Re: [rt-users] RT on Ubuntu 12
Sounds like you didnt finish the 'make fixdeps' part of the setup. Some items (the last time I installed from the tarball) will not / can not be installed that way. In which case it'll say in the last few lines about how it could not install 'Thing::subthing' then just head on over to cpan and install it manually. It looks like your running this as a dedicated server (or a virtual host [ie rt.place.tld]). I run it as a page. Its on the same server as my nagios install. here is my rt section. There are a number of differences, but its someplace to start trying. I also had to add LoadModule perl_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_perl.so to my apache2.conf. Re: [rt-users] Apache2.2 won't start at boot. RT4.0.4 on debian 6
What does your default site conf look like? Are there server specific settings there that might be causing the trip up? Have you tried enabling both? Have you tried changing the boot order(?)? Try setting the LogLevel to debug (apache2.conf/httpd.conf), then restarting your server and see if something appears in the logs about it. I'm not familiar with a2ensite/a2dissite so that may be the issue. If it assumes that once you disable the default site that you wont be using apache, it may be removing the appropriate link in your rc3.d / rc5.d directory. After you enable the rt site, and disable the default, do you have any links in those directories? I'm not on a debian machine, so I'm not horribly familiar with the specific distro layout. -Matt On 01/12/2012 9:45 AM, Glenn McNeill wrote: Hi, I'm having a major headache trying to get apache2 (for a clean install of RT4.0.4, on a clean install of Debian 6.0.3) to start at boot. If I enable the RT site and disable the default one then apache will not start at boot. Re: [rt-users] Question on apache config
I managed to get this to work without a separate virtual host for each. We have nagios, rt, the nagios rt interface for when something irksome comes up when the office is closed, and an intra-office website. Works really well, tho we have a smaller setup. This way its just domain/ for the web doman/rt and domain/nagios. Hope this helps. Re: [rt-users] Best Practice RE Mail Server
I ended up sticking with our tickets going to our main mail server, and having fetchmail grab them, deliver them to the local machine, and then setup sendmail to masquerade the outgoing. The Apache error log may have more information. testrt:/opt/rt4/etc# /etc/init.d/apache2 reload Syntax OK /usr/sbin/apache2ctl: line 107: 11729 Segmentation fault $HTTPD ${APACHE_ARGUMENTS} -t Action 'configtest' failed. The Apache error log may have more information. failed! The way of restarting apache which doesn't cause error to be thrown is just: /etc/init.d/apache2 stop; /etc/init.d/apache2 start but it's, well, inelegant. The issue is probably related to Plack. Any suggestions? Regards, Looks like its cause you have your $APACHE_ARGUMENTS set with a -t by default. On my system, apache2ctl wont restart my server with a -t argument. It does, however, restart it perfectly fine without the -t argument. Looking into the /usr/sbin/apache2ctl file, line 107 is where it takes in the command line arguments. Try clearing the $APACHE_ARGUMENTS variable and try again. And Kevin makes a valid point. Version and distro information would be very helpful. Good luck, Matt

In any case, I dare you to go here: http://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.perl5.porters/2011/05/msg172431.html and play around with `Thread Previous' and `Thread Next', and then provide an explanation for WTF is going on (note dates too). Now, admittedly, this isn't necessarily a problem with perlbug or rt.perl.org's software, but I would add that the request tracker exacerbates this situation by flinging copies of emails all over the place with various Message-Ids and semi-spoofed `From' headers. Surely something can be done to make working via email more seamless; the request tracker should just be a third-party recording the discussion (and only spoofing messages sent explicitly via its interface). Sincerely, Michael Witten Looks like whatever software is threading the messages is not compensating for time zones and/or is running on utc. If you wanted a guess.
