[rt-users] Possible to run Scrip every 30 minutes

2013-03-04 Thread Ryan Hardester
Is it possible to run a scrip every 30 minutes against a queue?

I would like to have tickets that come in to the general queue sit in an
unowned state, allowing for technicians to be able to take tickets, but
if they sit for a while (or just the arbitrary number of minutes pass,
not necessarily the tickets age) the round robin assign script I have
installed kicks in on those tickets.

The idea I am going for is that if after a given period of time
*someone* should be responsible for a ticket, while allowing some time
for someone to grab a ticket they know is for them. As opposed to a pure
round robin assignment as it is now.

Would seem to be a better solution to incorporate something like iWebkit (
http://iwebkit.net/ ) into an install of RT and just use a web interface
like everything else.

Then it is mostly device agnostic.

Hi Matt,

No problems - sorry for the delay getting back to you. I've CC'd the
list as well in case anyone else is curious.

We currently run something like this, once per day:

## Search for tickets that have had no requestor correspondance for more
than 6 days, ## open them and comment (this will notify ticket owner)
/var/www/rt.domain.com/rt/bin/rt-crontool \
 --search RT::Search::FromSQL \
--search-arg Queue = 'Foo' AND Status = 'stalled' AND Told
'6 days ago' AND DependsOn IS NULL \
 --action RT::Action::OpenTicketAndComment --action-arg Auto-
opened due to being stalled for 6 days.

You'll also notice the RT::Action::OpenTicketAndComment action which is
just a slightly modified RT::Action::AutoOpen so that we can also place
a comment in the ticket to show why it was re-opened. I've attached our
local/lib/RT/Action/OpenTicketAndComment.pm module if you're interested.

Caution: we added the 'DependsOn IS NULL' clause because this was re-
opening tickets that were stalled because they depended on another
ticket. However, through TicketSQL we are unable to query the status of
these depended-on tickets, so currently this won't re-open stalled
tickets even if a depended-on ticket is resolved. I consider this a bug
with our process and plan to fix it by using a custom RT::Search module
to do a more fine-grained query, but haven't had time.

Tom

2008-07-18 Thread Ryan Hardester
That did it .. in a roundabout way. On the DB server it was installed,
but the latest CPAN offered would fail testing. I moved back to RT's
machine (newer version of the system) and was able to install the latest
version of DBD::mysql and edited the script to point to our DB server
instead of localhost.

That was the recipe for success!

 Let's make it clear:
 * you still must upgrade DB using files in etc/upgrade/x.x.x/
 * however in 3.8.0 you can do it using one command:

 rt-setup-database --dba root --prompt-for-dba-password --action
 upgrade

it will ask for the old version (for example you can enter 3.6.7) and
will apply all steps up to the installed version (in this case it's
 3.8.0)

 * then you do mysql schema changes using the script
 * these schema changes are required for all mysql versions greater
 than mysql 4.1.0

 * people installing for the first time will get new DB schema as there
are two different schema files for mysql in etc/, so they don't need
 to do all these steps
 * people upgrading mysql server from 4.0 to 4.1 and newer should use
 the script two

 * I tested this script several times, but only on my dev PC, so it's
VERY recommended to backup and make tests

 Clear?

Still waiting to hear from Ruslan to confirm 100% that you don't need
 to
run all these commands and you need only run the
 schema.mysql-4.0-4.1.pl
 script.

Additionally, not entirely sure, but it sounds like he acknowledges
 there
is a problem with the script.

 In 3.8.0 it's one step :)

  /opt/rt3/sbin/rt-setup-database --action acl \

 Hi there
I am having schema.mysql-4.0-4.1.pl problems upgrading to version
 3.8.0 from 3.6.6.
 make upgrade worked well.

As in point 4) of UPGRADING.mysql

 [EMAIL PROTECTED] etc/upgrade/schema.mysql-4.0-4.1.pl sql.queries

 but

 usage: etc/upgrade/schema.mysql-4.0-4.1.pl db_name db_user db_password

Ok, then I inserted the info needed

[EMAIL PROTECTED] etc/upgrade/schema.mysql-4.0-4.1.pl DB USER PASS
sql.queries

 but

 DBD::mysql::db column_info failed: column_info doesn't support column

 DBD::mysql::db column_info failed: column_info doesn't support column
 selection at etc/upgrade/schema.mysql-4.0-4.1.pl line 227.

