Re: [Samba] Samba AutoCAD 2007 high CPU after printing

2006-06-10 Thread Kurt Weiss

THX for your answer.

as pronounced, this is experience. - there was no intention to produce FUD.
sorry, that i've told, that samba is *not* supported by autodesk.
as supporter of small users, i've always got this answer by autodesk
as reply such questions.

also questions to this list were not answered. (exept one usermail)

you've written, that there's technical notes, how to configure ACAD.
is it possible for you, to post this information, because it seems, that
it is not reachable for me.

That's not what this link says. This link says that
Autocad expects Windows network semantics, and if it
doesn't work then it's a server problem. I agree :-).
That's why we provide Windows network semantics.

Far from saying they don't support Samba, they actually
have a tech note explaining how to configure part of
Samba to enable things for them !

Please don't spread FUD on the Samba lists - google will
index your reply and hostile forces :-) will use it to
claim Samba isn't supported and doesn't work. No one
will ever read this rebuttal (of course :-).

[Samba] issues with cifs mount

2006-06-10 Thread Thierry Lacoste
I have a samba 3.0.14a PDC on FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE.
With pam_mount on Ubuntu 5.10 users have their home
mounted with mount.cifs.

I have 2 issues with this setting.
First with the evolution email client, when I pop my mails
I have the following error:

I checked the permissions on .evolution/mail/local/ which appear to be OK.
I have no problem with evolution if my home is on the local filesystem.

The second issue is about KDE applications.
For instance when running kmail from a terminal I have an endless series of

I have exactly the same issues with samba 3.0.21b on FreeBSD 6.1.
Any help would be appreciated.

[Samba] Stopping Samba

2006-06-10 Thread M K
Hi,

I have installed Samba on AIX 5.3 as per the document on
http://us3.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/AIX/README.

Everthing worked well and I was able to connect to the shared directory
  from an Windows 2003 machine.
I now want to stop the smdb, nmbd processes from the command line.
Although, I can start the processes from the command line (basically a
script),
but I do not know how to stop the processes ( apart from kill -HUP smdb etc.)
as there is no file in /etc/inet directory that can be used for this purpose
as I have installed
binaries for AIX which have installed only in /opt.
Unfortunately commands such as pkill, killproc are not working on my system.

Basically I want a auto start/stop mechanism for Samba 3.0.21c on AIX 5.3.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Thanks,
  rte

You have a [profiles$] shares, not the needed, [profiles].

Change that and it's going to work.

[Samba] mod_ntlm_winbind

2006-06-10 Thread Ciro Iriarte
Anybody using mod_ntlm_winbind?. I'm running SLES9 SP3 and i'mt having
problems using it, I did the following:

Compilation:
-
autoconf-- works
./configure --with-apxs=$(which
apxs2) --with-apache=$(/usr/share/apache2/find_mpm 2/dev/null)-- works
make-- dies (there goes the rpm for my repo) with:

---error---

mod_ntlm_winbind.c: In function `winbind_authenticate_plaintext':

So i went the apx2 route:

apxs -DAPACHE2 -c -i mod_ntlm_winbind.c -- works

Configuration

--.htaccess--
AuthName NTLM Authentication thingy
NTLMBasicAuth on
NTLMAuthHelper /usr/bin/ntlm_auth --helper-protocol=squid-2.5-ntlmssp -d

NTLMBasicAuthoritative on
AuthType NTLM
require valid-user

--perms for apache2 user--
setfacl -m u:wwwrun:rx /var/lib/samba/winbindd_privileged

Testing
--

Well, accesing the page asks for user/password, if i give usrjoe +
mypasswd it gives me an 401 error code. If i enter DOMAIN\usrjose +
mypassword, I get an 500 error code and find this in error_log:

[Wed Jun 07 04:26:09 2006] [error] [client 10.129.7.146] (2)No such file or
directory: couldn't spawn child ntlm helper process: ntlm_auth, referer:

I hope you understand my messed explanation, and help me if you have any
idea about my possible mistakes, i tried many configuration variations, but
these is the simplest one
