Re: [Ring] gnome-ring -> ring-gnome binary rename

2016-06-08 Thread Stepan Salenikovich
So, after some more discussion, we're reverting this change for now (read:
until someone has a better argument for renaming).

I apologize for any inconvenience for anyone building from source or any
package maintainers who may have already begun adapting to the change.

[Ring] gnome-ring -> ring-gnome binary rename

2016-06-08 Thread Stepan Salenikovich
Hi,
To better match the package name and because it just seems to make sense, we
have re-named the 'gnome-ring' binary to 'ring-gnome'.

In addition to this, the local user files will now be expected by ring-gnome in
'~/.local/share/ring' rather than '~/.local/share/gnome-ring'. This is the
location where the call history, text messages, and profiles are stored. In
order to facilitate the transition (especially for current users who may bot be
on the mailing list) we will be patching ring-gnome to automatically move the
files from ~/.local/share/gnome-ring to ~/.local/share/ring if they are not
already detected in in the new location on startup.

I assume package maintainers may have some patching to do as a result as well.

Thanks,