RT 3.6.6 was installed a month ago on MySQL 5.0, maybe I do not need
to run chema.mysql-4.0-4.1.pl, but UPGRADING.mysql (not present in
3.6.6 tarball), it seems to suggest so.

 Can anybody please help?

RE: [rt-users] Re: LDAP Overlay and automated logins

2007-01-31 Thread Ryan Hardester
I have started digging myself into a hole, and my solution is to use RT to fill
the hole :) ..

I redirected our webmaster email address into RT. Problem there is there are 2
issues that are generally sent into this address website issues, and customer
service issues for our finance dept. They already have an e-mail address for
customer service requests. The people who check that mailbox are less than
technologically savvy. I'd like to have the customer service address dump into
RT, and create a local user for them to log in as one user since more than one
person can access/respond to issues. Then when an issue for them comes in to
the Webmaster queue for them we just assign it to them and they can deal with
it within RT. As it is we are having to get the message out of RT into that
mailbox which isn't as easy as just assigning it. Security on this queue isn't
a big deal to us, and I think the tracking of the issues would be a plus to
them.

So what I am looking to happen is have a URL I can make a favorite (and
ultimately drag into their outlook bar so they can launch it within outlook)
that will just open them up into the self service interface for that user
without a password prompt. This user won't be working with LDAP as it will be
local, but I don't know if the ldap overlay changes the potential for making
that happen. We'll still want all the other users to use username/password.

This sounds like a very unusual setup: can you explain why you want to do this?

for larger updates I'm guessing I'd actually make a prod DB then mess
with it and when I am happy with replicating the process i'd do it on
prod, then make dev match prod and tweak there again.

If i start out with both machines equal then make changes to the dev

Basically I'm making sure that what isn't in the DB is contained in
the /path/to/rt3 folder. I'm pretty sure, just wanted to make sure
before i commit to this setup :)

I think you've hit the nail on the head here, most of what makes RT is
within the Database. I've dumped out my DB and moved it from Dev to
Prod when I've done the initial setup. Doing that later once Prod has
been active is a little tricky, I'm sure some smart person has a way to
sync the Templates Scrips, but I usually open 2 windows and cut and
paste once I've got a new setup working well on my Dev RT.

If you're making changes to RT_SiteConfig.pm or adding customization in
/opt/rt3/local/ then rsync could be used. I suspect those changes
wouldn't be that many. Give rsync -n a run and see what the differences
 are.

If any gurus out there want to enlighten me to a solution of moving
custom fields from Dev to Prod without retyping, I'm listening. :-)

[rt-users] Add Phone # to ticket info

2006-09-26 Thread Ryan Hardester
Is it possible to pull the Work # from the users info and put it in
the ticket information? We are populating it from our active directory,
and it would be hand to have easy access to the number to call the
person.

I got it working, since it was going to be on the command line anyway, I
just used the shell to generate today's date.

Subject: [rt-users] Search Custom Field relative to today

I am working on a sort of people tracking queue. Where in the ticket in
that queue CF's say that i will be out 2006-08-19 (CF1) to 2006-08-26
(CF2) they are required to input date formatted values. In the search
builder I have been able to select the specific queue, and then I see
the 2 custom fields in the search options. Is there a variable i can use
that will test to see if CF1 is equal to or before today's date and CF2
is still after today. I'd like to be able to use the crontool to run
this search then send out an e-mail out in the morning that would say
Ryan will be out today for the duration of my leave.

Or am i going about it all wrong. I got my book tonight, and am coming
up with all kinds of ideas. heh

[rt-users] Due in business hours/Odd schedule

2006-09-20 Thread Ryan Hardester
I implemented
http://wiki.bestpractical.com/index.cgi?DueDateinBusinessHours and it
works well. My only issue us that we work 9/80 with every other Friday
being off. Is there an easy way to either compensate for this? Or
possibly just be closed on Fridays and things due Friday get a bonus
day.
