[rt-users] ActiveStatus configuration has been replaced by the new Lifecycles

2012-07-03 Thread Borngunners
What does this warning mean and how do I correct it?

[Sun Jun 24 10:38:22 2012] [warning]: The ActiveStatus configuration has been
replaced by the new Lifecycles
functionality. You should set the 'active' property of the 'default'
lifecycle and add transition rules; see RT_Config.pm for documentation.
(/opt/rt4/sbin/../lib/RT/Config.pm:766)

Ok, your username is fixed and your authenticating correctly. However,
its /opt/rt4/bin/rt-mailgate, not /opt/rt4/bin/mailgate. Just change that

Have you tried your full email address as your user name?
helpd...@ticket.co.it instead of just helpdesk most servers wont auth

Those log lines are truncated and out of order, so it is hard to trust
that they are accurate and meaningful or to discern much meaning from
them.

However, the most likely cause of a problem like this is database
misconfiguration. Are you sure that your $DatabaseUser and
$DatabasePassword settings are correct? Can you access the database
using the mysql command-line client?

Sounds like you didnt finish the 'make fixdeps' part of the setup. Some
items (the last time I installed from the tarball) will not / can not be
installed that way. In which case it'll say in the last few lines about
how it could not install 'Thing::subthing' then just head on over to cpan
and install it manually. Looking at my server, it looks like
DateTime, GD, prefork, and XML-RSS are the packages I had to manually
install. Tho I'm not positive.

Hi,

As mentioned, after the installation you have to manually add the RT config to
apache.

The installation won't configure apache automatically for you, you can probably
use the include line Diaulas mentioned.

Other then that, it looks like you've done the installation the Ubuntu way
(which is ok), all you need to do now is configure Apache.

Let us know if it worked.

At least, it looks that way. If the above is what you've done then I really
don't understand the external auth errors your getting, a clean installation

My advise would be to make sure you have a clean installation up and running

Also, if you have the latest Ubuntu server then you can also install RT using

I assume you've documented all your steps up to this point, could you show us

2012-02-02 Thread Borngunners
Now RT is coming up, but I noticed couple of things:
1. It seems like RT is using sqlite database instead of mysql. (How do you make
RT to use mysql? If I make the changes in RT_SiteConfig.pm to use mysql, will
it work?)
2. How do I make RT to work without the /rt path in the RT_SiteConfig.pm?

Also, If I want to configure LDAP authentication, how do I go about
accomplishing that since the installation was done via aptitude?
Last but not least I have a backup database from another RT server version 3.8,
which was mysql database, how do I go about restoring the database from the
fron-end, if possible?

Thanks,

What did you do to install RT? It'd be great if you looked through

Same as with Debian, you need to manually add the RT apache configuration to
apache. If Ubuntu does the same as Debian then you can find an example under
/etc/request-tracker4.

I suspect that you don't have a config under /etc/apache2/sites-available for
RT, and/or not a link to the RT apache config under /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/

Make sure you have the RT config in there and a link under sites-enabled, after
that restart apache2 and it should work (if the config is correct).

For example configs you can check the wiki or these lists.

You're going to need to share your apache config for anyone to be able
to offer advice.

Enter the password of the root password to each and every user that you create.
That should be the initial password, then enter the current password and
confirm it. That should resolve your problem

2010/6/10 Guy Baxter gbax...@blackpoolsixth.ac.uk

Hi,

I have installed RT 3.8.8 on fedora 12.

I'm at the stage of adding users, i log in as root, go to users, create,
create a user with username of test, set new password to test, and also
verify it. When saving changes I get the following error:

User created
Please enter your current password. Password has not been set.
A password was not set, so user won't be able to login.

So then I enter test in current password box and save changes, but I am
unable to log in.

Log back in as root, fill in test user's current password as test, save
changes, still cannot log in.

Log back in as root, set new and verify password to test, save changes,
but get the following error:

Please enter your current password correctly. Password has not been set.

What is going on? Is this a bug?

Any help appreciated

Thanks.

Sounds like the RT path is not right. Was it working before? Did you
install the ubuntu RT package or got it from bestpractical?

Everything was working right until I decide to configure the LDAP
authentication... I followed the instructions from best practical and then
install the CPAN moduleI am not sure if I installed in the wrong path.
What can I do to reverse the installation or better still repair the issue?

[rt-users] Anonymos login without password

2010-05-21 Thread borngunners

Since I am using RT for just internal and I have lazy staff who thinks using
password for everything is not a good idea, how do I set RT so there is no
login for general staff to create tickets and search tickets for solutions to
repeated issue? I also want a special login for just Admin so they can keep
track of the tickets coming in? An example will be the normal url taking the
staff directly to ticket creation and normal url slash admin takes RT admin to
a login page to manage tickets.

You need to add the www user and the www group on the system.

(I'm assuming useradd lives in the same place on RHEL as it does CentOS)

e.g.
/usr/sbin/groupadd www
/usr/sbin/useradd -g www www

Did you read the URL I previously directed you to? It's apparent that

Can you upload a copy of your Apache configuration file (such as at

to quickly answer, you untar RT in another directory than your

ame as for installation, but:
- you read UPGRADING file
you run make upgrade instead of make install
but once again, read carefully README file, everything you need is
