The key to Paul is that he is different from the other knob-polishers on the radio. No, he doesn't know sports. But he knows how to get a story. He's one of the few people around this market that knows how to be a journalist, and has the talent to package it in a form that will appeal to a broad range of people. And y'all know that most of the Vickers / Paul interaction is staged, right? If you'll notice it usually happens when there's a dead news time, or there's an issue out that everyone else has beaten to death? They do it to get callers to call and listeners to listen. A caller asked an interesting question yesterday about whether the show whould be as popular as it is here in Alabama if it were based in other markets.
