folded monopole 20 some years ago, no gain but wide banded and durable in high winds - most coast guard stations use these. Looks like a communications products or Hy-Gain. The Hy-Gain versions from the late 60's and70's had a blue colored insulator. Saw a Hy-Gain version this summer still in the air and had good swr. Was installed in 1968.It was located in East Texas. My 2c Yahoo! I was going to say Hy-Gain also.
